    Hey

My name is Oded Sharon, i’m the CEO of Adventure Mob.
Recently I've been pouring my life into a new game called Bolt Riley that I've worked on since November 2011.

It’s a 2D point and click adventure game I designed myself along with legendary game designers Corey and Lori Cole who made Quest for Glory.
It tells the story of the greatest Reggae musician that ever lived and deals with many important subjects like dealing with racism, bullying and oppression, it has themes of peace, love, and friendship.

Please check it out on Kickstarter:

I would be grateful if you can spare a few buckazoids and send a communication through hyperspace to your fleet members.

    Thanks!

    Oded

P.s. i'm a HUUUUGE Space quest / Space venture fan. I've been in touch with Scott for years and I've had a lot of help from the one and only SpacePope with my campaign.

Cyan (makers of Myst and Riven) are making a brand new first person explorative adventure game with the Unreal 4 engine. "Obduction" is on Kickstarter and is already 55% funded (with a goal of $1.1m with 11k backers at the moment) with still 20 days to go.

I've been waiting for a new game from Cyan for a long time. I love everything they do. I think it was smart to not do just another Myst sequel, but we need more games with Myst's style and atmosphere!

Truth: Sierra changed Radio Shock to Hz So Good of their own free will because they didn't want a lawsuit.

Truth: No women's organizations ever sued or complained over the Latex Babes. Mark was kind of disappointed, actually.

Truth: They actually did get in trouble for using the Eveready/Energizer/Duracell bunny in SQ4, because, apparently, the bunny is owned by one company overseas and another company domestically (in U.S.). It was settled out of court, though, so no lawsuit.

Truth: ZZ-Top actually found out about their appearance, years after the release of the game, and threatened to sue (ironic having no sense of humor and sporting beards like that, eh?). Again, settled out of court.

    Truth: I'm a jerk.

    Truth: So is Fred.

Truth: Space Quest fans are awesome.

Josh Mandel is no Phony Guy From Andromeda. He's the honourary Third Guy in my opinion. He missed the mark a bit with SQ6, but he is a great game designer and a hilarious writer. SQ6 has some of the funniest lines in the whole series.

Josh has said that he feels very badly that SQ6 wasn't as well received by fans. He respected SQ very much and tried to do the series justice. He took it hard that it wasn't considered very SQ-like by fans and that some people hated it. He DID leave halfway through it and that hurt it quite a bit.

He said he wanted to bring it back to its roots, so he made Roger a janitor again. He also wanted it to have some of the non-linearness from SQ3. He tried hard to bring back the feel from SQ3. Even Fester Blatz returned. Odd that it turned out so different.

Ah, yes. The HTML5 prototypes. I thought they were cute and showed that Scott and Mark still had that comedy charm, but so many cringed at it that it nearly broke the campaign.

And count me in as not-a-fan of crate puzzles. I nearly gave up on BS3 because of it.

One of my favorite lines in SQV was the homage to Trouble With Tribbles. "But, captain. He called the ship a garbage scow." "Cliffy, it IS a garbage scow." Or something to that effect. That line cracks me up every time.

That's some great artwork there, guys. Now I wish you went through with it.

Here's the terribly drawn concept I had for the opening scene of the garbage scow. The camera was on an angle to the left of the original perspective and would show a huge backdrop that would seem endless with mountains of trash in the distance obstructed by a bright distance fog. I don't know how else to put it.

I imagined things like puddles and dripping garbage water in places. I thought it would be hilarious if Roger popped open the hatch and landed in a puddle of garbage water lol.

Sure - we actually have a LOT of content, whoa. We actually programmed almost all of the garbage scow area - I have demos of that. Like MI said, it was SUPPOSED to be the secret hidden full point ending for SQ2. To be able to play that first area of SQ3.

SQ3 is one of my favorite games of all time, let alone one of my favorite ADVENTURE games. We planned on doing some great stuff, but always staying faithful to the original game, which is perfect, really.

This was a test/concept background for the Garbage Freighter - we never got around to doing it. Most of our original work were paintovers of the original artwork, which I have SUCH an attachement to. We were experimenting with this style when we decided to cancel the project.

Haha indeed! I forgot about the third option there. That does reflect well the future path choice.

Bit of SQ2 trivia. When we were making the remake we almost put together an entirely different experience for half the game. There was to be a fuel line detached from the space shuttle you have to clean at the beginning of the game. If you left it alone the game would proceed to Labion as normal with the crash in the jungle.

If you chose to interact with it Roger would attach the fuel line to the ship and you would still end up on Labion. However, instead of the hovercraft crashing in the jungle it would continue on straight to the mines where you were to be put to work. What followed would have been an adventure of escape from the mines culminating in exploring your way through an alternate route through the jungle ending back at the landing platform from the mouth of that ancient statue into the pool. You would have had all the same items by the end and the asteroid portion would have remained the same.

It wasn't going to be obvious or hinted at in any way. But for those who just love clicking and interacting with everything it would have been a nice surprise. :) There were a bunch of backgrounds made for the mines but not finalized, IIRC, but the whole idea was scrapped because it would have taken too long. It would have been awesome, though. It would have been a faithful remake with sort of SQ2+ thrown in at the same time!

So, yes, as you've probably noticed from the Kickstarter update, I've made the transition from video to audio. I'm now hosting "The Space Quest Historian Podcast" which is going out on Chris Pope's TechJives.net network, and will also be receiving its own iTunes feed sometime. For now, you can check out the first episode here: http://techjives.net...sode-1Copy.mp3

(Three cheers to Christian Giegerich for the perty, perty logo he made out of Mark Crowe's Historian-portrait!)

The first episode features illustrious veteran alumni Jess Morrissette talking about how The Two Guys invented the adventure game arcade sequence; and illustrious veteran alumni Frederik Olsen talking about how there actually were some of the Space Quest music that sounded better on an old AdLib than with the MT-32.

But more than that, there's also the "Braying From the Masses" segment: Like I say in the podcast, I wanna hear from you guys. 'Cos it's talk radio and what better way to create total utter chaos than by letting you guys go all Fraiser-call-in on me.

The topic for this week's episode was "what games were delayed, but not worth the wait? What games were delayed, but TOTALLY worth the wait? And what games came out when promised, but you wish they could've used a bit more time in the polish department?"

Send me your answers -- you have answers, right? -- preferably in audio form, if you want to immortalize your own voice on the podcast. You can also leave a message here, and the most intriguing ones will get read on-air (most likely in a silly voice, so I'd get those microphones dusted off if I were you ;) ).

If you wanna keep your answer/input/response/whatever a "secret," you can always e-mail me your mp3 at troels@pleimert.dk.

Oh, and if you just want to leave a comment about how crappy you think the podcast is (or, conversely, if you somehow perversely enjoyed it), go ahead. I can take it.

The next episode comes out in two weeks, which is October 30th -- the day before Halloween (and coincidentally my birthday, ugh). Ain't that funny? If you guys wanna send me some scary tales of space Halloweeny stuff, too, feel absolutely free!

Since I've posted a few times, figured I might as well say hello. My name is Doug, I'm an ancient bugger at 52, I've been playing adventure games since many of you were still on your parents "to do" list. I was a mechanical engineer at IBM for many years and now I run a mechanical technology department at the local community college. I grew up on the water so I love all things sailing and motor boating, fishing, camping, that sort of stuff. I'm a computer geek back when that involved punch cards and for some reason (possible insanity say most), I've stuck with it. Actually won a division award at IBM for making all the lab equipment talk to each other (with an IEEE 488 interface people. Try finding one of those today). Like Tom King whose post is just above, I too am in Leisure Suit Larry Reloaded yelling PERVERT in the store (I'm the fat bald one closest to the clerk).

I have a lovely wife of 30 years who really should know better, 3 sons 22, 17, and 13. The oldest is an Ensign in the US Navy and just flew to Japan today to catch his ship for the next 2 years. The other 2 haven't figured out how to escape us yet!
