I was talking about SCI audio resources in general. I have never tried to do anything with SQ4's. But yeah, the digital audio in SCI games is usually 22,050Khz 8 bit mono.

I don't have that "patch" on my site as it is of questionable legality. It is essentially all of the game data from the disk version of the game that has been hacked together with CD version. I suppose that I could eventually create a binary difference patch that would require the user to have both versions to to apply the patch against.

As to the lack of speech, be sure that you are using the RESOURCE.AUD from the CD and that your RESOURCE.CFG points to it.

No problem. I do have the NRS timer patches for direct download ad well as my installers include them, just not the SQ4 MPC "update". While my site may not have as high of a profile as the likes of ScummVM or DOSBox, it has caught the attention of certain entities that would make me uncomfortable with hosting an entire game's data of a non freewared game. For all of that, Microsoft has referred people to my site as the publisher of certain Sierra games. -_-

LSL6CD is still fairly easy to find on eBay. This is ebay.com, but you could probably find a similar deal on a European eBay where shipping would not kill you.

That is a subjective view. The QfG series has a very loyal following, perhaps in part because the character that you build can be imported from one game into the next. It provides for a continuity that goes beyond the other series that keep the same protagonists. It also successfully combines elements of an RPG with an adventure game, with the emphasis on the Adventure parts.

The KQ games also have a fair following with KQ6 generally considered by many as one of the all time best adventure games. This is probably in large part because of Jane Jensen's influence, which brings up her signature series, GK, which also has a very loyal following.

I'll leave it to the LSL fans to say why they love that series.

The remaining series have their following, but not on the scale as the previous ones.

Edit: This could be a fairly large in itself, so it may be best to split it off into its own thread.

With the Viewer you deal with the individual AUD resources. You can either extract the selected raw resources in its native AUD format or save it as a standard PCM WAV file. And it has no trouble with compressed resources. Just make sure that you get the version with the command line tools with no version number. Version 1 does not let you export to standard formats nor can it open AGI games.

Josh Mandel is no Phony Guy From Andromeda. He's the honourary Third Guy in my opinion. He missed the mark a bit with SQ6, but he is a great game designer and a hilarious writer. SQ6 has some of the funniest lines in the whole series.

Josh has said that he feels very badly that SQ6 wasn't as well received by fans. He respected SQ very much and tried to do the series justice. He took it hard that it wasn't considered very SQ-like by fans and that some people hated it. He DID leave halfway through it and that hurt it quite a bit.

He said he wanted to bring it back to its roots, so he made Roger a janitor again. He also wanted it to have some of the non-linearness from SQ3. He tried hard to bring back the feel from SQ3. Even Fester Blatz returned. Odd that it turned out so different.

I think most here would. It seems rather crass to ask for money from the developers giving the community a free game.
