Heeey all! Long time no posting. I have been pretty busy these times, and not really active on the forums. I do still check the forum regularly for posts that could possibly catch my attention, but these days, with life, and the current downfall of my second Minecraft Space Quest, I didn't post anything since a long time. I then thought to myself : if I don't see any posts that captive me enough to continue posting on here, why wouldn't I make my own one? So I got this passion recently into game theorizing. I love game theorizing. Thinking about what could possibly be some things that are unused, or left-overs, of the final game. Space Quest was, and still is, quite a challenge for me. There are so many things in this game that are left-out from the public, released version, and I love theorizing on what could've been the possible use for those things in development. For example : the bear in Space Quest III, the unused two deaths in Space Quest I EGA, the rag in Space Quest VI, the keycard in Space Quest IV, why Stunt Flyer and Dacron Danny got removed from the bargain bin in the Galaxy Galleria... so many things. Here, I want to know what are your own theories about of those things, and more. The theories that you did come up with through the years. It's always interesting to see other perspectives. :) Anyways, that's all I got for now. I'll be soon posting my own theories on here too. Thanks for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day. Stay tuned! - BlockMaster

Hey guys! It's BlockMaster again! I was fooling around in the Space Quest code recently, trying to find some new discoveries, but almost everything out-of-game that I thought that I was the first to find was already found by someone. I then started to copy the Space Quest scripts in text documents to start looking in that for new discoveries. That was a great idea. Because I don't have the first game in EGA, I started looking in Space Quest I VGA, and I found something that isn't in the game in the first script. I found that in the script, inventory items are represented like this : instance Pulseray Laser Pistol of RInvItem { view = $233 ; 563, s2startX loop = $0 cel = $0 nsLeft = $0 nsTop = $0 nsRight = $0 nsBottom = $0 state = $0 cursor = $f ; 15, lsBottom type = $4000 ; 16384 message = $4 ; x modifiers = $0 signal = $2 helpStr = $0 maskView = $0 maskLoop = $0 maskCel = $0 highlightColor = $0 lowlightColor = $0 description = string_33e8 ; "It's a pulseray laser pistol. Remember, this isn't a play toy!" owner = $3a ; 58, ':', heading script = $0 value = $0 } Where the name of the inventory item is between "instance" and "of RInvItem" in the first line of the script. Scrolling through the list of inventory items, I found this : instance Keronian Ale of RInvItem { view = $231 ; 561, s1startX loop = $0 cel = $0 nsLeft = $0 nsTop = $0 nsRight = $0 nsBottom = $0 state = $0 cursor = $19 ; 25, time type = $4000 ; 16384 message = $4 ; x modifiers = $0 signal = $2 helpStr = $0 maskView = $0 maskLoop = $0 maskCel = $0 highlightColor = $0 lowlightColor = $0 description = string_3393 ; "Ummm! Keronian Ale!" owner = $2b ; 43, '+', number script = $0 value = $0 } Tell me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the Keronian Ale that you can buy at the Rocket Bar ever becomes an inventory item. I checked in the game, and Roger can buy one, but he quickly drinks it and give the glass back in a kind of cutscene, so it is impossible to get the drink in your pocket, unlike in the EGA. This isn't something too exciting, but I thought it was something that I could post on here. On this topic, I will continue to post more of my discoveries! Stay tuned! BlockMaster

Working on the latest SQH podcast prompted me to make some major changes to my Sierra's Resource Files site. I've taken a closer look at some of the games' text in SCI Viewer, and I'm starting to get a much better sense of where and when some of the things I've found were supposed to appear in their respective games. I've discovered several things which I didn't add to the pages for one reason or another, nearly all of it from SQ4 and SQ6. With this influx of new material, I've had to do a lot of shuffling around. The SQ series are now on a page of their own rather than the Miscellaneous page, and I ended up adding so much stuff from SQ6 that I had to create a separate page just for it (as well as its demo). I've also moved the content from my Secret Sounds of SQ6 to this new SQ6 page, since A) the Secret Sounds page is woefully outdated, B ) other games on SRF have audio on their pages, and C) it's slightly tidier this way. You've probably seen/heard lot of these new additions already, but for the most part, I've never seen many of these things gathered together in one online location. Even the SQ Omnipedia and The Cutting Room Floor Wiki don't have the clips of Roger reading the Radio Shock Catalog (though now, the latter probably soon will; they've borrowed a lot of stuff from SRF already). I've also played through the SQ4 beta and posted some of my more interesting finds here, which include Zondra without her boots during the torture scene, a slightly annoyed comment left by a programmer, and a glitch that actually has to be triggered in order to progress in the game. (By the way: If any of you are particularly fond of Maebot's voice and demeanor, you might end up feeling a little confused once you've learned how this particular character appeared in the beta. Also, the outro is amazing, and has to be seen to be believed.)

Finally, I think that I found something never seen before in the Space Quest folders! Look at this : http://www.flickr.com/photos/106016985@N05/sets/72157637093575225/

I found these lines in the source code of Space Quest III : "Looks like this bird's in good shape.", "So, how do you like the game so far? Was it worth $59.95?" "Hey, we're hungry. We haven't eaten anything but jello for the last few weeks." "I hafta go to the bathroom." "Can't you make this crate go any faster?" "Just between you and me, I think ol' Wilco's been in space too long." What does that means? There is no bird in Space Quest III, and they mention the game's price. I wonder if you know something about this.

Have you ever seen this before? This is an unused background hidden in the folder of, belive it or not, King's Quest VII! Nobody knows what this was supposed to be used for, but it's still an interesting fact. Maybe it was a plan for an easter egg in King's Quest, like a portal that leads you to Space Quest. Who knows? Anyway, just something I found that I thought I would share. Please, reply and tell me what are your thoughts about this.

I finally managed to download the Space Quest 4 CD update by New Rising Sun, and I entered the Room Removed for Legal Reasons. It is a really strange place. I just want to collect information around. Here are all the things that I noticed. When you arrive, you don't see the room through the glass of the Time Pod. You see only the spiral of colors shown when you travel somewhere. There is a strange, melancolic background music that does not originates from any known Space Quest music. If the Sierra orchestra recorded a special music for that room, that means that it was likely intended to be in game. Strangely enough, that music isn't in the soundtrack. If you exit the Time Pod and you try to go back in, it displays the message : "Sorry Roger, YOU'VE been taken out of the game for legal reasons." If you look at the room, it will display the message : "This seems to be a storage room for all the stuff taken out of Sierra games for legal reasons." The HAND, NOSE and TONGUE icons do nothing in this room. The bar at the top of the screen shows that you are in Space Quest IV. If you look at the Radio Shock sign, it will display the message : "Hey, it looks like the sign they took out of the mall!" If you look at the Droids-R-Us sign, it will display the message : "It looks like something they took out of Space Quest 1." If you look at ZZ-Top, it will display the message : "It looks like the two hairy guys they took out of Space Quest 1." If you look at the Hero's Quest sign and banner, it will display the message : "It looks like something they took out of Quest for Glory 1." If you look at the dinosaur on the front wall, it will display the message : "It looks like something they took out from Quest for Glory 1." If you look at the Slug Chow, it will display the message : It looks like something they took out of Space Quest 4. If you look at the paper on the front wall, it will display the message : "It says: "please help me fertilize my mother's cat". They took THAT out and left the "Pantload" bit in?" That is all I discovered. If anyone knows where does the soundtrack comes from, and if it's original, please tell me.
