It's official: The Two Guys from Andromeda are back
pcj replied to Troels Pleimert's topic in Andromedan Spaceport
Both the UK and the US allow for unregistered trademarks to be applied, based on common law, or passing off in the UK. -
That doesn't really sound like a whole lot of technology, just some elbow grease.

Well, duh, the radio is amazing.

Why do some people think it's so important to pay?

What's wrong with GOG? They seem pretty cool. -
Sorry for being mainstream, but I like Skyrim's music...?

Yeah, SG-1 had about one per season in the first 4-5 seasons, IIRC. Served as a good recap, I guess. But I don't think Shades of Grey plays the same purpose since TNG is so episodic and there isn't much development in Riker's nightmares.
-
It was a good concept but very poorly executed. It was OK...for a clip show. You wouldn't miss a single damn thing if you skipped it, since all the stuff is in other shows. ;) (SG-1 did this a lot in earlier seasons as well)

I believe you're thinking of patents. To my knowledge, trademarks do not expire after a certain length of time, but they have to be in commercial use or they will become invalid. -
Well, TNG gets momentum starting in season 3, but the first two have good episodes as well and are important for backstory, etc. Season 2 is generally the low point of the series (especially skip The Royale and Shades of Grey), but has excellent episodes as well, such as The Measure of A Man.

Pretty sure it's just copyright protecting them at this point (which is enough for any derivative works using Roger Wilco in a space game) - I believe the Roger Wilco trademark has been canceled. -
Universe was OK, but it doesn't really feel like Stargate. I think they tried too much to be like BSG. It also has a lot of random "reality TV" shots, and very dark overall. DS9 is excellent in the later seasons, but you have to watch the episodes in order. Enterprise is pretty good, probably better than Voyager, but got canceled right as they got their momentum, so a bit of a disappointment there. Definitely check out the remastered version of TOS, and TNG when it comes out later this year.

They made their Kickstarter goal today. (Y)

Welcome back!

Just curious if anyone is watching or looking forward to any TV shows. (Yes, this is an international forum but should still be interesting) As for me, I haven't been watching much TV lately, the SyFy channel is wrestling and fantasy and the History Channel is...not history, and pretty much everything else also doesn't seem to be worth watching... Earlier this year I watched all of Stargate (SG-1 is really good) and Battlestar Galactica (pretty good, the last season is kind of lame). Is there anything else to look forward to?

Hmm, what does do for you then?

Nice! (Y)

Minecraft / Space Quest Server.. asking for your thoughts
pcj replied to ChrisPope's topic in Starcon Academy
Aye, you can do that, or if you're just looking to connect them by chat, there are plugins to have shared chat channels between servers. -

I have experience with managing and maintaining a Bukkit Minecraft server, so if that's what you intend to use, I'm up for it. -

Sounds like fun! -
They should also make a Space Quest MMO.

Actually, I blame mjomble for that. -
Thanks, Chris! Highlights ("live-blogging" this): Chris Pope is on the Guys from Andromeda team, sort of the fan liaison and web guy Boxers or briefs? Mark - Thermoweave, Scott - almost commando time Where have the Two Guys been? Mark's lately been working at Pipeworks, Scott's been trying to find himself, take care of his mother. Both now working at "Guys from Andromeda", Mark has officially left Pipeworks (with good feelings on both sides) Discussion of how they met Chris, and his attempts to get them back together. (But they got back together before he had much progress) Mark and Scott came up with the majority of the content on their site The new game is entirely an original story, though in the spirit of Space Quest (since it's their humor). They may look at pursuing more Space Quest down the road. A lot of fan involvement in what goes into the new game (part of Chris's job) Gary Owens is the narrator Glanz Handerson is Justin Martin, a voice talent in the DFW area They're targeting a mix of new/old talent Funding - they will be indeed doing a Kickstarter Building a game close to what everyone loves, they want creative control They know there are a lot of Kickstarter projects out there, so they're not going to start it yet, pending fan feedback Lots of contests down the road, weekly updates, interviews Chris is the main go-to contact (to make sure things get done) Feel free to contribute ideas, questions, etc for the podcast (nothing copyrighted) The Slash Vohaul story was supposed to be in-game (more), but didn't pan out Yaaay! :D
