  1. Studio back up and running. Maybe I should do that country-western album I've always wanted to do before doing a new Historian episode. Thoughts?
  2. Sounds good! I'll look forward to see where this'll go. Once we figure out what type of game we're making, we can craft a story that takes advantage of the game mechanics.
  3. Mr. China: Yes, when the time comes. Things are much less stressful now. I'll have time to finish setting things up and get back in the "studio" (i.e. my bedroom, in my underpants). Mr. Milliways: My wife doesn't listen to the podcast, either. She gets enough of me giving excited lectures on dull shit on a daily basis.
  4. Honestly, hearing Pete Toleman belt out "Always On My Mind" is cringe-inducing in all the right ways. :) I'm just imagining Gareth's wife off to the side, going, "Right, he's officially off the deep end. This'll be a hard one to explain to mum."
  5. Sure, I got some ideas. :) I'd love to hear more about how you plan to turn this into a game, though. Will it be a 1st-person point-and-click, like the Tex Murphy games? How will it control? What length are you shooting for? If I were you, I'd start off with a short game as kind of a "proof of concept," then, when all that works out, move on to a full-length game. But I'm not you. :)
  6. You'd have to talk to The Pope, man. I'm pretty sure the role of sycophantic sidekick is already taken -- by me. But you never know. I do know Pope would never knowingly or willingly set someone on fire. So that's a bonus either way you look at it.
  7. Nothing like a flood of lies and slander to start your day. Thanks, Darren.
  8. Nah, Pete's all talk and no balls.
  9. I knew I could count on your support, man.
  10. Sure, you could do that. But wouldn't perhaps a top-down Legend of Zelda-style NES adventure game be more fun? Like Zelda, but without all the stats and weapons and shit.
  11. Well, that was unexpectedly heartbreaking. I'm up for whatever you need. Plot ideas, writing, playtesting. I'm shit with graphics and 3D models, though.
  12. Can we get Joe Cassara in on this shit?
  13. Ah, thank you! Shit, I forgot we even used to have front page news. ;)
  14. Well, I am also sorry to inform you all that there will be no Space Quest Historian episode this week. I thought I would have time to set everything up and record one this week, but then -- a miracle and a challenge occurred, all at the same time. Our lost kitty, who ran away on Nov. 2nd, came back this past Sunday. Which is great news. The challenge has been to acclimatize him not only to home life again (pretty easy, in fact), but to the presence of another kitty which we got in the interim of his disappearance in our very small 2-room apartment (much, much harder). This task has pretty much taken up every moment of my free time. So, sorry, everyone! Real life once again rears its ugly head. But, comparatively, in a much more positive sense this time around!
  15. Also, this would be a fantastic time to break out the awesome-looking sprites that Akril drew, back when we were talking about having a tool chest of graphics for fan games. Now I can't seem to bloody find them! :/
  16. This is a pretty damn cool idea. It's going to be a bitch keeping track of which episodes tie in to which, and -- if it takes off -- I foresee many forks in the story where someone goes in one direction while another goes in a completely different direction. Doesn't bother me, though. I like a bit of chaos. :)
  17. Well, since they managed to do a KQ5 (right?) port for NES, I'm sure you could do the same thing with SQ1 -- i.e. keep it adventure-y and not change the actual gameplay too much.
  18. Posted this to the Two Guys' Tumblr: http://guysfromandromeda.tumblr.com/post/103904789543/sqn-user-milo83-made-a-pretty-nifty-model-of Please keep us in the loop on future updates. I'm really keen on seeing where you take this. :)
  19. This sounds so cool. Actively keeping an eye on developments.
  20. Could be a fun idea, though, if you were to somehow "retrofit" SQ1VGA to NES. Graphics would need to be redrawn, obviously, to suit the somewhat odd dimensions and color depth of the NES. And the music would need to be redone in the "2 sawwave, 1 sinewave, 1 noise channel" NES system. I have no idea how one would go about it, but it does sound like fun.
  21. Did I mention the "Von Zell hunt" in GK2? That genuinely creeped me out. I hate sequences where, if you stand still for too long, something jumps your ass and kills you. That goes double for fucking man-wolves tearing your goddamn windpipe out and eating it on camera.
  22. Controlled manner? That thing was scooting all over the place. It had about as much control over its movement as I have over my propensity for profanity.
  23. And it all might happen sooner than you think ... dun-dun-duuuuun!
  24. The 11th Hour: I'm not going to bitch about the logic puzzles themselves, 'cos that's just my pet peeve, and it really is the bread and butter of the 7th Guest series. But half of the puzzles starting out in unwinnable states? That's just fuckin' cheap.
