Fronzel Neekburm got a reaction from flesk in Paul Trowe criticism on Kickstarter updateI agree with the idea for a petition. Our mails to Codemasters would probably have been dismissed anyway as a handful of fans venting their anger over getting thrown out of a forum. They probably get mails like that all the time. A petition would give us the opportunity to truly stand together in this, make people realise who was involved, why this is such a great deal and get noticed.

Fronzel Neekburm got a reaction from MusicallyInspired in Mass Collaborative Tribute Video *COMPLETE!!*I'm camera shy to an incapacitating degree (good luck finding a picture of me on the interwebs!). I'll probably need a psychiatry session or two before I can handle stepping in front of a camera, so I'll second Datadog's query for a potential cut-off date.
When the SQ6 commentary happened, I mailed Chris Pope my SQ-story, which sure enough contained enough sappiness and pathos to fill at least two Spielberg films. That one would've made for the best script for a sappy fan tribute. Unfortunately, since I mailed this from a lavabit-account, that mail is no longer there.
True to the most recent episode of the Space Quest historian, I'd also be more than happy to translate someone's sappy story into German. In case you'd like to deliver your sappy story with a teutonic twist (you know, to boost not only the two guys' morale, but their work ethics as well... :P ), feel free to drop me a PM!

That's fine. I think we can safely assume that this won't make it before the update. Take your time, people! Don't strain yourselves!
Frede, your video was great! Exactly once again the kind of thing I was invisioning.
-
Make the petition and I'll sign it.
By the way (this will probably be my last post about this matter, I'd like to talk about SQ), if you trot over to Mr. Trowe's forums, you'll find the number of posts are currently 6,281. Last week it was over 8,500. So all the people he banned accounted for over a quarter of all the posts. Talk about a real class act.
-
I was talking with Tom earlier about the petition and I'm behind it 100%.

Fronzel Neekburm reacted to Frede in Paul Trowe criticism on Kickstarter updateMaybe if we do a joint letter. I think mail bombing them is a bit extreme. But you will have my signature in a petition or in a letter for sure.

Fronzel Neekburm reacted to DrJ in Paul Trowe criticism on Kickstarter updateIn regards to Josh - I have truly enjoyed working with him. He's an amazing guy, very talented. I'm not speaking to his status with Replay as I feel this is something he needs to share if he feels the need to. At this point as stated by others, it seems most of the reputation of Replay is in shambles and a lot of people left. Other people involved (Al, Britton) are more than likely not happy with the state of affairs.
And while it's great that all this information is being shared & gathered here on this board, I do agree with Quirk & bootyboi that it would be important to speak out to CodeMasters so that they are aware of that's going on.
Last thing anyone would need is the license to go to someone that lost all support & respect of the adventure game community as it would totally kill the franchise from being revived. Even if you are not a big Larry fan, it would be a bad sign for the adventure game genre.

Fronzel Neekburm got a reaction from jfrisby in Paul Trowe criticism on Kickstarter updateMost of you probably know, but in case you don't: It was originally Replay's intention to remake all the old Larry games. That's six remakes in a row we're talking about, with the possibility of a new Larry game being released afterwards.
What this boils down to is that the cool-sounding name of Chief Creative Officer most likely would have reduced Josh to nothing more than an assembly line worker, cranking out remake after remake, possibly for the next decade or so. It always horrified me beyond belief that from survey results on the Replay forum, most people seemed to be okay with letting all that creative genius go to waste instead of letting the man create something new and exciting from the ground up.
No matter what his current situation is, he has earned nothing but the greatest respect from the Sierra fanbase in general and the (former) Replay community in particular and he certainly deserves better than to have his talents squandered on endless remakes.

I haven't chatted with Josh in a while, but he has definitely left Replay Games. His LinkedIn profile lists him as "formerly" Chief Creative Office at Replay for one year from July 2012 until June 2013. So Josh left Replay 3 or 4 months ago.
Since Josh is no longer using Facebook, I am not going to bother him about this; he values his privacy. I'm sure he had good reasons for leaving. He is probably spending time with his family, getting away from it all, and possibly working on a new project on his own. That's all pure speculation on my part.
Oh, just for the fun of it (and because she deserves it), I gave Serena a shout-out in my latest Hero-U update - http://www.kickstart...on/posts/628169. She has been a great proponent of indie Kickstarter adventure games. I caught her by surprise. :-)
Incidentally, I supported LSL: Reloaded mostly because Adventure Mob did the prototype. Lori and I designed part of an Adventure Mob game in late 2011, so we wanted to support them. Shortly after the Kickstarter, they were thrown under the bus. However, as I understand it, Al and Josh were in on that decision and had good reasons for it. The game would undoubtedly have been different if developed by Adventure Mob rather than N-Fusion. It's impossible to say whether it would have taken longer or less time, and whether it would have been a better or worse game. N-Fusion (and by reflection, Replay Games) are to be congratulated in actually shipping a quality adventure game.

Fronzel Neekburm reacted to BigD in Paul Trowe criticism on Kickstarter updateI am ashamed to say I haven't been banned from Replay for my one post yet. I see several folks are dropping turds throughout the forum which I agree, is a bit like pissing on roadkill. I have heard several folks talk about the swag arriving poorly wrapped, crushed, etc. This, sadly is true. The box was designed with a cardboard insert to hold stuff together and looks like it might have even held the shot glass in place, but all for nothing, stuff was tossed in the box and rattled all the way from Austin to upstate NY! There were signs of problems before, they are just a little more obvious now!

Thanks for saving those posts. I've gotten some shots personally from Tom and Jeroen. It's so heartening to see so many people coming to my and others' defense. It's sad to see what Paul's been doing and angers me to no end to see him censoring so many great people. Even posters that I've had problems with I've heard were banned. As much as they were driving me and other mods insane, even THEY didn't deserve that kind of treatment.

Fronzel Neekburm reacted to tomimt in Paul Trowe criticism on Kickstarter updateFirst thing, I do have my own concerns about SV, and if you've seen my post elsewhere you might know what they mostly are.
But, I do think what, and how, Trowe has commented SV current progress is very unprofessional and out of the line. You could even say it sounds spiteful. I can't honestly say I know why he comments the way he does, I've never met the guy nor communicated with him directly, so I really don't know that much about him. Perhaps there is some amount of jealousy in him. He, from the posts and interviews I've read, seemed to think he was a sort of a herald of "Sierra's new coming", which was IMO a baseless claim as he only had rights to one series and everyone else was doing their own thing. Maybe it even is that because Larry Reloaded, and now I did like the game myself so nothing agains it, hasn't really been setting the world in fire in terms of sales Trowe is desperate in trying to find something worthwhile to latch on to.
I don't know what other projects Replay has going on at the moment, but from the looks of it Larry is at the moment their only big name and even that may go under. If Reloaded doesn't sell, the series won't continue. And at the moment it looks like Replay is desperately trying to make Larry relevant again with, of all things, freemium Larry poker game. Getting his hands on SV would be a continuation plan.

Fronzel Neekburm reacted to tomimt in Paul Trowe criticism on Kickstarter updateShame to hear that. I wonder if there's any of the old guard left anymore.
Replay's forum has turned into a ghost town. I checked out a couple of previously lenghty threads, which have been dwarfed into a incoherent mess of couple of messages. A lot of good discussion about the LSL series has been gone down the drain, which is damn shame. Now the most active posters there seem to be genuine trolls PT accused the banned people of being. You get what you order, I guess.

Fronzel Neekburm reacted to Spikey in Paul Trowe criticism on Kickstarter updateHey, folks. How's everybody doing.
I'm kinda late on this one, but there's just a few things I want to say:
1. YIKES
2. Serena, Irishmile, Jeroen, and so forth, sorry to hear about you guys getting shafted, you guys did a lot for the Replay community and the success of the Reloaded project, so thankyou from the bottom of my heart. I have a box in my SMC studio with larry reloaded stuff in it and i'm sure it wouldn't have happened without you guys.
3. Paul Trowe is a dickbag (more to the point, I started a thread about him during the 2Guys' Kickstarter last year and some people did not get that he was doing anything wrong.. I hope everybody is now on the same page about Paul and the potential harm he can bring to the Sierra table)
4. Josh Mandel has been the #1 important part of the LSL project and now that he is MIA, I am very worried. Any time a bad Paul thing was going down, I was talking to him about it, and while I can't really share any of that, it hurt Josh very deeply and he copped a lot of personal attacks on behalf of Replay, and misdirected anger over Paul got sent his way a lot as well.
I would ask anyone and everyone, please send Josh an email at joshoATjosho.com and let him know that we're sorry he's been shafted in this way, and that we still love him for what he's done in the community and what he will do in the future.
On Josh:
Someone mentioned why Josh would want to be a part of Replay. Josh is a game designer, and Paul Trowe's numerous flaws aside (many of which were not necessarily obvious to Josh before these Kickstarter events), he has (had?) pulling power and was able to give Josh's projects budgets and attention. Obviously we have seen how that has ended, but there was good potential there. Sadly, Al and Josh's time, money and efforts have been ruined, for a better word, and post LSL:R, assuming Al and Josh work together in the future, they have to find another backer (although honestly, I don't see how Al would not have the money to fund it himself if he wanted to).
Anyway, this is a truly sad affair, but kudos to the community for banding together like champs. Let's hope there's a silver lining (pun not intended) and that we come out of this stronger. Plus, for every Replay Games, there's a SpaceVenture, Hero-U, Moebius, and so forth.

Fronzel Neekburm reacted to DrJ in Paul Trowe criticism on Kickstarter updateCouldnt say it better myself. As I said before - out of everything, I'm grateful to have had this experience and gotten to know great people in this community more & more (you know who you are :)). It's sad that this all is being destroyed by 1 person.
I do think what Quirk above here is saying would be interesting to try.
-
I will say it again and I can not stress it enough, you have no idea how fun Josh Mandel made it for us, getting to chat with him during late night phone conferences, seeing things others didn't and seeing your ideas and suggestions put in the game talked about or ignored was a genuine blast. Josh made it worth it I know the others will agree.

Fronzel Neekburm reacted to DrJ in Paul Trowe criticism on Kickstarter updateI honestly dont care about the amount of money I spent on LSLR, it's more of the tactics that were involved that now diminish this entire experience. I'm still happy with LSLR just not with the person running the show..
But I'm glad we're able to discuss this in a civil non nudity manner ;-)
