A bunch of Sierra classics are among the list of released games as well. Even some rather obscure titles that yours truly never even heard of. Click here! Activision, you've had your chance to milk that cow for all it was worth and you blew it!

edit: Tried my hand at "Mixed-Up Fairy Tales", because that's how tough muthafuckas roll! I don't know why, but for some reason the interface doesn't do anything. Oh well, maybe I'll try some of the other stone-age-Sierras later, maybe those will work properly.

edit 2: LSL 5 asks me for my password. Never having entered one, I'm thrown out of the game after a few unsuccessful attempts. :P

I guess I'll stick with my GOG collection after all...

Hopefully, this will serve as a wake up call to the dumb cnts at Activision to rerelease their old stuff. (Yeah, fat chance! But a man can still dream, right?!)

This update was amazing - there's so much in it that it's hard to even comment on because
where do you start... I will say the best parts in particular for me were the videos where we
got to see a few of the game locations in action.
    My favorite parts were:

--Garage and Home Scene Elevator Test This really gave a good sense of the "fullness" of the locations and the detail and hopefully puts to rest some fears people might have from the demo scenes that there isn't going to be enough sort of organic-ness to the locations, as these had a really nice feel and seemed really fleshed out and reminiscent of the best Space Quest locations. The Mule delivering stuff in the garage was also cool because it had some unique interaction with the scene (besides characters walking about) and felt fully developed.   --Rooter Repair scene I really liked the close-up scene in the demo of the area with the magazine and drill bits, etc. and this was along those lines too, I think these types of scenes are particularly well done from what we've seen so far.   --Inside crane and crane area Even though parts of this were in incomplete stages, it was cool to see characters walking about in it and how far along the inside of the crane scene is too.   --Taco Nova Excellent stuff, I immediately wanted to see the inside of Taco Nova as well!

Any loyal listener to the SQH podcast has known about a lot of this for weeks, lol.

Which isn't to say that the SQH podcast is a replacement for the Kickstarter page, but maybe Pope should be issuing written TLDL (didn't listen) summaries of his contributions to the podcast...?

Considering the fact that Akril is posting a wonderful fan fiction in World 'O Wonders, I won't be releasing the demo until mid January. But while waiting, just to keep you interested, I finally have some screenshots :

    And my Jerry's body 2.0 :

The texturing is not complete, so for now the walls are pretty blank, but the structure is coming along pretty good. So be ready for... Space Quest Minecraft 2.0!

btw, I want to know your opinion if I should release a YouTube trailer of the map. Anyways guys, that's all I got for now. Stay tuned!

No, it's not. You can justifiably be a whiny little bitch towards yourself for not having read the terms of service, but the Guys of Andromeda haven't done anything they're not entitled to do. Does it suck that the game is not out yet? Sure does. But the lack of security is part of the crowdfunding model. And the hyperbole is just douchy. "RIP Guys from Andromeda and SpaceVenture". "We will never, ever see this game". Either display a modicum of maturity or fuck off. The former can't be too difficult, seeing as I'm managing to do it. And no, I'm not on the dev team. Might as well let it be an open secret that I have $165 on the line. And, as I was studying at that point, that was a lot of money for me 2-3 years ago. So my point stands: grow up.

Get off Chris' back, man. It's not the guy's fault he has had to pick up the reins as far as the game development goes. He's been very active on Twitter regarding this whole shitstorm, and he also posted a comment on the Kickstarter page.

Also, as he pointed out on Twitter, he has been on Scott and Mark's back about releasing exclusive material more than anyone and there has been a number of cases where either Guy has been willing to budge. Most people in the KS comments seem oblivious to that. It seems like people are viewing Chris Pope as this project's own Paul Trowe when, in reality, he doesn't have that big a say against the Guys. Obviously, there's a fine line when posting a nugget of info like that; you can do it in a conversation on social media, but you can't do it as part of the PR gig. It'll look like a crappy apology. But it's now there for all to see.

Appointing Troels, as much as I obviously love the guy, would change nothing. As a matter of fact, it would likely make things worse, seeing as he's probably even less likely to start butting heads with his idols whenever they refuse to let us fans see some actual stuff from the game.

I don't think Troels is at liberty to do that, even though I agree that this a good idea. In general, I'd love to see some team diaries, which is kinda what you're describing here. But, to paraphrase Chris, he literally cannot get the team to do it. And as for the screenshots, we're now running into the problem above.

I love the idea of a hyper-modern 3D parser game! :D Wow, that sounds so amazing, I'm turning into JDHJANUS here.

I think we should come up with an original story. How about a game set between SQ3 and SQ4, detailing what happened when Roger got back from Earth through Black Hole Bertha? It's never been explained how he went from there to Magmetheus. Presumably, he just got spat out where he started, near Pestulon. So he's still stuck in a quadrant with no idea how to get home?

Maybe he goes back to Monolith Burger to get directions, only to be sidetracked by some quest that eventually leads him out of the quadrant and onwards to Magmetheus. The game could end with Roger finally getting directions to his home planet Xenon, and his decision to stop off and get a drink at the space bar is the final line of the game.

You're so right. I mean, it must have taken weeks to put that together, and then we HAVE to click on it and watch it. I cannot believe they would do something like this. Human rights abuse, etc.

Fate of Atlantis is the one game I never gave a fair shake. I liked the intro sequence, but I didn't really enjoy the overall atmosphere.

The Last Crusade was pretty neat for a while, but I hated the Nazi castle with all the fights -- ironic, I suppose, because it's basically just an arcade sequence. I couldn't get through the Nazi castle without losing...

Full Throttle I did finish, and it's ok, despite being easy/on-rails. My biggest problem with it is it seemed to want to be a cartoon rather than a game.

    Got "Speech Recognition" WORKING!!!
Remember SQ 1-3 where you typed in commands??
I've got that working with voice recognition through Microsoft Kinect.
Why Kinect? Kinect has a great voice recognition API, and regular microphone MS Speech Recognition isn't compatable with the Unity3d Engine. Noone has gotten it working with several attempts at writing custom plugins.
Kinect Voice Recognition does work with Unity. (And brilliantly!!) through the "Kinect Extras" plugin.
I am having trouble rendering the game menus to the Rift because the GUI Draws won't render on the Oculus Camera Rig.
The guy who wrote the menu code i'm using is on vacation until January somethingth.
Well I'm off to my secluded island, should have a kickstarter demo ready for when I get back the 28thish.

To the extent that Double Fine's documentary episodes can be considered updates, I think it's a good example of a Kickstarter that will probably be remembered for the updates more than for the actual game (which is nothing special so far). ;)

Thanks, guys. I would love to be able to keep you more in the loop. I've been privileged to see some of the work-in-progress stuff and been allowed to play internal builds of the game to give feedback from a "game player" perspective. But I also have to respect the Two Guys' wishes not to let anything out into the open that they don't want to show yet.

Would I do things differently if this was my own Kickstarted game? It's too easy to say yes, because there's a lot of work that goes into a thing like this, and I completely understand that the Guys just want to bunker down and get this thing done as soon as possible, and not spend any (for lack of a better word) extraneous time coming up with clever updates and tidbits. I would love to see more stuff released to the public and I totally understand the sentiment from the disgruntled backers.

But this isn't my Kickstarter. I'm just a fan like you guys. A fan with some added privileges, sure, but a fan first and foremost. I'm a cheerleader and I may seem overly optimistic at times, but this is not because I get to play with the big dogs or because I'm getting some sort of kickback. 'Cos I'm not. I'm really just super-psyched for the game. And because I get to actually talk with the dudes who are making it, my confidence in their ability and the game they're putting out remains unwavered.

It's funny, because I've never been worried about the project once.

I guess that's what happens when you have better things to do than post angsty comments on the Kickstarter page.

It's pretty obvious that all these comeback-kids didn't really know what they were getting into. The Coles and the Guys are obviously not the best project- and money-managers. Their projects are obviously not going to plan, and they obviously don't really have a really clear or professional plan.

Whatever. Unless you mortgaged your house and wife and testicles on this, I think was worth the risk. Worst thing you might have done is give another chance at glory to the people who gave you so much fun as a kid. Not such a bad way to spend some leftover cash.
