SteveHNo96 got a reaction from flesk in Paul Trowe criticism on Kickstarter updateMake the petition and I'll sign it.
By the way (this will probably be my last post about this matter, I'd like to talk about SQ), if you trot over to Mr. Trowe's forums, you'll find the number of posts are currently 6,281. Last week it was over 8,500. So all the people he banned accounted for over a quarter of all the posts. Talk about a real class act.

SteveHNo96 reacted to Tom King in Paul Trowe criticism on Kickstarter updateI think DrJ was saying the exact opposite of that, aside from our appreciation for designers like Josh, Al, Scott, et al. We all love those guys and I'm glad to see that expressed here, but I'm not sure everyone understands the position Paul is in.
Paul DOES NOT own the rights to Leisure Suit Larry. The only reason he was able to do a Larry game was because he knows people. Paul has passion, there's no doubt about that, but he's made it clear he cannot handle the amount of power he was given. This isn't just a slip up, it's a personality trait. We would be doing the franchise and the people who worked hard on this game (designers, developers, volunteers like myself, even Kickstarters) a disservice to give Paul the opportunity to be put in the same position twice. We've fought way too hard to bring this games back and to give up now, waiting and hoping that the next Kickstarter to be a success, would be a damn shame.
That said, I urge everyone to contact the powers that be: Codemasters. Be polite, but be sure to let them know where the real problem lies. If they don't want to do another Larry because of disappointing sales, that's their business and I don't fault them for that. But it's entirely possible they don't know Paul has alienated the entire community and the franchise would be better off in more caring hands.
Like it or not, we're a small community. When one adventure game dies, it has negative impact everywhere. SpaceVenture, Space Quest, and other IP's are certainly no exception.

SteveHNo96 reacted to DrJ in Paul Trowe criticism on Kickstarter updateIt really isn't about feeling screwed over, it's sad the way Paul reacted to all of this, but I'm still happy I was involved with everyone else during this project. It's more about the adventure game community being 1 big front (as everyone showed over the last week). We all gathered behind the SV project as we couldnt sit back and let someone tarnish the hard work they are putting into this. As everyone has stated before, we will block any attempt coming from Mr Trowe for another adventure game. So if we are all trying to bring this genre back and are this big front, it cant hurt to contact CodeMasters to let them know how we all feel, regardless if you're a SQ/PQ/KQ/GK/QfG or Larry fan. I think we all want this genre to succeed in this gaming market. That's the main reason I stopped my involvement with Replay Games. I didnt want to sit by and let someone hurt the community.
I guess what I'm saying is that together we can make a stand. Just like we all did when Paul posted on KS. Lets at least contact CodeMasters to let them know how we as an adventure game community feel about Paul's involvement. It's not about Larry, it's about adventure games in general.

SteveHNo96 reacted to tomimt in Paul Trowe criticism on Kickstarter updateI do agree, carpet bombing a company with lots of mail is not a best approach with this. Perhaps a well written and articulated petition etc. would be the best way to handle this matter.

SteveHNo96 reacted to Frede in Paul Trowe criticism on Kickstarter updateSpoke to Jeroen about this. I'm in favour of a petition or one single well-written letter signed by a number of fans. I'll probably relegate myself to the background of affairs as I think I'm spending way much time on TroweGate right now. It's becoming a bit too much and I want to gear down and take a deep breath. But I definitely support the initiative.

Most of you probably know, but in case you don't: It was originally Replay's intention to remake all the old Larry games. That's six remakes in a row we're talking about, with the possibility of a new Larry game being released afterwards.
What this boils down to is that the cool-sounding name of Chief Creative Officer most likely would have reduced Josh to nothing more than an assembly line worker, cranking out remake after remake, possibly for the next decade or so. It always horrified me beyond belief that from survey results on the Replay forum, most people seemed to be okay with letting all that creative genius go to waste instead of letting the man create something new and exciting from the ground up.
No matter what his current situation is, he has earned nothing but the greatest respect from the Sierra fanbase in general and the (former) Replay community in particular and he certainly deserves better than to have his talents squandered on endless remakes.

SteveHNo96 got a reaction from MusicallyInspired in Paul Trowe criticism on Kickstarter updateI think it's damn hilarious. Anyways, although my opinions haven't changed on certain things, I do believe that we should put our differences aside and make sure that Paul is called out on the carpet for his antics. Maybe I had it coming (my big donation of $25.69 isn't going to get them anything, I'm sure), but when I look at names like Tom King, Jeroen Dekkers and YOU getting banned, people that donated thousands of dollars and a hell of a lot of time to the project, that's when I call foul.

SteveHNo96 got a reaction from PurpleTentacle in Paul Trowe criticism on Kickstarter updateIf it is any nudes of Irish, I'm glad I didn't get it. I'll probably be throwing up from now through next June. Also, for the next seven years after that, I'd stare forward in a completely catatonic state saying "the horror, the horror..."
But if it's more stuff about what a chode that Paul is, I'll gladly chime in and say that I think everyone knows that by now.

This whole situation isn't anything new for the Two Guys. Replay Games is the new ScumSoft, and Paul Trowe is the new Elmo Pug, the ridiculed CEO of ScumSoft before the company's demise.
The Two Guys triumphed before, and they shall again!

SteveHNo96 reacted to CmdrFalcon in Paul Trowe criticism on Kickstarter updateI'd like to say all of this comes as a shock, but honestly the only real shock is how long it actually took...
I'm personally not concerned in the least about SpaceVenture. I have faith in the team and I look forward to a fantastic game - whenever it happens to be ready. What I *AM* concerned about is the backlash received by the dedicated supporters who had the 'audacity' to politely ask Paul to not publicly berate the team in a public forum.
I’m sure karma will eventually sort it all out. His uppance will come <insert Larry pun here>. In the meantime, kudos to everyone who spoke out against him.
As for Josh, I had the chance to talk to him back in July and even at that point he mentioned that he wouldn’t be involved in LSL2R (should it ever come to pass - which I seriously doubt will ever happen now). Reloaded was a labor of love for him and I think he did a fantastic job staying true to the game’s spirit. Even during the Kickstarter though he told Al and Paul that it wasn’t his intention to spend years merely revisiting previous games. He didn’t specifically mention leaving Replay at the time, but it doesn’t surprise me too much either.
In my personal opinion (that I’m sure most of you share), Josh is an incredibly talented designer. Sadly his name often gets tacked on as an afterthought since he never had his own ‘headliner’ series back at Sierra. He definitely deserves more props than he typically gets though. It saddens me that Paul will probably get most of the spotlight on this project - not for reviving a legacy, but for being a professional jerk. Meanwhile the talented and dedicated people who actually deserve it are cast in the shadows.
So a great big thank you to Josh, Al, all the dedicated fans & supporters, Replay Games, N-Fusion, and anyone else I forgot to mention who isn’t named Paul Trowe.

SteveHNo96 got a reaction from Fronzel Neekburm in Paul Trowe criticism on Kickstarter updateSerena, you also got a message of support from me, although it's in your "other" folder on your Facebook account. For lack of a better word, Paul is a little little man and he seems fit to raise a fuss with anyone who decided to disagree with him at all. I tried to contact you as soon as I found out you were banned.

SteveHNo96 reacted to Intendant S in Paul Trowe criticism on Kickstarter updateWe may have butted heads in the past over at Replay, but I want you to know that I still respect you. It's both funny and great to know that someone like Paul would bring even people who have their differences together.

SteveHNo96 reacted to Tom King in Introduce Yourself!Hey, everybody! Looks like I finally made it to the party.
So, about me. My name is Tom King. I'm a 28 year-old designer and musician wannabe. Some of you may know me from Leisure Suit Larry Reloaded (I'm that bald jerk pounding beers in Lefty's), others may know me from Twitter (@DadsNewBF). Others may not know me at all, in which case, nice to meet you.
My hobbies/interests include (but certainly are not limited to) music, roadtrips, cooking, hiking, kayaking, cycling, unicycling, changing the size of my thumbs, learning new languages, juggling, poetry, playing air-instruments, playing real instruments, speaking braille, and sometimes, playing hopscotch with philosophers and kings.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you folks. Feel free to drop me a line any time.
