Blue frogs in the Time Pod NEW : Now (maybe) solved!
BlockMaster replied to BlockMaster's topic in Starcon Academy
The patch is a script file, which looks exactly like any other .HEP, except the letters are not capitalized. I tried making a PATCHES folder and redirecting to it, with still no success. By the way, I'm doing all this in Windows. Windows 8, to be precise, in my Space Quest Collection folder on my C:\Program Files\Sierra folder, not in DosBox. DosBox is only used by the Space Quest collection to run the game. I don't think running this patch on Space Quest collection is possible. Already tried to install NRS's one before, but all narrator's sounds were cut, so I removed it. I don't know if it is my computer or what, but something isn't right. I don't have any dosbox mountings that I know of. This is on Windows Space Quest Collection. This isn't the dos version, it is the Collection dosbox version, so is there something that I am supposed to do with SIERRA.INI? Also, the website explaining how to install the timer fixes, as linked on spacequest.net archives, is not hosted anymore, so I'm running out of ideas. Maybe there's just no way I can get this to work with my computer configuration. BlockMaster- 53 replies

I already omitted it at first. That's what failed the first time. I even tried configuring Sierra.INI. Didn't help.- 53 replies

I did drop it and that's it, at first, but nothing opens the warp menu. :( THEN I started playing with the RESOURCE.CFG. I don't know what I did wrong. BlockMaster- 53 replies

Blue frogs in the Time Pod NEW : Now (maybe) solved!
BlockMaster replied to BlockMaster's topic in Starcon Academy
So... how do I say this properly... I'm going to go straight to the point : I'm an idiot with Space Quest Collection directories and Dosbox. I have no idea how I am supposed to update my patch path or Sierra.INI to install the patch. I am clueless. I tried the Windows directory to sq4's files, in Space Quest collection, where I did put the patch, as suggested on the website, but it didn't work. I then tried the dosbox directory/game directory. Didn't work either. I don't know if it's Space Quest Collection that is making it impossible to achieve. If someone knows how to do this... please tell me. I can't test anything if I can't make the patch work. Thanks in advance, BlockMaster- 53 replies

My bad. My big bad. I'm sorry. Did some research. It isn't NRS's patch that has the cheat enabled : http://www.spacequest.net/archives/sq4/cheatdebug/ So yeah, THAT version might have the Blue Frog line. :) I hope. BlockMaster- 53 replies

The teleport menu, with all the time codes. I posted earlier in this thread the script of it. NRS reactivated it in a patch, where you need to click on Roger's left shoulder to open a menu with all the time codes. BlockMaster- 53 replies

Blue frogs in the Time Pod NEW : Now (maybe) solved!
BlockMaster replied to BlockMaster's topic in Starcon Academy
Progress update : No matter how many things I tried on the shoulder, a hundred times each, it still didn't pop up. A weird note : When you click the talk icon on your shoulder in the released version, it gives generic talk messages. When you do it in the BETA, it says : you talk to yourself. So in the beta, the shoulder is actually registered as an interactive object, a function they could've removed between that time and the final release. Also, in NRS time code patch, he renabled the Time-O-Matic menu, which is activated... guess how... by using the HAND icon of Roger's left shoulder! Did he accidentally renabled the "Blue Frogs" too, if that line was supposed to be triggered when looking at his shoulder, at the time when his shoulder was actually an object? I am amazed. I am friggin amazed at the fact that this thread has been revived, with actually a new theory. Wow. *applauses* The shoulder! Why didn't I think of that earlier? I never tried many things on the shoulder, and yes, it might be triggered Under certain circumstances. I am so excited for this. I think this might still be in the game! You might call me crazy, but in the past, I posted on an old thread, (can't recall WHICH) the fact that I seem to remember hearing the narrator say this in-game. The first thing that I thought, the first time, when I heard that line in the RESOURCE.Aud, was timepod, Xenon. I might be wrong on the Xenon part, but I am pretty sure I did hear this line in the time pod! I think, and it's just a theory, that it's a rare occasion thing, where you need to look at Roger's shoulder multiple times tp trigger it. Or it is random, because I'm pretty sure I triggered it first try once... I'm going to research on that. It would be ironic if someone finds how to trigger it, after all this time, and that it's actually still in-game. - BlockMaster- 53 replies

Nevermind on that one. I don't have any way to play floppy disks. Thanks for the help anyways. I guess I'll stick to the version I have, and hope that there is nothing really different in the code of version 1.1. Wait... 100 $... US? Wow. Pricey. And I had that version, even. It was my father's, but from the lack of being able to play floppy disks, we sold that one.

Is there a way I could get ahold of an older Space Quest I VGA version? I'm not scared to pay, if I need to, but I don't know where to find that, even.

If I'm not wrong on this, there are two other versions of Space Quest I VGA, older than the DOS version : Atari and Amiga. I have been looking for those for a long time, and I couldn't find them, until yesterday, when I came across a hidden link of spacequest.net archives which offers all game versions for download, except Atari. Unfortunately, the file download aren't hosted anymore, and therefore I'm unable to download them and explore the code. Where could I find these again? The only places where they sell the game are all selling DOS version, and technically, I already bought the game, since I have it on Space Quest Collection. Any ideas? Also, are those versions really older than the DOS? - BlockMaster

Wow. I thought I had a great idea. Now, I just feel stupid. <_< Oh well... Yeah. They didn't make a reference to a game that wasn't invented yet, probably not. ;)

Heh, I know it would be ridiculously impossible, but if there is a reference to Space Quest in Stunt Flyer somewhere, my mind will just blow.

Does someone here have an idea of what the rag could've possibly be used for in Space Quest 6, or what creature of Space Quest I VGA could've been holding the chainsaw that killed Roger in the unused Space Quest I death? I'm curious... By the way, I don't know if it's related, but I found some sprites of armored Sariens showing them in a way that you never get to see in the game : Walking frontward, backwards, and in the four diagonals. Also, four more unused sprites in the same folder, but those have been removed. I had a theory where the garbage robot in the Deltaur could've been the one chainsawing Roger, since it is situated in a narrow left-right corridor, and as if the hazard wanted to support my theory, there are two missing sprites in the garbage droid's folder (probably left and right version of something) and I thought that might be the sprites depicting him chainsawing Roger... no death image for that though, unless it was supposed to use the same one as when Roger goes through the laser beams, which could've been logical. If only there was an older version or a beta of Space Quest I VGA... - BlockMaster

I don't know if it fits in the category, but I made (or I tried to make) a high-resolution version of the screenshot that has been posted on the old spacequest.net, a long time ago, showing a mysterious bear-like creature in a film-strip. After spending a couple hours in paint.net, and coloring the bear with the normal, used Space Quest III colors, this is what I came up with : Old one : Retexturized : Doing this showed me a couple things : One, whatever they were going to do with this bear, they probably didn't finish texturizing it. Two, the eye of the creature has no pupil. Three, the eye colors are a lot different than in the original image. Anyways, that's all that I have for now. I was really hoping to be able to retexturize "The Empire Sucks", on the Tie Fighter, but I might just do that later. Anyways, I hope you enjoy. Stay tuned! - BlockMaster

Heeey all! Long time no posting. I have been pretty busy these times, and not really active on the forums. I do still check the forum regularly for posts that could possibly catch my attention, but these days, with life, and the current downfall of my second Minecraft Space Quest, I didn't post anything since a long time. I then thought to myself : if I don't see any posts that captive me enough to continue posting on here, why wouldn't I make my own one? So I got this passion recently into game theorizing. I love game theorizing. Thinking about what could possibly be some things that are unused, or left-overs, of the final game. Space Quest was, and still is, quite a challenge for me. There are so many things in this game that are left-out from the public, released version, and I love theorizing on what could've been the possible use for those things in development. For example : the bear in Space Quest III, the unused two deaths in Space Quest I EGA, the rag in Space Quest VI, the keycard in Space Quest IV, why Stunt Flyer and Dacron Danny got removed from the bargain bin in the Galaxy Galleria... so many things. Here, I want to know what are your own theories about of those things, and more. The theories that you did come up with through the years. It's always interesting to see other perspectives. :) Anyways, that's all I got for now. I'll be soon posting my own theories on here too. Thanks for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day. Stay tuned! - BlockMaster

Update on the release date : back on undetermined. Getting really busy these days. :P I have realized the lack of activity on the forums this week, and I had an idea that could possibly start a discussion going on here. One advantage of making a remake of an already existing game, is that you get to change it. I won't change my Minecraft version from the orignal game too much; I want to keep it as close to the original as possible, but I thought about one cool change I could do. Why not adding my own Easter Eggs? I thought that might be really neat, and this is where you come in handy. I don't have many ideas for Easter Eggs, so I want to know what comes to your mind. Do you guys have any ideas of a cool Easter Egg that I could have. If so, don't be shy and share it! Or, if you prefer it to be more secretive, message me! I would love to add a bit of your input to my map. Anyways, this is just an idea. That's all I got for now. Stay tuned! BlockMaster

Starting a Let's Play series of SQ4, but before I do...
BlockMaster replied to shadyparadox's topic in Starcon Academy
Definitely the Room Removed for Legal Reasons. I was just going to suggest that, but apparently, I'm never the first one to come up with a new thread idea or reply (Hey guys!, I just discovered that Sierra is coming back in 2015!... Oh. There's a thread for it with a hundred replies. Hum hum. Never mind. :) ) Anyway, I think you should also mention the removed games from the bargain bin : Dacron Danny and Stunt Flyer, as well as the old placeholder for the Astro Chicken game, the unused speech portrait of Professor Lloyd, the beta version, the old Roger look, as seen in the game's documentation, the fact that the intro was once interactive, the patches, the unused time pod Time-O-Matic menu, the "I Love Lunacy" easter egg, the three unused lines spoke by the actor who plays Roger, (The scream, "Dang", and "Mom!"), the fact that the ending sequence was once also interactive... and much more. These are just ideas that mostly come from Akril's website or my own research. Anyway, that's all I got for now. I am really looking for seeing what you're going to make with that let's play idea. I always like seeing more Space Quest content on YouTube. BlockMaster
