  1. Richard's a cool guy, but yeah, you may be right about the lack of a proper story. I wouldn't know, personally. And if Josh wants this to stay under the radar, his wishes being respected is probably more important.
  2. Is there anyone who has got any good contacts over on Twitter or anything? I don't know anyone personally, but linking people to this thread might raise awareness about the fact that there is a deeply rotten, and not wholly irrelevant, story in here. And also about the exceptionally great fans and volunteers, like Serena, Justin, Jeroen and Tom, that are out there.
  3. No, Josh's departure doesn't seem to be public knowledge on a wide scale. I know that Troels and I had both thought it might've happened. Especially after he deleted his Facebook account. It's only afterwards it has been confirmed, through non-official, but nonetheless trustworthy, sources that Josh has indeed left and that his departure from Facebook ties into his falling out with Replay. At least, it seems to have been an open secret among the people who were affiliated with Replay until yesterday, as well as people who know Josh really well. Not sure if it can be "confirmed" as such, though. And again, I don't want to cry foul to the press myself. I was pretty much on the front lines all day yesterday, so I think I'm disqualified. It'd look better if it was brought up by someone who didn't participate as directly as I did.
  4. I still kind of wonder if the indie game press is gonna take this and run with it. It's very tempting to get the story (and warning) out to a wider audience, but I certainly wouldn't want to manipulate someone into giving it a write-up. I know I personally kind of gave up on the high road thing in some of my most recent tweets (his little display of the "tough guy"-attitude was just an obvious invitation), but in spite of that, I still think everyone but Paul was able to walk away with losing face. And as far as the volunteers go, Replay is in shambles. The scale might be a lot smaller, but - Trowe-side - this is really one of the ugliest things happening online since Phil Fish had a meltdown. The difference is that I tend to sympathise with Fish...
  5. Shit, he gained followers? Oh no! What are we gonna do now, my little trolls?
  6. I like your idea. I'd be in for any kind of tribute.
  7. Yeap, that apology is gonna have to go unaccepted.
  8. Ya'll are gonna have to stop posting for a little while. I'm using up my like quota here.
  9. I've written this on Facebook, but you guys really rock. It's deeply satisfying to see this happening and knowing that, in spite of everything, we're still taking the high road. Paul has brought this unto himself. I can only hope the adventure gaming press will eventually take this and run with it, as they did last time around. This man deserves a lesson, and after all he's done to hurt good people I consider friends, I don't think it's petty of me to think so.
  10. I don't think your comment is out of line at all. Paul has had plenty of chances to man up, back out and leave SpaceVenture alone. Instead, he just kept going, even after publicly "apologising" for his behaviour. And your comment proves what I stated earlier - it's surprisingly easy to dig up dirt on Paul Trowe. He must think we're complete idiots; any of us can tear his work life apart with a couple of clicks and the insiders here might even be able to ruin his personal life as well. But that's just not the way we do things. That's not meant to come across as a threat, but Paul (provided he reads this) needs to realise he's not dealing with a bunch of fellow weasels here, and that he doesn't have a single shred of authority left. Still. If you keep spewing out BS, you should at least expect some of it to rain back on you. As long as everyone here continues to adress the issue in a civilised manner (kudos to everyone who's taking a stand), I don't see what the problem is. We have a right to want this guy off our backs. And showing him that his tactics aren't working might actually be more effective than just ignoring him. Come to think of it, all of us Keronian Undergrounders tried to do the latter during the campaign, and he obviously didn't get the clue back then.
  11. Probably has to do with Chris Pope being a rookie within the game industry. Maybe Paul has a special relationship with "Space Quest" or Scott and Mark. And then this social media guy who has never worked on a game comes along and has the audacity to help the Guys start up their own game company. Again, I think the tragedy of all this is that Paul is doomed to fail no matter how much he pisses on the parade. He's never, ever going to work with Scott and Mark. I hope he has a moment of clarity some day where he realises how pathetic his little crusade is.
  12. In my view, there would have to be a lot more than bipolar disorder going on. Granted, I haven't had the "pleasure" of dealing with the man himself, but I am privy to a certain amount of inside information that I've pretty much sworn I'll never share. Suffice to say, Paul Trowe is anything but your average Joe. I don't personally mind that he doesn't believe in the project. He's not the first and he probably won't be the last. That's part of the package when it comes to crowdfunding, and even to adventure games. But he's been exploiting his professional status to privately harass Scott and Mark (especially the former), to deliberately delay the project and to discredit Chris Pope. There's documentation for every claim I've made here available. Some of it widely; I find it important to note that there are no baseless accusations in this thread. I may come across as outrageously unsympathic here, but I don't even care much if he's suffering from mental disorders. If he is, I'm sorry for him, of course, and I hope he eventually seeks treatment, but a mental disorder is just not a licence to be as much an asshole as he has been since this campaign kicked off. There's just no excuse. The funniest, and most tragic, thing in all of this is that he seems to really expect that Scott and Mark will jump ship and join Replay. It's just so obvious that he's aiming for that to happen. Is he really that delusional? At this point, it's a no-win scenario for him. Even if he was to step in and replace Chris Pope, his reputation would forever be in ruins among us "Space Quest" fans, and some of us might even choose to end our support for the project if this was to happen. I love Scott and Mark dearly, but I would personally pretty much be done with this, were it helmed by Paul Trowe. Just as I wholeheartedly support Al and Josh returning to the industry, but wouldn't dream of throwing money after the Replay LSL games. And yes, Brandon is very right that this discussion is happening publicly. In my view, there's nothing harmful about that. Paul Trowe presumably knows that what he's doing is not okay by any definition, so we may as well talk about it. There's the old saying that "silence gives consent" and while I don't want to play as dirty as Paul clearly does, he sure as hell isn't going to catch me accepting this kind of behaviour either.
  13. I've obviously shared my thoughts on this on the Kickstarter comment page itself, but I'm glad we're having a discussion about it here too. I'd personally like to urge you other fans to either ignore Paul or let him know, politely, that his services are not requested. Finding dirt on Paul actually isn't very difficult, considering he's been covering his tracks with about the same grace as an elephant in a porcelain store. But here's the thing: we're better and, well-documented delays aside, we're getting an original game. We're not getting a remake and we're not getting a "Space Quest" game licenced from Activision. There's no CEO involved who'll poke and prod the Guys till they change the interface during development. Nosiree. We're getting a brand new and exciting sci-fi comedy adventure game from Scott Murphy and Mark Crowe. We can afford to be better. Paul seems to have the idea that this is a black and white 1960's thriller where he can drive Chris Pope mad by continuously harassing him. I say we ignore him and his sad delusions. tl;dr SpaceVenture is happening, the Guys have finally gone independent and there's nothing Paul "I like to pretend I'm Ken Williams" Trowe can do about it.
  14. It will, yes; that was the first stretch goal of the Kickstarter, and it was reached. Ainsi, vous pouvez jouer SpaceVenture en Français :)
  15. September is generally open season for me, so I have no preference. I'd prefer splitting up the two commentary sessions over two Saturdays, though. 8 hours in a row would likely have fried my brain by the end of it.
  16. What an awesome idea! Thanks for sharing. I use dual monitors, so I definitely need to download this.
  17. RESOURCE.CFG can be opened in any text editor. So you can edit the path that way.
  18. Yep! That's also the outline we're going with in our FAQ :)
  19. True. But I'd say that depends on Scott and Mark, and if they really wanted to retcon those installments out, I don't think they would've gone through the trouble of both doing commentary for both of them. There was really no need for Scott to be present for the SQ5 one, nor Mark for SQ6. Most fans would've understood if they'd decided to do those separately. But it was nice to see that, after all, they too consider the series to be 1-6, despite the split after 4.
  20. "Canon" is a dangerous word to use here. Because, yes, as much as we consider the Paragon ending to be canon, VSB itself could never be canon. Same goes for Incinerations. We're just happy to have given people a good adventure and a few laughs. But the next real step from Roger should still start at DS86 and be created from scratch by Scott and Mark :)
  21. I'm going to get Patrick and Andres take the lead regarding VSB. You know what the former is busy with and the latter is still in Chicago, so those are the schedules we need to align. Chris and I seem to be able to clear a Friday or Saturday (or rather two, seeing as this might be a longer session) after the holidays. I'm quite sure Marty will be able to do that as well.
  22. Yeah, same time and usual for me.
  23. Ooh, you could (if that harmonates with Chris' thoughts) join in for SQInc as well, considering the amount of character art you did :)
  24. Maybe we should start with Incinerations, considering Datadog and I are both available on the 20th. I'd gladly ramble about my music, how awesome the game is and everything in between. I'm not available on the 13th anymore, though.
  25. Really? Even considering you've released the SpaceVenture demo four days prior? Which I politely implore you to have done ;) We might as well wait till Andres is back from Chicago, then. Maybe even after the release of SpaceVenture and the obligatory Superfan Hangout where we celebrate that game.
