Other kickstarters that need help

Here's a few adventure game projects that could use some help:

A Small Favor

The Realm Game

AR-K

Among the Sleep

To expand on a couple of these from Serena's list:

The Realm

Beautiful adventure set in a strange magical future

What do you get when you cross a Studio Ghibli movie with a classic point and click adventure? According to the creators of The Realm, you will get a "blend of epic western fantasy art, captivating narrative and heart warming character relationships, influenced by Japanese creators like Miyazaki."

This intriguing game project is a joint effort by an award-winning animation studio and a game development company. One could say the tables are turned in this partnership because Atomhawk Design, the animation studio, provided the initial creative vision. The game setting looks fairly unusual: a far-future earth without either interplanetary politics or post-apocolyptic gloom -- the age of high tech has been followed by an age of nature, magic and mysticism. The gameplay is centered around two characters that cooperate to advance in their quests: a human girl and a stone golem. The Realm team promises to bring us a full-fledged adventure with challenging puzzles built around this mechanic (it is not a kid's game or casual game despite having a youthful protagonist).

Also, we need to back this because the kid co-star is named Serena, or would be if she knew how to spell properly ;)

Among the Sleep

Surreal spooky adventure starring a two-year old child

In common with The Realm, this game has a child protagonist but is not aimed at child gamers. Both atmosphere and gameplay are being designed to take advantage of this unusual hero. The environment is viewed through the lens of a child's active imagination. The gameplay involves both strengths and challenges from being small: being able to fit into small places, needing to climb in order to reach normal heights, hiding from threats rather than direct confrontation.

Derelict is now only 5 backers away from a stretch goal for adding a 2nd story! Did I mention the ebook is available for just $1? Don't be embarrassed to pledge that tier if you're low on funds or just not sure whether a couple of short stories from a new author are worth more...

Nelly Cootalot is a traditional point-and-click adventure game where you play as a pirate on a quest to rescue a bunch of hypnotized birds from the clutches of evil Baron Widebeard. If you're a fan of Monkey Island, I'd highly suggest you give this a glance as it looks to have the same charm and humor.

They made a previous game (called Nelly Cootalot: Spoonbeaks Ahoy) that is freeware and they have a link to it on the project's front page.

Ages of Madness is a Lovecraft-style point-and-click adventure game where you play a young student named Balthasar. You're tasked to unravel a mystery in the ancient Middle East, and the fate of the world could rest in your hands as the conspiracy unfolds. If you're a fan of the Cthulhu Mythos then you should check this one out. Go mad...or go home.

The creator of Earthworm Jim and The Neverhood, Doug TenNapel, is now developing yet another claymation pen-and-paper adventure game by the name of Armikrog. It stars a space explorer named Tommynaut and his blind dog-like companion Beak-Beak in a sci-fi adventure. As the project page promises: "They crash land on a weird planet and end up locked in a mysterious fortress called Armikrog. Then...the adventure begins!"

We have not one, but TWO articles up on the KickstartVentures blog for you to check out, too:

A new "Currently Kickstarting" by Michael Shaw (http://www.kickstartadventure.com/home/currently-kickstarting-armikrog/)

A guest article by fellow AGRM member Speedster (http://www.kickstartadventure.com/home/welcome-back-a-game-designer-who-wields-the-pen-of-10-zaniness/)

Now on Indigogo: Fleish & Cherry in Crazy Hotel by Red Little House Studios

"Do you pine for the good ol’ days when cartoons were in black and white? Are you a fan of adventure games? Well, that answer is obvious if you’re already here. Fleish and Cherry looks like it will be a nice trip down memory lane all wrapped up in an interactive action-adventure story. With a twist. Instead of the traditional “damsel-in-distress” plotline, the male lead is instead the one captured and the heroine has to step in to save him."

Please pledge Armikrog or poor Tommynaut will never escape this wild ride!

Note, hope you guys don't mind a very occasional animated gif -- there were several others in the burgeoning collection of Armikrog fan art, but this one is my favorite, thought it was cool enough to share.

Currently Kickstarting: Alum by Micah Orsie

"There have already been a number of retro Sierra- and Lucasarts-style adventure games Kickstarted over the past year, so why not add another one to the list? Micah Orsie and the people at Crashable Studios has just gone live with a classic point-and-click adventure game called Alum. You play as the titular character as he goes on a quest to find the cure to an epidemic dubbed “the vague” that has befallen the people of his city of Cosmos."

When you think of American McGee you generally think Alice. So who better to create a darker and more disturbing Oz than him? Just like his previous games, this isn’t your grandmother’s fantasy story. No, OZombie is so much more than what you’ve read or seen. Little has been revealed about the plot, but what I’ve seen leaves me breathless. And they promise an action-adventure experience that should make fans of American’s other works happy.

Do you remember the days when you’d hear the line “It’s dangerous to go alone! Take this”? While there have been a couple action-adventure games covered in a “Currently Kickstarting” article, none have captured the charm of the early days of the likes of the original Legend of Zelda games. Sword ‘N’ Board looks to be one more game that will tickle your nostalgic bone. Instead of a point-and-click romp through a Sierra or LucasArts style game, you’re hacking and slashing your way through dungeons.

The mind is such a complicated thing. People have been diving into the human psyche for ages, trying to plumb its depths and unlock its secrets. Which is why it comes as to no surprise that psychological horror is such a popular subgenre in media these days. The latest adventure addition to the Kickstarter stables is Shades of Sanity, a contender for surreal and maddening awesomeness.
