Two Guys podcast! Discussion here -
Why do some people think it's so important to pay?

It'd be pretty expensive to pay for a decade of work. :) But thanks. -

I believe copyright law would still protect the original work in this case, which includes protection against any derivative works. (Actually, Activision wouldn't have grounds to sue for the use of the Space Quest name - that's trademarked to the Children's Museum of Indianapolis. So trademark doesn't come into this at all.) -

I have a lot of problems with IP and how it's handled in the US and can be sold from company to company, and suddenly the person(s) who came up with the idea are no longer getting any money from it, which makes the whole set of laws for protecting IP basically keeping corporations rich. So I don't have any moral qualms about it, as you said. I don't have a good impression of Activision either. I'm not hopeful that if a SQ spin-off does well, they'll do anything original to make money off it. They might re-re-re-release the games but that's about it. IMO the only creative group in Activision is Blizzard, and that's rapidly going south as well. (And CEO Bobby Kotick is a tool) -
Well, PQ is an adventure game set in basically the real world, whereas SQ, KQ, and QFG were all set in fantasy or sci-fi settings. So you notice a lot of the mundane tasks more, I think. (Of course PQ was a bit excessive in making you walk around the car every time you wanted to go anywhere.) IIRC PQ2 was a bit better about it, but after that it stopped being as much an adventure and devolved into SWAT.

Was it worth the $59.95?

Maybe on this podcast that they're hyping. -

SQN used to host the games, but IIRC there was a DMCA takedown from Vivendi at the time. That's generally why the games aren't going to be available freely in an above-board manner. As you said, though, they're so cheap it generally doesn't matter much more anyway. I don't think most people here are going to jump on you if you have an illegal version, it's just more likely to be cracked or something which might introduce bugs, etc. -

Just curious, was the interview that the Guys' site has pictures from in the gallery (with Scott wearing the "More Cowbell" t-shirt) ever posted anywhere? -
Oh, that's OK. Carry on then.

Aye, they do seem to know how to make RPGs. While we're on RPGs, Secret of Mana (again for the SNES, and made by Square), is excellent. (And of course the various Final Fantasy games on the SNES were good - never got into 7+)
-
Incidentally, Mario's Time Machine, also for the SNES, is a bad game. Don't even think about playing it.

Josh Mandel thinks The Two Guys probably won't use Kickstarter...interesting. -
If you've got a SNES emulator, you should check out Super Mario RPG. Brilliant game.

By the way, VSB is up for several AGS awards, so if you haven't yet, please vote!

Ahh, yes, Skyrim. I finally weaned myself off of it late last year. Still waiting for DLC.

Sweet, it would be cool if there was a skin that turned skeletons into Sariens. Then you could have Sariens running the hallways shooting at you. And yeah, we need a community server. EDIT: I'm sure you've seen the two way elevator examples.
-
Sweet, glad it worked out for you. Can't wait to see the result.

Arcade sequences in new Guys from Andromeda game.
pcj replied to Chrono's topic in Andromedan Spaceport
Well, of course SQ4 was on multiple (six) floppies, so slightly more than 1.44 MB, but yeah, bit of a jump there. Crazy compared to today's standards. -
Aye, Minecraft. I tend to think of that less as a game and more as a hobby.

Just curious if people are playing other games besides waiting for more Space Quest-y goodness. I myself recently (last month...) finished being disappointed with Mass Effect 3 and have been lapsing into SSB Brawl matches. Is there anything else interesting out there?
