SteveHNo96 got a reaction from MusicallyInspired in Best Space Quest (in your opinion)Yeah, I phrased that wrong. Basically, 4 and 6 seemed to have richer graphics and Gary Owens while 5 seemed... well, kinda like an enhanced version of SQ3 since it only had a text announcement. The one thing V has is a hell of a lot of ways to die. The video for it is over 40 minutes long!

SteveHNo96 got a reaction from BlockMaster in Least Favorite Space QuestApparently they never heard of parody.
I'm disappointed. But then again, Zondra was holding a freakin' SPEAR GUN, so glass ceilings were bound to smash everywhere.
Interesting. I remember they got to keep the bunny in the game.
Amazing, isn't it? If you look at the band it tells you they're one of the hottest bands in the quadrant.
I know but compared to Paul Trowe, you're a saint.
Don't know him well enough but he'd have to be a real pantload to be worse than some of the douches I've dealt with.
Thank you!
No alien is going to pop out of your chest, right?
Truth: I'm a pervert and proud of it, but I also enjoy a good laugh. So even though you'd think I'd prefer LSL, Space Quest remains my favorite Sierra game.
Truth: I have used the term buckazoid for money since the early '90s. So far, no one has complained even once about it.

SteveHNo96 reacted to Troels Pleimert in Least Favorite Space QuestTruth: Sierra changed Radio Shock to Hz So Good of their own free will because they didn't want a lawsuit.
Truth: No women's organizations ever sued or complained over the Latex Babes. Mark was kind of disappointed, actually.
Truth: They actually did get in trouble for using the Eveready/Energizer/Duracell bunny in SQ4, because, apparently, the bunny is owned by one company overseas and another company domestically (in U.S.). It was settled out of court, though, so no lawsuit.
Truth: ZZ-Top actually found out about their appearance, years after the release of the game, and threatened to sue (ironic having no sense of humor and sporting beards like that, eh?). Again, settled out of court.
Truth: I'm a jerk.
Truth: So is Fred.
Truth: Space Quest fans are awesome.
Truth: My foot itches.

SteveHNo96 reacted to tomimt in Best Space Quest (in your opinion)SQ IV is my favourite. It's a perfect marriage of stunning art, music, atmosphere, great jokes, good plot and pretty good puzzles to boot.

SteveHNo96 reacted to Decaffeinated Jedi in Space Quest on AndroidI'd forgive Activision for everything if they released iPad ports of the Space Quest series.
Or, better still, turned over the rights to Guys from Andromeda LLC so they could do it.

Ok, I'm going to make a executive decision here and stop this before it goes any further. I think Paul has dug enough of his own grave. I don't believe this needs to go any further and I'm sure many of you agree with me. I don't want this place turning into Paul Trowe bashing central and I don't want this to be the place where worse news potentially breaks. I moreso like the higher road we've taken thus far and don't want to start resorting to slander. Mostly because its unnecessary. So I'm deleting posts associated with....that. Let's keep this in good form, guys. No hard feelings and nothing personal, I just don't think this forum needs THAT kind of attention. Please don't bring *that* topic up again here. If you want to talk about it please find somewhere else to do so. I don't feel right about this place being the place that people.....discover things. Especially seeing as this doubles (for the moment) as the Two Guys' official forum for SpaceVenture and their company.

If Josh is really gone for good (he has been absent from the forums ever since the game came out), then I'm amazed at the brazenness of Replay still having him listed as part of the company on their website (https://www.replayga.../index/about-us). All the more so considering the kind of litigious bullshit being stirred up by Trowe last year when some Kickstarter campaign featured Al Lowe in their pitch. I'm sure you all remember.
I've said it before, Josh was the embodiment of everything Reloaded did right. A company should consider itself lucky to have a man of his talent and integrity. I hope that, despite all this ugliness, we'll be seeing more from him in the future.
Thanks to MusicallyInspired for archiving this heartwarming display of solidarity in the face of true vileness. Again, I'm truly sorry for anyone affected by these recent bans, but at this point I can't really imagine anybody having any bad feelings about being kicked out of Replay's forums. Getting banned from that place is more a badge of honor than anything else.
As for the few people who still remain (or reregistered), I hope they'll soon realize that even flaming on that carcass of a forum is a waste of time. The place is doomed now anyway. Personally, I'll put my energy into posting on more constructive subjects than Mr Trowe's vicious antics from now on. Having us vent our collective rage will only fuel this guy's delusion, that he's actually worthy of our attention. He clearly isn't.
Don't feed the Trowe!

SteveHNo96 reacted to Blackthorne in Paul Trowe criticism on Kickstarter updateThis is also something to keep in mind; nobody will ever remake an entire game (or create an entire fan-game) that was created by Paul Trowe. No one, out of pure love and admiration, will dedicate so much time and effort into such a thing. Something for which no compensation was required; just the sheer joy of doing it and sharing it with others.
He'll never have that. He can flap his mouth now, and boast about any successes, financial gook, whatever - but he'll never, ever, ever have that admiration and love. Ever. You can't buy that, you can't swindle that, and you can't fake your way to that.
He can claim to want to be "Sierra 2.0" but it'll never happen; he doesn't have the charisma to pull it off. Sure, Sierra was a business, we all know that. And inherent in that are lots of things that can be at conflict with the passions of the heart - but when that fades, and we're here - 20+ years later, still loving these games that made their financial "nut" a long time ago, and yet the love, dedication and devotion remains.
We'll still remember and love Scott Murphy and Mark Crowe long after we've all forgotten the name Paul Trowe. In the end, that will be his legacy. Nothing. There will be no legacy. That is kind of sad, if you can think about it from an outside perspective. But we all chose our own paths and we reap what we sow. You can shuffle off this mortal coil so easily - you have to ask yourself "What is it, really, that you want to leave behind? What kind of impression can I make on my fellow man?" I often asked myself this when I was on dialysis, as it seemed like I could be gone any second, and though I've not always been perfect - I have tried my best not to cast a shadow of darkness (Hah!).
I don't care what Paul Trowe has done with Leisure Suit Larry; it's honestly irrelevant to SpaceVenture. I don't know if it was really a "success", I don't know how it did financially. If people enjoyed the production of it, and got the joy of making a game, at least it could be a success on that level. However, I don't know if it was a great process making it. Whatever the case, I know there were lots of decent people who did work on that game - and worked hard.
But, again, their "sucess" or lack of it has nothing to do with SpaceVenture. SpaceVenture is its own project - and it has it's own needs, its own timeline and its own challenges. Maybe Paul is jealous that they didn't join "Sierra 2.0" but now it's obvious that he was never the right person for that job.
So, my friends and colleagues, I don't damn Paul Trowe or Replay Games; the noose of his hanging was fashioned by his own hands, and I don't want to take any joy in someone's bad/self-destructive behavior. I do, however, celebrate The Two Guys From Andromeda (And one Space Pope!) who have become friends and brothers-in-arms over the past few years, and continue my support of them, and I know they'll make a great game, full of adventure, fun, laughs and maybe even a gruesome death or two!!

SteveHNo96 got a reaction from pcj in I'd like to see SQ3 redone like SQ2 wasThrow in nude artwork of the Latex Babes and I'll give ya 15 buckazoids. Hope you don't mind that I found them all inside a wallet on a snowman on some icy planet called Radon.
I would pay that price for SQ3 to be redone, although I doubt there will be enough people like me, however.
-
SteveHNo96 reacted to Blackthorne in I'd like to see SQ3 redone like SQ2 wasSure - we actually have a LOT of content, whoa. We actually programmed almost all of the garbage scow area - I have demos of that. Like MI said, it was SUPPOSED to be the secret hidden full point ending for SQ2. To be able to play that first area of SQ3.
SQ3 is one of my favorite games of all time, let alone one of my favorite ADVENTURE games. We planned on doing some great stuff, but always staying faithful to the original game, which is perfect, really.
This was a test/concept background for the Garbage Freighter - we never got around to doing it. Most of our original work were paintovers of the original artwork, which I have SUCH an attachement to. We were experimenting with this style when we decided to cancel the project.

SteveHNo96 reacted to Blackthorne in I'd like to see SQ3 redone like SQ2 wasAbsolutely I'd talk about this. I'm busy right now, but I'll totally dish on this. Got art and everything.
MI's right - he totally wanted alternate camera angles, and the few tests done with ideas like that turned out cool.

SteveHNo96 reacted to Frede in Paul Trowe criticism on Kickstarter updateI do agree, but I also agree with Steve that Paul should not get a pass on this. Paul is the CEO of a game company while the moderators are volunteers. It's incredibly difficult to hold the latter accountable for rotten behaviour, but the former is in a position where you just don't get to pull crap like this.
I still think this should be handled in the most civil manner possible. But that said, it's too dangerous to just go "Eh, it happened. It won't happen again". We did last time around, after Paul's apology, and the Kickstarter sabotage quietly went on in the background. And clearly it was just a matter of time before Paul came out of his hole to spread more nastiness.
There's a difference between taking the high road and being overly forgiving. Even if people were acting like martyrs, which I don't think they are, Paul doesn't deserve the latter. We thought he did the first time around, but now the ship has sailed and it's borderline proven that Paul will betray one's trust and abuse it to hurt other projects.
I still firmly support the petition and/or joint letter that has been proposed in here by several posters. As far as I know, this is still happening, which is a good thing. Because if you've been following this closely, including the Kickstarter sabotage problems, you'll know that this is absolutely neccessary.

SteveHNo96 got a reaction from Intendant S in Paul Trowe criticism on Kickstarter updateFronzel is right. The people that Paul banned were people who donated their blood, sweat and tears to the game. They donated tens of thousands of dollars worth of cash, free labor, free promotions, moderating and trying to make himself better by making everyone else look worse. I know for a fact that Tom King himself did several months of programming and debugging. That's the kind of thing they pay programmers $5,000+ a month for.
It boils down to ethics. How you present yourself as a person reflects on the company. I myself didn't even get an official reason for being banned. I just was. I mean c'mon -- you're saying "well, he didn't kill anyone". No, but he tried to destroy one project then proceeded to try to rip SpaceVenture because Scott and Mark didn't join up with ReplayGames. Everything he did was to screw over other people and help himself.
Paul should not be given a pass on this. There's no reason for us to give it to him. Josh saw fit enough to leave. Al should design the next game without Paul. The one thing we don't need is a small Larry wannabe trying to hurt other adventure games in the series. When you talk about hurting the Larry franchise, what you don't take into account is that Paul is trying to hurt other adventure games franchises that we love. So sometimes it's a trade off, and we all know Spock's saying in Star Trek II, where the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one.

SteveHNo96 got a reaction from JDHJANUS in Paul Trowe criticism on Kickstarter updateYou handled that really well, Serena. Props to you. By the way, not only does Paul look like Leisure Suit Larry but he's way more inept than him too. (go ahead Paul. I'm a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. You try to kick me in the nuts and you'll see what happens).
The last ten days have reminded me that we as a community do need to stay together and tough through all of this. We know and love games together (LSL, SQ, PQ, KQ, etc.) and we all want to see these adventures succeed. The problem is when people who are bitter, vindictive and cruel (like Paul) let the power go to their heads. I will not respect any man who would be so petty, so trite, so banal and hoary as Paul to stop us from making the games and supporting the people who make them great just because he thinks he can do it and anyone who disagrees with him is automatically a loser.
We should pull Paul like a rotten tooth and replace him with the permanent dental implants, people like Jeroen or Tom, who not only have a clear direction for the games but a passion for making them as good as they can. That doesn't mean we should pull people like Al, Josh, Scott or Mark. They are all good solid characters who still want to make games for people who remember Sierra's heyday.
Anyways, back to SQ and SV. :)
