  1. PCJ needs his own Bat-signal. Trouble would be, once we got it turned on, he would've already fixed the problem.
  2. Also, I think I'll stick to cola for this one. I have chickens to shoot. ;)
  3. All right, then -- it's a date! Just to be safe, here's the World Clock telling us what time I had in mind: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?msg=Let%27s+Play%3A+Space+Quest+Incinerations+with+designer+Chris+Ushko&iso=20130720T20&p1=69&ah=4 Let's kick Junior's ass! :)
  4. I've been playing it a bit on my phone, anyway, so I've got a pretty good handle on at least the beginning of the game. ;) What time is best for you? The same time as the normal Hangouts, meaning 8pm Denmarkian time?
  5. I'm sorry -- Fred had to actually remind me to check this thread. YES - let's do SQ Inc on the 20th, if you're still up for it.
  6. I know most of you have already given up on friends, love and sex for this coming Saturday ... but, raygun to head, Saturday the 20th works much better for me. Is that at all a possibility?
  7. I'll get back to you on this. Signs point to yes and I think we'll be starting with VSB.
  8. Did I mention it's funny? I've been peeking over Scott's shoulders on the script that's being put together for the demo. Like PCJ, I am not at liberty to disclose much (unless I want an incredibly well-shirted Pope on my back), but I can tell you that those of you Josh-Mandel-types who enjoy clicking on every object everywhere is in for a treat. They're doing something with exploring the game world that I'm not sure I've seen in any other adventure game -- on the surface it's just your standard Sierra-inspired interface, but the way it works is something altogether new. And, without giving too much away, it ties into the pioneering spirit of the first Space Quest game. Even though it has nothing to do with graphics, the writing style still has to do with the "style" of the game ... and, from a fan perspective, I'd say SpaceVenture is shaping up to sound a lot like SQ4 with some of the whimsical "going off on tangents" SQ2-style messages thrown in. That probably makes no sense. So you're just gonna have to wait and see. I will, however, share with you one piece of direction I got from Scott while adding a few placeholder messages in the script: "Gah! Puns are forbidden, Troels! I'll spank you later and don't care that you might enjoy it."
  9. Thanks for the lol. ;) Also, the "Taking the exam" theme from SQ5 works pretty good, too. Edit: ... especially when the reference to the Psycho shower scene pops up. (Those high-pitched string stabs.) :D
  10. Dude, you have to be buzzed in order to make sense of any of this. ;) Well, even though there's still a mess to clear up, Roger might be safe when he reappears in SQ4 outside the Magmethean canteen. Assuming that all Spols (I like that abbreviation) originate from the SQ12 timeline -- and also assuming that defeating Vohaul in SQ12 causes all the Spols, regardless of where they are, to deactivate -- then Roger should be fine. Or at least not in any immediate mortal danger upon his return. That's assuming a hell of a lot, though. For all we know, all the Spols are now running around the SQ timeline like headless chickens, stirring up shit wherever they can, trying to find a period in time where the Vohaul Virus is still intact in space somewhere so they can get back to what they were doing and ... hey, there might be a story in that. Maybe I should get buzzed myself before I go any further.
  11. Then by no means should you search YouTube for "dancing squid"! Bon appetite!
  12. Mmm. "End up with the squid." Sounds romantic. Almost.
  13. Okay, yeah. Roger Jr. says he's gonna put Roger back where he found him. That's right. Didn't think of that. But that actually makes things even more complicated. Since Roger didn't defeat Vohaul until SQ12, doesn't that mean he's getting put back in an SQ4 where Vohaul's still hologramatically alive and well along with his Sequel Policemen? And if he's getting spat back right where Jr. found him, isn't that just into the open arms of the Sequel Policemen who were sent to find him? Granted, all this "operates" from SQ12, but that implies that Vohaul exists in some beyond-time state where defeating him in the future will retroactively defeat him in the past. Now THAT'S fucked up. ;) Also, the hint book in the Galaxy Galleria indicates that SQ4 DID happen; we just weren't around to see it. :)
  14. Can someone send me video footage of this? I'll let you in on a secret. Chris Giegerich and I were planning on doing some SQ Historian "shorts" to tide over between big episode releases ('cos they take an awful long time) and this would be perfect.
  15. Sometimes when I screw up and double back, there he is, snuggling up to me and making me crap my pants. I think maybe he shows up randomly whenever you switch directions? Or are there some spots where he always is?
  16. We used to find tons of these "references" in popular culture all the time, but they usually turned out to be complete coincidences. Like Zapp Brannigan from Futurama lookimg suspiciously like Roger in SQ5, but not really. We do know for a fact that Zach Braff is a Space Quest fan, though.
  17. Ah, if we go by intention, then, and not the one that turned out to be the majority cause of frustration ... I'd say, by design, the Goliath maze in SQ5 was pretty brutal. The Datacorder in SQ6 was the first logic puzzle in any SQ game, so a lot of players had problems with that. Oh, and the squid monster in SQ2. Seriously, does that guy have a pattern, or does he just show up randomly?
  18. July, yes, of course. ;) Well, let's see what happens.
  19. Hey, I'm sorry if anyone showed up. I wasn't there. I completely lost track of time. My apologies.
  20. Well, Hangouts are a blast-and-a-ton and I love 'em dearly. But they also do require a bit more preparation than most virtual hangouts (e.g. you have to comb your hair, put your pants on, put headphones on and remain absent from your family, loved ones, pets and dust bunnies for 4+ hours ...). So I was thinking, how about a quickie? ;) I was thinking maybe we could all decide to get together at one time on the SQN IRC channel and just shoot the shit? There's tons of good news on the horizon with the SpaceVenture demo -- and maybe we could even get The Pope to join in, if he's not too busy. (Considering what he's neck-deep in right now, which is getting the demo done on time for the San Diego ComicCon, he might be. I haven't asked him yet.) So there wouldn't be a shortage of stuff to talk about. I was thinking, what if I hopped on the SQN chat on Saturday at this time: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?msg=Andromeda-Fans%27+IRC+Party&iso=20130608T21&p1=69&ah=2 and we'll see who shows up? :) (By the way, if you have no idea what chat I'm referring to, this might help: http://www.spacequest.net/index.php/page/chat.html )
  21. Who are we kidding. We all know the Skate-o-Rama will forever be the hardest sequence in the Space Quest series -- we're still getting requests for help on that one, and I'm actually getting e-mails/tweets from people who said my SQ Historian video on S-o-R helped them beat the game! -- so why don't we just all resignedly agree that SQ4 is, for all intents and purposes and broken timers, the hardest game in the series? ;)
  22. July is the grand kick-off for the commentaries, then! Lemme get out my calendar here ... I am unavailable for the first week of July (because of Roskilde Festival -- you don't want to see me playing Space Quest games during that time). I do, however, have the entire second week off. But let's go by weekends; Saturdays, primarily. Should we stick to the original format of VSB first, INC second and SQ2VGA third, followed by a grand closing party with PQ? I'll kick things off with suggesting that we play VSB for 4 hours on Saturday June 13th. How many from the VSB team are good for that one?
  23. Hey, guys. Blackthorne was in a panic of sorts, so he would "get back to me." I think the best thing to do for this is wait until people have time off -- and book time far enough in advance, so people can't bail on account of other engagements. Mjomble already did a fantastic overview of his availability. If we say, okay, all the games get 2 x 4 hrs, meaning two sessions, we can plan from that. (The Pledge Quest series will probably be over in just a single session, though.) Ideally, weekends. Let's say we kick this thing off in July, huh? Everyone's favorite summer month. Who's good for July?
  24. Sure. I was just about to ask you guys how you wanted to proceed Saturday, but I can see that VSB is not going to be the first game out there. (And yes, that SpaceVenture schedule sure is fun. I look at it all day and laugh and congratulate myself on being the writer's intern, not a programmer.) I'll reach out to Dr. Blackthorne (he really should be a doctor) and see when the IQ gang is available.
  25. The Skate-o-Rama is one of the hardest sections of the entire series. You have to be very patient and try, try again. Running SQ4 in ScummVM actually gives you a fair chance. Also, turn the game speed up.
