Thanks, guys. It was tons of fun. We'll have a transcript, or rather a summary, of the interview up on SQN shortly. :)

Does he have a Popemobile? Is it capable of atmospheric flight or is it one of those outdated outer-space-only models?

Keep in mind that Disney plan on hiring outsiders to write and direct. "The Avengers" didn't suffer even though that was technically a Disney film as well. But sure, they better hire someone who has the guts to do the opposite of everything the prequels did...

It would be interesting to know how Chris got on the team; we got to see the... er, touching, Two Guys reunion, but not the momentous occasion where Chris came on the scene. Was it analogous to Andrew Brawsome and the Coles, where he was a big fan who proposed teaming up and the Coles eventually took him up on it when the time seemed right?

penguinfan reacted to Spikey in Hero-U - New game from Lori & Corey Cole
At the end of the day, I like where they're going with combat, etc, but that's all window-dressing. I care about story, which the Coles will deliver in droves, and from what I've read, talked to the Coles about, etc, the focus will not be on HD art or photorealism, but rather, solid plot, RPG action, and above all, their mantra, FUN. That's what I care about, immersion and gameplay, not pretty, pointless things or pure looting or pure plot. QFG was always about balance an I feel really confident that they're following some of an old formula and a major new twist.

Without wishing to diss the Guys, and I would have always pledged for SV no matter what, I feel this KS is more exciting in many ways. They're promising a lot and asking for not much. Plus, the team is very promising and Corey and Lori have been very open. They get major kudos in my book for that alone.

Anyway, stay tuned. This will be a keeper.

penguinfan reacted to s_d in SpaceVenture's Backers... Where are they hiding?
There were large sections of "get to know" in some of the commentaries (including the Chris @ Oakhurst photos), but this is a great idea. I like Chris and feel that he's brought a lot. In particular, one would have to be completely blind to not have noticed the storm of press & attention he arranged after the Great Blackout (and 218K debacle), which essentially saved my favorite Kickstarter project of all time. Not everyone was as involved in the day-to-day of the campaign, as a backer, but I, and a few dozen others, were deeply involved. In fact, it is, in large part, those individuals who've resurfaced here, and integrated into the forum communities.

I agree with the sentiment that the SpaceVenture web presences are fractured, and I disagree with the assertion more central organization wouldn't work for the project. I can see how (specifically) a private forum community would be insufficient for every aspect of backer/dev interaction (in particular, reward fulfillment), but having the production diaries and concept art presented in weblog format seems a misstep. Forums, with integrated polling, are perfect for posting, discussing, and voting on concept art (including IP.Board, running here). I don't find the wordpress sites particularly awful to look at (I kind of like them) but they are awkward use and navigate in comparison to a streamlined approach, on at least a single website. I've four sites to follow for SpaceVenture; Kickstarter, SQN, SVRewards, and GFA.com... in fact, GFA.com may as well be two separate sites, the way they are divided. This is a big headache.

I love the content, though. :)

Here is an odd one, and I blame Nockgeneer for it; he literally asked for it.
Actually it's probably 3 separate little poems, since they really have nothing in common except being rhyming 1337-speak.

*** No I don't know what the f0a1 was doing with the Does, foster mothers? Or maybe mama horse was also towards the back, just not mentioned.
**** No it has nothing to do with SpaceVenture, other than coming from the SpaceVenture comment thread; luckily Nockgeneer didn't make that part of the challenge. I will be in awe of anybody who manages to do a hex poem that is actually on-topic.

My attempt at a SpaceVenture sonnet — Shakespear style:

Thine mind might dream of flight and fancy's fronds
    Whilst impotent thee face reality.
A welcome sight now from two without bonds:
The fruitage of their minds proclivity.

    An impasse faced these two with reddened locks;
With writ their snorts were silenced, slightingly.
With fight and courage mustered up, those blocks
Were blasted from the rooftops, smilingly.

True patrons pledging payment in advance
Would stem all tides of thought t'wards loss contrite.
A stage of grand import and tasked finance,
    shall from reality provide respite.

    Hey all,

It's been a while since I visited these forums. Years actually: back when I was coding a virtual sierra-related chatroom in 2003 or 2004. Didn't even remember my login credentials so the sign-in-with-twitter was a nice welcoming :D

Just for the fun of sharing, I was wondering if any of you SQ fans saw the EGA pics we made for laughs during the kickstarter?

We thought they'd make a good sq4-ish joke where the KS 2012 dome was in fact a remake of an old 1986 Sierra game - with time and space all getting mixed up and such.
Fun fact: Mark loved them but was afraid it would scare away new potential backers as it could make them think this was the new game they were backing ;-)

We posted these in the KS comments back when they were in high-rotation mode during the final days of the campaign (10 updates a second? What was it? ;)) so it probably got lost forever in the gap between everyone's page-refreshes.

So I thought reposting them here would hopefully be apprecated.

    Cheers from a true sq-fan,

    - Martin

Well, might as well jump in here...

I'm a PC guy. And by that, I mean "I hate cell phones". If my employer didn't require me to have a cell phone, I wouldn't have one. That said, that eliminates nearly all of the Apple lineup for me.

Now, for the irony... I run Linux. Have for over a decade now. Even my company laptop runs Linux, and when I need a Windows app, I run a virtual copy of Windows under it. Note, this makes me very unusual in my segment of my company. Everyone else in my division runs Windows XP or possibly 7. Thus, you'd think I wouldn't be tied to Windows and would be a natural for an Apple.

    But, I'm not. I'm too cheap. ;)
