Steampunk is a genre that doesn’t get as much love as it deserves. Like its cousin, cyberpunk, it deals with themes of advanced technology (for its time, at least) and with the plight of a downtrodden people, forced to live in disgusting and poor conditions, while the upper class lives off of wealth. Unlike cyberpunk, though, its generally represented in a past setting (usually in the 1800s) instead of the near future. Enter Blackmore, the latest in an ever increasing stable of crowdfunded adventure games and paying homage to this underutilized subsection of science fiction storytelling.

Al Lowe retires (again), probably due to issues with Paul Trowe
Intendant S replied to Shendue's topic in The Rocket Bar
Maybe, but Toleman is actually an entertaining character. "He Who Shall Not Be Named" is just sad. -

I've known Josh long enough to see through the ruse. Like Justin said, the comment left by "Josh Mandel" is not at all like him. To anyone in the know, it's quite obvious who this impostor is. (This is one "Josh" that I wouldn't mind setting on fire in a dilapidated old cabin) -

I doubt it'll be the end of Larry, but I'm sure it's the end of Al's involvement of anything beyond a consultant position. And it's certainly not going to be with Trowe. -
The awesome guys at Infamous Quests just launched a Kickstarter for an old school hint book for their Quest for Infamy retro-style adventure game. Complete with the red cellophane decoder that we all remember and love from the glory days of Sierra On-Line. Also, if you missed out on the original campaign, you can get a copy (physical big box or digital) on some of the tiers. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1992695780/the-quest-for-infamy-companion-art-strategy-hint-b/

Thank god that was an old article. I nearly had a heart attack myself. Just the word "Reloaded" leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

I have to agree with Frede on this. The article itself has some good stuff, and I agree with a lot of it, but the author still needs to get some of his facts straight. As stated, Lowe stepped down...not Trowe. As far as I know, the CEO still has complete control over Replay. -
Your backed Kickstarters that have delivered

I got my code and will give it a go when I can, which probably won't be before tomorrow. Good to know that reviews are a no-no until the 28th. -
I have no clue on the status. I haven't heard anything for quite some time.

They actually DID have a proper testing group. John Carsey and I coordinated with a bunch of volunteers to hammer out any bugs and make it a seamless release. And we all know how that all went down. I have no idea what happened internally after I was let go. -

I can only speak for myself, but my own experience in dealing with Paul is that as long as you're kissing his ass he'll be happy. But, the first time you say anything negative, no matter how small, he blows up and tries to make your life a living hell. Until his outburst on the SpaceVenture update in October, he and I had at least a halfway decent working relationship. As soon as I defended the Two Guys and refused to take back what I said about him, he went on a rampage. That's certainly no way for the CEO of a company to act. -

I do believe that Josh tried to keep Paul reigned in. And it did shut him up for a while. When he left, all hell broke loose. -
I can do deep and emotive. :P Seriously, I used to do a good Vader impression. Not so much anymore. ;)

Nooooo! Not Priapic Mountain! Anyone but Toleman! He's got it out for me!

I, too, really hope that this dies down soon. All of this business is really taking a toll on me and I just want it to end. To answer some of your comments, shoptroll (love the name, btw): The big surprise in January is most likely the Leisure Suit Larry Casino game they've been talking about for months. I'd be extremely surprised that Paul would announce another full-blown PnC remake with both Al and Josh out of the picture. Even if it was done, nobody in the know will support it. I haven't heard anything from the Fester Mudd team in ages. While I was still a member of the forums, there was no talk of a second part even being made let alone published. I did rather enjoy the first part, though, and would love to see more...just not as long as Replay releases it. Just before being kicked off the testing team in October, I got to see a lot of the changes made to version 2.0. If the problem with the gambling save/load problem that you're talking about is the one where it resets your bet when you load, then you should be happy that it was fixed. -

I agree with you, Tomimt. Despite certain issues (the animation being the big one), the game was pretty good. I really did enjoy the writing. And it had so much potential to continue the series. Unfortunately, Paul's behaviour soured any chance, at least in the short-term, for any future Larry games. -

And that's nowhere near everything that he's done. But, like Frede said, it's the most important stuff. Just be prepared. There's some scary shit there. -

Roger's death in jello... remake in Minecraft!

Now I want some Roger-flavored Jello. Thanks. -
I just can't believe that one tiny little man (in every sense of the word) can be so vindictive and vile.

Heh, we'll see. I'm not trying to keep it a secret but I'm also not exactly advertising. I might give you something from such a...unique perspective. Knowing me, I'll end up with a ten minute rant if I do.
