JubalBarca Posted March 17, 2014 Report Posted March 17, 2014 Okay, so I'm working on a small mod for Rome TW (the 2005 original not Rome 2) that is so far as I know the only sci-fi conversion the game's had done to it. I'd quite like to use the Space Quest theme as menu music, but have no idea a) who has the copyright and more importantly b) whether anyone's going to be likely to enforce it. Does anyone know what the copyright situation is on these things? (Also, I'm going to post more information about the project generally pretty soon, specifically since it's pretty massively densely packed with Space Quest references, but I'm officially announcing the whole thing tomorrow so more to come then!) MusicallyInspired Posted March 17, 2014 Report Posted March 17, 2014 ActiVision owns everything related to Space Quest, and if they catch you they probably wouldn't let it slide. That said, if it's just for a mod I dont see the harm or the chances of getting a C&D. If you do you can safely remove it anyway. Quote
Troels Pleimert Posted March 17, 2014 Report Posted March 17, 2014 I've been using Space Quest music for my podcast in every episode and so far no peep. I think Activision has slowly learned their lesson about raising a fuss against creative fan communities. Quote
JubalBarca Posted March 17, 2014 Author Report Posted March 17, 2014 Thanks for the advice, folks :) Quote
