  1. Great new article from the folks over at Capsule Computers! ------ Space Quest Creators Reunite for New Game Have you heard? An old adventure game developer is using Kickstarter to fund a brand new point-and-click adventure game! Tim who? Double what? No, I’m talking about the Two Guys From Andromeda, creators of the classic Space Quest series of the eighties and nineties. In case you haven’t donated to enough Kickstarter projects lately, Scott Murphy and Mark Crowe, the aforementioned Two Guys, have reunited and are asking for $500,000 before Tuesday June 12 to develop a new Space Quest game. The guys are clearly passionate about the opportunity, and they already have a stellar cast of video game voice actors ready to participate: there’s Gary Owens, narrator from some previous SQ games;Robert Clotworthy (Jim Raynor from StarCraft 1 & 2); Ellen McLaine (GlaDOS and the turrets from Portal 1 & 2, The Administrator from Team Fortress 2); John Patrick Lowrie (Sniper from TF2, Sword Control from Halo: Reach); and Rob Paulsen (Pinky & The Brain, Animaniacs, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Monkey Island). At the time of writing, the project has already raised almost half of that amount, and with two more weeks to go, it’s likely the target will be reached. So go help them out on Kickstarter, where there’s a crazy amount of information on the project, as well as some rather generous pledge rewards. And keep up to date with all things Space Quest at guysfromandromeda.com. ------ http://www.capsuleco...e-for-new-game/
  2. New tweets from Scott and Two Guys twitter accounts regarding podcasts and press. Two Guys - "231k on the Kickstarter & rising. The press has arrived. Please continue to push & let's make this game a reality! :) #SpaceVenture" Scott - "In the live podcasts we hope to answer A LOT more questions. The loss of audio from Mark and Chris really messed things up. #SpaceVenture" regarding the live chat. When I asked Scott about games 5 and 6 and their development he repied..."We've been talking about covering all the the games individually in a podcast. Must deal with the rough as well as the fun".

  4. Excerpt from the new GameSpy article below. ---- Another collection of promising Kickstarter projects. What's in this week's Kickstarter grab bag? We've got a stylish steampunk platformer from a talented artist; a Frisian legend come to life; a typing roleplaying game that educates andentertains. See which ones are worthy of your support. But before we get started, let's bring some attention back to the Two Guys SpaceVenture Kickstarter that we talked about a few weeks ago. Their funding is still in progress (they're almost to the halfway point), but they've now released a playable prototype of their project that can be played in Google Chrome, check it out. Now, onto the games! http://au.pc.gamespy.../1224852p1.html
  5. Some interesting comments from 2 Guys on kick-starter today. "We have the media attention now, just wait and see.. We've said this before, but there is a reason why we had to hold out. Well, legal reasons actually. But that's done now!! :) But... some jungle drums would be amazing! :)" "What's coming? Well, here's a hint.. How bout some commentary videos with the two guys.. Oh and those new tiers you guys have been asking for.. (ah spoilers)" "You guys will notice quite a bit of press coming through now, as well as the next few days! Thanks for the posting about it! :)" "MASSIVE TIER UPDATES about to happen tonight. Stay tuned! :)"
  6. Maybe I'm not sure about the whole backing for no reward idea. I know that I definitely want some of that cool stuff offered! But maybe SpaceQuest.Net could offer special 'badges' that appear under your avatar permanently. Obviously, there will be lots of fans generated once the new game comes out, but how cool would it be for the original fans to have a badge under their avatar which indicates that they were an original backer of SpaceVenture! Maybe these badges could be differentiated by colour? Bronze, silver, gold, platinum, diamond, whatever.
  7. LOVED the prototype. So awesome to see Scott and Mark's vision gradually coming to fruition. I really love the text boxes and the fade effect on them. Very classy. Found all three deaths too! Contrary to mjomble (no offence intended) I actually really loved hearing their intro. I love every little bit I get to hear from those two geniuses whether it be a podcast, interview or intro to a prototype they've made for us. Didn't bother me in the slightest and if anything, just built further suspense!
  8. Rahoul Choudhurry: "Hi Dave! Thanks for all the work you've done on Webkit - without it, we would never have been able to put together these prototypes. :-D Everyone - Dave Hyatt is one of the co-creators of Firefox and currently works at Apple on the Webkit browser rendering engine (used in Safari and Chrome)." Pretty sure it's him. Even if it's not, $1000 is a pretty expensive prank? Keep prankin' I say!
  9. Hello PCJ! Testing feed!

  10. That's actually super awesome. As a massive fan of Apple this really excites me. Using HTML5 for the prototype and hopefully the game was an awesome decision as is clearly the case now that Apple/Apple employee's are paying attention. Wowzers! P.s. Just tweeted Scott about the guys offer, not that he won't find out from a million other people. But IF they are truly planning to develop it in HTML5 and are not considering other options, now might be the time to be transparent about it. Especially if that transparency is worth an extra $4000.
  11. Well I don't know if there's a need for two threads at all. Wouldn't your top post just be the uncluttered library (which I think is an awesome idea) of all the news, and then from post two onwards it's just people posting news and discussing it as it unfurls naturally? I doubt people would get the two thread system, I know I've never seen that done before. But as I said, whatever works s_d, I'm just along for the awesome ride! P.s. You sound really keen on news and updates and stuff! Isn't the forum advertising a 'reporter' position?! You should totally go for it! I considered it for a while as I love that sort of thing but as I said, with being a teacher and all, I don't have a lot of time these days.
  12. Yeah I think that's a good idea! I too have been a member of forums where they are run like. I was a member of a Michael Jackson fan community for a very long time before he passed away in 2009 and that's exactly what we had there. But yeah, with my current job, I definitely don't have the time to be maintaining that kind of a post/thread. There wasn't one like that here when I got some good scoops from Scott during Johnny's playthroughs, so I thought I'd start something at least. The other problem as well is that for a thread like that to work, it kind of needs its forum members to actively be collecting the news they find around, whether it be press releases, interviews, twitter updates or info they themselves source to be posting it in that one location which then in turn gets copied and pasted onto the initial post. I'm not so sure the members here are yet active enough to do that. But hey, starting that kind of thread will definitely encourage engagement! If you wanna start one, and are committed to continually updating that initial post with news and rumours that get posted in the thread, then you definitely won't be stepping on my toes! Peace! StellarSoul
  13. Hi guys, Thought it might be fun to start an 'introduce yourself' thread for members. I know I love getting to know other Space Quest fans from around the world. Might be a nice place for new members to come as well to perhaps get to know others. Could sticky it if the thread takes off? Anyway, might as well kick things off. I'm a 25 year old male history teacher from a rural town in Australia and absolutely love video games, music, film, history and just geeky things in general. Basically I live out in the middle of nowhere in a mining town because our government here encourages new teachers to work rurally for a few years to gain permanent employment. Not so great for a city guy like me but meh, half way through my country service now. I started playing Space Quest when I was quite young and actually my first memory of any computer game was seeing Space Quest 1 being played by a cousin of mine at her house. She was on the Arcada and putting her spacesuit on ready for escape! Ever since that moment, I became absolutely addicted to games but particularly adventure/role playing games. It wasn't long after that until my Dad bought the family an old 486 with Windows 3.11 loaded on to it, or wait, was our operating system still 3D Menu at that stage. Hrmmm, anyway, the games I enjoyed most while growing up were Space Quest titles, naturally! Anyway, I look forward to talking with everyone and getting to know more people, but I'd love to hear about you guys as well! StellarSoul
  14. Yeah that's what I intended this thread to be. A place where people could come to update the community on news and/or rumours they had seen. It could be official press stuff, tweets from Scott, Mark, Chris or anyone, or whatever! I just felt it would be good to have a central place for up to date information and discussion around it.
  15. For me it's all about the tiers, not so much what I get from backing, but about being able to spend a reasonable amount of money considering my budget. For example, I've committed $150. I'm happy to go up to $200 but probably no more. There's a big gap between the $150 and $250 tiers that needs to be filled to push people like me up a little bit. I'm sure there's lots of gaps like that in the tier structure that could be plugged with mid points.
  16. Thought it might be a good idea to start a thread where we can collate all new and exciting news and rumours about the new SpaceVenture game. To kick things off...During JohnnyPhantom's live playthrough marathon of first four Space Quest games, none other than Scott Murphy was in the chat room! He was gracious enough to divulge some information about the SpaceVenture game and I'll repost it here. I apologise I was not able to copy and paste his exact words as they scrolled off the chat box before I could get them. However, as I was talking with him I did take some notes. Here are the tidbits, with Scott's permission to repost them. 1) He mentioned the game will be have an exploratory feel more so than it being directly linear, with the possibility of an overarching travel system for moving back and forth between environments. This came up as we were discussing the SQIII travel system and how awesome it is. 2) Soon fans are going to be able to see some of Mark's art for the game, which is apparently awesome! 3) In response to being asked whether the game will have any environments similar to the dark, grimy SQ III junkyard/Xenon style ones, Scott mentioned that the game will have a mix of light and dark environments. 4) In response to being asked whether the iPad's voice recognition software (Siri) is being considered for use with the parser interface, Scott responded that they are 'considering' many things. Hrmmm.
  17. Yeah, seeing all this now that I'm reading the kickstarter comments. Terrible news!
  18. What happened to the marathon? I went to bed during Space Quest EGA, woke up nine hour later and its over! Surely he didn't finish all the games in nine hours?! Hoped to catch a bit of Space Quest Five and Six.
  19. I have had errors 37 and 33. Very frustrating. Especially because when you just wanna play offline in single player mode. I get why the game is tied to a server though. Goes a long way to beating piracy.
  20. What's funny is that I actually am haha. Not trained as an English teacher though. History and Social Science by trade, but I teach junior English. Watching marathon right now. Donated. SO much fun.
  21. Can't wait to watch this. Will have it on in the background tomorrow as I do all my marking. Yes I'm a school teacher.
  22. Was funny. Love how the Two Guys reveal their humanity in this kind of way. Makes them so relatable!
  23. Who else is playing? Loving the Demon Hunter. Great game.
  24. Haha you know what? I didn't even mean to write the word music. I can't even remember what the music is like in those locations by memory. I meant to write the word 'more'. I would like to see 'more' complex, immersive environments like those two places with lots of nooks and crannies to explore and interact with. Those two locations stand out to me as the two most exciting and immersive out of all six games. All comes down to detail.
