Telix Zmodem reacted to ChrisPope in Anyone just the tiniest bit restless?Hey Jared! Can't blame you for being restless, I include myself in that category. All I can say is there is quite a few really cool new features being added. This is indeed to help garner help in our stretch goals. While the programming is being done, Scott and Mark have been discussing lots of things along the way. We've had to make decisions on expanding the team members and all the other things you can imagine that is involved here. But most importantly, this will be the last of the Living Concept Arts of the two guys on the Island, so we're trying to make it extra special. And in saying that, hopefully gain more excitement from the adventure gaming press :) Uhg, I hate sounding to vague and I hope that wasn't too bad. Thanks so much for taking the time for posting though, we appreciate all the feedback.

Telix Zmodem got a reaction from Mr_Homn in Kickstarter- page revision suggestionsFor another point of view, I'll have to give my own. I disagree with making wild changes. The simple reason? This is a kickstarter project and it doesn't work like that.
Kickstarter projects are one-shot deals, or you have to start another project. So every one of us visited the page for the first time, and decided to make a pledge. Fans of the game will make pledges, people who are fans of adventure games, and games in general. Sci-fi fans who don't play games might support it. Fans of comedy support it, because let's admit, it's hilarious.
Some people just aren't ready to be 'roasted' or expect to be with the Two Guys from Andromeda-style of humor. It's not always like that, but it's something they feel compelled to defend against? It's funny to read some of the 'confessional's from people who played the games for free, but it is what it is, it's software piracy.
On top of this, there's an obvious pullback from 'web publications' to cover this story for free. So it's fans + the Two Guys, so I think the more information the better. Burying information in links is not the answer.
Nothing needs to be replaced or removed: all they can do is plan what to post for the next two weeks, and take what they learn to the next project (if need be... all funds are returned and no harm done). So focus on the future!
I want to see a new video like Al Lowe did... respond to fans and backers questions and feedback. Easy 100K boost right there! Anyone interested in voice acting is in for a TREAT if they haven't listened to Rob Paulsen's 45 minute interview.
"At the same time", "That being said", there are kids complaining that the Rob Paulsen interview was boring or god-awful. Personally I find that attitude lacking respect or understanding, but maybe it's because I am interested in voice acting and his work. Either way, the rude comments online aren't helping anything, everyone backing the project should keep it positive. Deleting things is not an option in a kickstarter campaign, nor is it recommended. Best bet is to learn and move on if a project doesn't succeed.
This one will! I have confidence the fans will rally the necessary support to get ALL of these games 'pre-ordered'. If not, well I guess fans can't have nice things.

Telix Zmodem reacted to Rahul in Virtual convention?I love the idea of a sarien.net meetup :-D
You could even make it a collaborative, multiplayer playthrough of SQ1 since that game is completely available. It could be crazy hectic and chaotic, but a lot of fun and definitely something that could be recorded for posterity.

Telix Zmodem got a reaction from Troels Pleimert in Help us improve our Kickstarter! :)I'm a fan of the kickstarter campaign! Someone else mentioned it too: it's just about one of the best ones that has been run!
For example: it started with the kickstarter page, and it was loaded with pencil sketches, not to mention the video.
Then these pencil sketches came alive via the game prototype! Good stuff

Telix Zmodem got a reaction from pcj in KICKSTARTER IS LIVE!Couple ideas to get the word out: Submit story ideas to publications: tell them the classic adventure games are coming back! And, if they want to talk to people running a project, check out this project!
For those who didn't play the original games, I compare it to Galaxy Quest. It's hilarious, makes jokes about the Science genre. "Look around you, see if you can form a rudimentary lathe."
From now until the end of the kickstarter: tweet something about a game memory. The secret message font in AstroChicken's secret message was really cool. The space ports were fun to explore, whether at Monolith Burger or an alien planet. Also it was a Sierra game that was cool and fun, a combo that some of the other games didn't have!

Telix Zmodem got a reaction from MusicallyInspired in What made Space Quest specialWhat made Space Quest special to you? For me, it was:
1. The games were funny! As a kid, I enjoyed the humor more so than LSL, which was over my head!
2. The box art was great! It stood out at Software Etc. It was like Star Wars.
3. There was no 'Star Wars Adventure Game', so it was something that was new, but similar to what I wanted.
4. This was before 'Star Trek: The Next Generation' so it also reminded me of 'Star Trek TOS'.
5. Other games like KQ had you play as a specific character, but Roger was generic enough that I could see me as Roger. It seemed more immersive.
6. It was a game I could play with friends, especially if they hadn't seen it, I would give the full presentation and hype it up like a movie. For a single-player game, that was awesome!
7. I studied every screen of Space Quest games. Mark Crowe did some awesome work with the graphics and animations. It was a very inspirational series!
Can't wait for the SpaceVenture!

Telix Zmodem reacted to ChrisPope in Controversy- Paul Trowe on the Two guysHey guys! First off, thanks for all your support in all of this. It means a lot to everyone involved that the community is so passionate about everything going on. It is important to me personally that you understand a few things from my end.
I am 100% a massive fan of Sierra and especially the Space Quest series, as you might already know if you listened to the interview. I will not deny that some of you guys could run circles around me in your knowledge of Space Quest and it's universe! I also want to make it clear that I do feel lucky every day of my life getting to work with a couple of guys that I have idolized all these years.. but in saying that.. as we rednecks say here in the south, this ain't my first rodeo. And I didn't get pulled on with these guys because of being in the right place at the right time.
I work one on one with people in the entertainment industry as a social media publicist. I also work as a producer on certain projects. I work mostly with people involved in Movies/TV or the Video Game area of the entertainment industry. My job is to help create excitement around things and I know I am blessed beyond belief to work from home and do this type of work for a living. As far as who I work with, I'm not gonna name drop here, partly because I can't, but mostly because.. well whats the point? As far as video games go I will tell you that I work with or have worked with people of Blizzard, Valve, Disney, and yes... even Vivendi. I encourage you to learn more about me.. hopefully it won't bore you too much. I will say, I'm not Christopher John Pope(the sex offender) from Savannah Georgia!!! Just for the record! >.> But I say google away if you'd like.
Scott and Mark spent a lot of time talking with me, as well as talking with each other about me. They checked me out just like I encourage you to before choosing to work with me. After many many hours of talking, a company was formed “Guys From Andromeda LLC”. It is a legitimate business, please feel free to check the public records on that. We have and are hiring people to help with the game(s) that are being planned. Some involved are ex-Sierra employees, but ALL others are space quest fans! That point was something I requested from those guys before we began down this road. It is VERY important to me that everything is up on the table with you guys.
And in saying that... heck, I'm just super excited to see adventure games making a come back! Being involved means the world to me, which is why I hope everyone knows that I am making it a mission to keep all the fans informed on things that are going on. As a kid it was my dream to work for Sierra as I'm sure a lot of yours, which is another reason why I want to make sure everyone knows I am an advocate for the fans. I think we can all agree that in order for Scott and Mark to make things successful, there needs to be someone to manage all the fan interactions, right? The fact that so many people are so passionate about all this is the same reason why Scott and Mark having some help manage things is so important. I also want to say, that I do realize I am only one person. I can miss things, so thank you all for pointing things out!
Please continue to think positive! I have no ill will for anyone that’s trying to bring back adventure games! I don't care if my name should become mud with the community, if it means that I can play the kind of games I grew up playing with my kids, I say bring it on :)
Anyone who has worked to see adventure games come back into this world is okay in my book, despite anything that is said about me. Scott and Mark have read this thread, but for the most part I have asked them to PLEASE keep plugging away at what they are brewing up for everyone! But I promise you this, if you guys want them to reply to this thread, I can ask them to do it.. or if you would rather them keep plugging away so that they can bring you something really cool and exciting within the next few days then let me know.
I promise to let them, as Scott says “make a game that they would want to play” and not control their creative vision. But I also promise to relay feedback to them constantly. This game will be made with the original Two Guys working together... not the Two Guys and Chris Pope. Myself, I just want to see another fun hilarious game made by two of my heroes from back in the day. I can already tell you, their chemistry is still there!! You won't be disappointed!
Please feel free to let me know your thoughts and feelings. I have no problem discussing most things publicly. But you can also email me at Chris AT guysfromandromeda DOT com. And upon request, I'll even Skype or have a phone call with you if you'd like.
Thanks guys!
Chris Pope
