I'm finally up to the satellite puzzle and it's a combination of aggravating and broken. I barely even understand what I'm supposed to do - have three panels of the same color as iMom visible if I understand correctly. Except I need to slide the panels around to make them visible. There are multiple problems though - 1) It's on a short time limit before it reshuffles so I barely have time to find the colored panels let alone work out how to reveal them all. 2) iMom's lighting and the transparent panels make it hard to work out what color each panel actually is. 3) Only one of the correct color ever flashes on each set.

On top of that, if you play for a while it breaks - the sliding panels lose alignment making it impossible to win.

This isn't for any admin, or people assisting with the project. It's just for Mark and Scott.

Personally I know the risk I take when investing in a Kickstarter. I use money that's expendable, and if things don't work out, they don't.

I've got a Beta. But I'm unlikely to see the finished product with working saves and bugs repaired. I'm unlikely to see the tier I paid for which includes a big box, DVD of the game, 'special goodies' or a personal thank you note from the SQH (Big fan by the way Troells and bought your SQIV + Galaxy Galaria vinyls)

Regardless of last year's November update, it just seems to have surpassed the point of ridiculousness. The beta has promise, genuine laughs, but massively underwhelming in my opinion. Best thing for us all is to get an apology which I personally will happily accept, because as above, I knew the risks. But also I want you guys to be the same heroes I remember as a 13 year old. I won't throw any shade because I understand all the personal sh*t you've been through. But I think you need to give up this burden for good, apologise, then stick it on github for others to complete. Enjoy your lives and your existing wonderful legacy.

I'll remain a fan for the rest of my life.

Hey everyone, I wanted to put a feeler out there. We've been talking about who we wanted as our narrator for SpaceVenture since the unfortunate fact that the legendary Gary Owen's has passed away.

The question I have for you guys is this. How do you feel about us finding a Gary Owens voice match? In other words, this would be an actor that can match Gary Owens as closely as possible. I know no one can truly replace the man with the golden pipes, but there are people out there that can match him pretty closely.

So what are your thoughts? Would you guys like a voice match for SpaceVenture, or someone else with another unique voice? We've got some people in mind that could do that as well.

Anyway, please let me know your thoughts :)

Thanks everyone!

They've said that it'll be similar in style to Space Quest IV's big box so I'm guessing something like those dimensions. I recently received my Broken Age big box for my Kickstarter reward and it was made to resemble the DOTT box and the LA boxes of old with the border, logo in the bottom center, etc. I wonder will the SV box resemble an old Seirra box? What would you want from it? Something resembling the SQ1 black box? Or maybe one of the "Roger Wilco in..." later SQ boxes? Or a brand new design?

Your SpaceVenture App store submissions go here!

I'll be blunt (it's not like I'm capable of being anything else): All the locations so far have been extremely dull, uninteresting and utterly unappealing. The demo rubbed me the wrong way for exactly the same reason. The rooms don't look like cool places you('d want to) explore, but seeem to serve no other purpose than being thinly veiled, crappy puzzles.

The absurd thing is that the graphics don't even look half-bad. It's just that the locations themselves couldn't be any more bland and uninteresting.

The time has come to plan season 3 of the podcast. These past two seasons, there hasn't really been much of an overarching theme. I tried going for a bit of "x vs y" theme in season 2, and season 1 was just all over the place. For season 3, my idea is to stick to the style of the past season with me droning on about "today's topic," followed by whatever amount of guest contributions have come in that week. But what should those topics be?

Our very own drdrslashvohaul had some good suggestions, such as ...

- Broader sci-fi/comedy tropes, and how Space Quest fits into those.

I like this one. It could feasibly be the theme of the entire season, actually, with each episode focusing on a different established trope and how it relates to Space Quest / SpaceVenture.

- Technology focus. Beaming, instant mail novelty items, cloning ...

This one also tickles my fancy -- bringing some of the more obscure tech-things into focus and trying to make sense of them. Even though I'm pretty sure most of them were just thought up on the spot. And it's not even clearly explained how most of these things work. But it'd be a good excuse to crowdsource some input from fans, e.g. "which doohickey was your favorite", etc.

And then, of course, I have my own desires for season 3.

- More Chuck Clusterbluck. (Kinda sad that Chuck only made one appearance in season 2. Tom has a truly grand epic plot arc planned.)

- More Pete Toleman. (Gotta keep Gareth occupied before he jumps ship and simply goes off and does his own Pete Toleman podcast.)

- More SteveBot. (Thinking of doing a plot arc for SteveBot.)

- More "Lucky Corner" with Alan Luckachina.

- Introducing CyberCedric. CyberCedric wants to bring the universe to its knees, but he's stuck in my room for some contrived reason, so now all he can do is make Borg-esque/Purple Tentacle-esque degrading comments about humanity and his own superiority. (I'd love to get the guy who actually voiced Cedric to do this, but, barring that, I'd need to find an impersonator. You can put your hand down now, Frederik!)

- Something to keep us musically occupied. We've already done SQ4 (season 1) and SQ3 (season 2). I'd love to get in touch with Tim Clarke and Chris Stevens, the dudes who did SQ5's music, but I have no idea how. That would also give me an excuse to pester Ken Allen into talking a bit more about the lost SQ5 soundtrack that he did.

- I'd love to hear more about the "behind the scenes" work of the artists, programmers and producers of the games themselves. People we haven't heard from yet. For instance, talking to SQ4CD's producer Dan Carver about the many changes between disk and CD (if he can remember why they did so).

Any more suggestions, or something or someone you would like to see-- well, hear about/from in season 3, please feel free to fire them my way!

As for when season 3 will rear its ugly head? I'm thinking March at the earliest. Might be April. I won't know until I've planned the season and got people on board, will I? :)

Ryan Nicotera has created a Facebook group called "We Want a New Space Quest Group."

It can be found at http://facebook.com/groups/wewantanewspacequestgame

The purpose of the group is to show the rightsholders to Space Quest that there is still a vast interest in continuing the series. With The Odd Gentlemen's King's Quest reboot coming out soon, and hopefully being quite successful, the hope is that Sierra Games (owned by Activision) will be looking to revive the Space Quest brand next.

If that happens, it is of course imperative that The Two Guys From Andromeda are involved, and not (no offense to TOG) a completely unrelated indie developer. The Guys are already indie developers now, with their own indie studio!

So, do consider joining the group, just to show Sierra Games/Activision that there is a great number of fans who want a new Space Quest. Think of it like signing a petition or something. Who knows, it may do nothing to prove anything. Maybe Sierra Games/Activision are already painfully aware of how much we want a new SQ game. Who cares. It can't hurt, can it?

Option for Quick Pace is Desirable

Not sure if this has been discussed, but I believe it is an important consideration.

What is something many of us do as soon as we start certain adventure games? Turn up the character's walking speeds, right? Who wants to sit and wait while a character lumbers from one side of the screen to the next, over and over?

I was recently playing Moebius (disappointing product from a developer who apparently struggled technically to make the game work, but no need to get into that here), and I found it annoying how slowly the main character walks around and performs many actions. Even in tense scenes, where the character's safety is at risk, he still strolls around as if he hasn't a care in the world.

My suggestion for SpaceVenture: definitely give us the option to make the playable character run/jog whenever we want, rather than simply walk.

Q: How far along is the game?

The second third of the game is mostly up and running and the team is moving along with the final third of the game.

Q: Is the project moving faster than it was?

Yes. Most of the core engine programming is in place making implementing new scenes a lot quicker and simpler. So, programming is no longer holding up the project as much - most of the delay is in the creative aspects: art, design, etc, which is difficult to rush.

Q: When will the Kickstarter rewards ship?

The rewards will ship around the time that the game ships.

Q: My address has changed since I pledged to this project. How do I let the team know for rewards shipping purposes?

Info on that will be sent out when the time comes to ship rewards.

More questions and answers will be added as they are encountered.

Just an all around question really, but has anyone heard anything from the Two Guys camp? I hate reading the comments in the kickstarter threads but, some times when Backers comment on things like to much time has past or finances have run dry it is a bit un-nerving to say the least. Don't get me wrong, I have trust that they have an omnipotent plan at work, but please forgive me, I just have this festering itch of curiosity that needs some scratching. And please, no sophomoric jokes about proscribing pant loads of anti-itch creams/topicals or the like, I know some of you won't be able to resist though.

Hi,

I guess it's quite obvious from the fact that no digital versions are provided with the $100 Big Box Version, but as another project (imho :)) totally messed that up:

Will the Big Box contain the DRM free versions for Linux, Mac and Windows?

Hey everyone! We'd love for you to help us come up with 101 uses for a frosty cup of Soylent Smoothee! Some of the best lines might just get mentioned in SpaceVenture itself ;)

Hey, kids! Long time no speaky.

Just wanted to drop in and let you guys know that season 2 of my silly little podcast is up and running. This first episode I've got Bob Siebenberg, James Mulvale and Jess Morrissette in the house. And if you don't listen I will continue to speak in wildly inappropriate 90's white rapper lingo until you do.

Linky linky: http://spacequesthistorian.com/2014/07/09/episode-13-fandom-through-the-ages/

Or just search for the show on iTunes.

Oh, and, thanks to a kind soul on Twitter, I've put in an application to get this joint on Stitcher, too. I had no idea that existed but, hey, now I do.

As always, feedback is welcome, good and bad, and if you have anything you want me to read on the air, this is as good a place to throw it at me as any!

To Two Guys and Pope:

Almost time for a new update? Please provide more information about the interface, if possible. How has it changed since the demo?

Also, could we see more footage of gameplay?

Please make this a "meaty" update. :-)
