There has been a lot of negative remarks about the various Kickstarter projects on a number of forums. Usually these are because of some odd misperceptions. Some have whined that these projects were stealing funding from new developers. Someone thought that Jane Jensen should not have here own company because she needs a boss to keep her from being lazy. Yet another accused Al and Josh of holding content hostage because they promised to use any extra funds over the Kickstarter goal to add extra content to the game.
I suspect that some have become spoiled by the free fan games. I even read one post by someone that was outraged that the Double Fine game wasn't going to be free. There are a lot of entitled whiney little twits out there.

MusicallyInspired reacted to Spikey in How much money would you invest in Kickstarting the Two Guys?Great post, Frans. Spot on. And I also agree with what people are saying. I would love SQ, but I guess a new franchise or stand alone, whatever, with the Two Guys, with Gary Owens- I can't complain. But what do I get for my money and what do I know about the game. But as MI said we'll know more soon. Hopefully.

MusicallyInspired got a reaction from s_d in How much money would you invest in Kickstarting the Two Guys?I've got all the plot overview I need. It's a sci-fi adventure comedy made by the Two Guys. Will it be as good as Space Quest was(/seemed) back in the day? Maybe not. But I don't care. Expectations will almost certainly not be met as much as we'd like, even if it WAS a Space Quest. But it WILL be good and I just want them to keep making games. They're bound to find their stride even if they don't right away.

MusicallyInspired got a reaction from Troels Pleimert in Controversy- Paul Trowe on the Two guysAll I've heard of Paul Trowe are bad things. But I can't talk more about it, I'm afraid.

MusicallyInspired got a reaction from jfrisby in How much money would you invest in Kickstarting the Two Guys?I put $110 into the Double Fine adventure. Had I known the Two Guys were going to start one later on I wouldn't have donated so much and saved it for them. I'll probably try for $100, though. If not $30-$50.

MusicallyInspired reacted to Decaffeinated Jedi in New SQN launched! New forums!Another minor tweak: I believe the conventional spelling is "Andromedan." The Spaceport forum currently has an extra "i" in there.
Sorry to nitpick!
On an unrelated note, I'm curious to hear how SQ fan games will be integrated into the new site. Are we planning to give them their own link in the navbar? That's the option I'd favor. I think it's a good idea as far as rebuilding an active community to drive as much attention toward Incinerations, VSB, and the SQ2 remake (as well as the older fan games like Replicated and TLC) in order to keep the fans busy while they're waiting for the SPACEVENTURE to come to fruition.
Just my two cents...

Sorry for the brief tangent, but since I may not get this opportunity again anytime soon, I hereby call dibs on the "Angry Astrochickens" idea.
Because I'm working on...something.

I bought Under a Killing Moon and Pandora's Directive on GOG some time ago, even though I have both games, somewhere... I think.
In any case, my motivation for paying for them again, was not particularly moral, but I feel that the effort GOG put into making them a) playable on a modern system B) not having to juggle 4-8 CDs was worth $5 or however much I paid for them.
I could probably have gotten the GOG installers on pirate bay for free, but with GOG and to a lesser extend Steam I feel we have reached a stage where paying for them is more convenient (everything considered) than pirating them, which is really where we should be in terms of piracy vs non-piracy.
Like Gabe Newell said, as far as he is concerned, piracy is just another competitor, and if they provide a better service than him, he's doing something wrong. (I'm quote from (a bad) memory, so I might have messed that up, but in my little fantasy world, that's what I believe he said.)

MusicallyInspired reacted to Frans in New SQN launched! New forums!Hey guys,
It'll definitely take some time getting some used too. But that's not to say we won't be listening to your criticism! So please share any thoughts you might have. The look & feel still needs some tweaking. And I'd love some additional features myself... We'll get there. The pase will be a bit different I imagine, compared to ten years ago.
Indeed. Please note that I am working on stuff, but I need a little bit more time to prepare. Sorry, but I can't say anymore. I'm under orders and bed sheets. Now where did those offtopic and middle finger smileys went off to? :D

MusicallyInspired got a reaction from Frans in New SQN launched! New forums!Glad you like it! We'll probably be talking about content adders, article reporters etc in the near future. After Frans decides how he wants to proceed we'll probably have some kind of application process. Or just bring on board whoever he wants lol.

MusicallyInspired got a reaction from pcj in New SQN launched! New forums!Well, we did it! Welcome to the new website! It's still heavily under construction and needs a ton of content but for now we've still got the old website archived and accessible for you to peruse. We've also got a working forum complete with converted database from the old phpbb board so all your accounts and posts should be intact! If you encounter any problems please let us know! We're working hard to make this the best Space Quest site since the last version of SpaceQuest.NET! Any suggestions for what content to add are also welcome. So please speak up and help make this place awesome because you all make it awesome.
Some new features of the new site:
-All accounts are integrated into the entire website so if you're a reporter you can add content and articles to the rest of the site with the same account you use to access the forums
-You can log into the site with your Facebook and/or Twitter accounts
-You can comment on articles!
-You can like posts/articles!
-You can "Facebook Like" articles!
-You can Tweet articles!
-You can pretty-much-any-social-network-interact with articles!
-If you have a Gravatar account you can use it for your forum avatar (the 2GFA website uses this system as well for comments on their website)
There's a lot of features, these are off the top of my head after looking through a bit.
EDIT: Anybody who used off-site linked avatars will have to reupload, but otherwise everyone's avatars should be intact.
