xTr1m got a reaction from Troels Pleimert in "I love the Space Quest Series/Sierra Games"What's VH1?

xTr1m reacted to MusicallyInspired in Where to buy SQ1 physical copy, non-VGA?The only collection that doesn't have the AGI original is the 2006 re-release. Anything before that is fine, with the exception of the Space Quest Trilogy and the Space Quest Saga which only contain the remake of SQ1, it looks like. Steam also only has the remake (as it's basically a re-release of the 2006 collection). It used to be on ActiVision's store as well, though I don't think it is anymore. Same deal at any rate. The best one to get would be the Space Quest Collection Series which has all 6 games, both versions of SQ1, a few bonus games, and a teaser trailer for SQ7. The Current Inside Copy, etc videos are on there as well. It's quite the pack on two cds. I highly recommend it if you can get a hold of it.
Most of us started with the AGI version so it has a special place of nostalgia in our hearts. I, for instance, prefer Mark Crowe's AGI artwork to the outsourced-to-Korea over-stylized 40's sci-fi look of the remake by far. I love Mark's view of technology. I love the yellow/brown, purple-skied desert of Kerona more than the red sand/rocked green-skied SQ1VGA. The remake is fun (and the soundtrack is great! One of SQ1VGA's higher points), but I just think the original's atmosphere wins out.

xTr1m got a reaction from MusicallyInspired in Debut Single Release - Uncontrolled ReentryThat stuff is awesome! Please post any details here as soon as you start a fundraising or as soon as your album is released for buying. :)
It kind of reminds me of my own stuff as well. If you'd like to take a listen, drop me a line.

Hey, guys! I'm excited to announce my first step on my own into the music industry (besides the game work I've done) with my first song entitled "Uncontrolled Reentry"!
It's a 9-minute instrumental with elements of electronic, rock, progressive, and probably more reflecting my personal journey through life, how unpredictable it's been, and how I'm positive and excited about where the future will take me. All that fancy wording aside, it's basically just finally my own project with my own ideas and outlook on music that I've been wanting to get out there for years. It's inspired by artists like Mike Oldfield, Tangerine Dream, Jean Michel Jarre, and even bands like Dream Theatre and Pagan's Mind. It's available from my website BrandonBlume.com, my Facebook Page and my Bandcamp music store only right now, but it will be coming to iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, and more digital distributors in the coming weeks, and I'll let you know when that happens.
I'm releasing this single preemptively to support a forthcoming full-length album I'm thinking of calling "Peaks and Valleys". I'll be representing a somewhat wider variety of styles in the full album in various ways, but mostly by combining my favourite sounds into one style, similar to how I've done that in this single.
You can stream Uncontrolled Reentry from my Bandcamp music store or from my SoundCloud. If you like what you hear and want to hear more please consider throwing me a dollar and supporting me and my project!
I hope you enjoy it! And if you do please spread the word and mention it to your friends. :) Thank you, Troels, for the retweet, btw!

xTr1m got a reaction from MusicallyInspired in Introduce Yourself!Hello! :)
Behold another victim of the two guy's comeback... I don't know what to say, I was pulled into a black hole for many years, and didn't have a chance to even realize that Mark and Scott started a Kickstarter campaign... It was only mid 2013 where I randomly started visiting all the old places I've been hanging out in the past, and noticed the already funded SpaceVenture and UnderTheHalfDome campaigns. How I would have liked to have pledged both, but I guess it's too late now.
For those who don't know me, I'm Frank, 29 years old living in Germany, game programmer and composer, and a die hard space quest fan. Former virtual broom closet lurker, sierra music central contributor (a.k.a. "Aboard The Goliath (The Vents)- Remix") and former developer at SQ7.org back when it was going to be built upon AGAST.
I happen to have a similar composing background as Brandon, Ken's music inspried me into composing music myself with computers as well. I have an unfinished space quest rhapsody lying around, which I plan to finish this year.
Anyway, it feels great to see that things are happening again. I'm "back" so to say!
I'd like to give a huge shoutout to my old buddies BLusk, MusicallyInspired, Troels, Spikey, DanTooDee, and everyone else I forgot (sorry about that). I'll start hanging around again over here :)
