  1. Sorry for the double post; on a phone, but ... Sam, it's obvious! Hang out with us for a couple hours, then go to the party! :)
  2. The 27th is a definite go. Both The Pope and Mark Crowe are ready to boogie, and we're assuming Scott is, too, because Patrick will be right there, forcing his hand.
  3. Well, it's official. The 6th Hangout will be on Saturday at 10pm (my time), and these times for everyone else: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?msg=Space+Quest+Superfan+Hangout+%236+-+Music&iso=20121013T22&p1=69&ah=4 :) Things we'll need for the Hangout: MP3's of our favorite Space Quest-themes. (You COULD also screen share a YouTube-video, if pressed. But let's try and be nice to the folks watching the stream.) When we start the Hangout, I think we should stick to music from the official games as much as possible, but we can derail into other areas as we wind down. I figure we should each prepare at least 3 -- but no more than 5 -- of our favorite pieces from the original series. Also, while someone's playing a tune, it's good manners to let the tune finish and not interrupt more than the someone playing it. ;) Then, after we've talked about those, we can get into interesting fan covers or soundtracks for fan games. Hope to see you. Raise of hands, how many are thinking of coming? And how many are bringing an instrument of sorts? ;)
  4. Yeah, she did a lot more than the artwork, but that's the stuff I'm most impressed with. :) Also, I don't want to hire her. She would then have the option of quitting! Besides, I couldn't afford to pay anyone in anything except for abuse.
  5. Ok, a Roger Wilco tattoo? This I gotta see.
  6. I wish I had my own Akril -- or Mark Crowe, or whatever. An artist to do my evil bidding. (I imagine Jess' biddings are evil, or at least with sinister intent.) I have so many game ideas (some of them fully designed) and no real way of getting them out. Treasure your Akril, Jess. :)
  7. If everyone's up for Saturday, maybe I should start announcing it. A Hangout announced ahead of time, wow ...
  8. Yeah, that was really, really weird. Twitter said my tweet with the link was "too long; you'll have to be more clever." And so I out-clevered it with my, um, cleverness! Apart from that, I've plastered it all over the Google+ page, the Space Quest group on Facebook -- and someone should really write a SQN front page news post about it. ;) (Okay, okay, I'll do it, but I'm off to a meeting in 15 minutes, so it'll have to be later today. I SAID LATER! Don't make me turn this spaceship around.) At this point you must be tired of the continuous tongue bath I'm giving you and Akril, but really, this thing is fantastic.
  9. Speaking as a lucky person who has been fortunate enough to play this before its release, I can guarantee that you're all in for a treat. This thing really is an immense achievement. Tomorrow's going to be a big day. :)
  10. I have no problem with a Saturday Hangout at 9.30 pm my time. :) Brandon, will you bring a guitar to the Hangout?
  11. But with all this horseplay, how are we for time with a Hangout before the 27th? Who would be interested in a Music Hangout on Saturday the 13th? Besides Fred, that is. ;)
  12. I like that one. ;) Superfan Hangout #1: The Andromedan Encounter Superfan Hangout #2: Revenge of the Deadly Fan Games Superfan Hangout #3: The Missing Floppies Superfan Hangout #4: The Space Quest Olympics Superfan Hangout #5: "Curse My Indecision," Cried the Ferde
  13. Chris, Mark and Scott are up for a Hangout on the 27th. PCJ and I will be coordinating you unruly, unkempt fans from here, and The Pope and PCJ will be handling the technical details at the convention. (Yes, PCJ is everywhere. You should know this by now.) So ... What do you guys think? Hold up the Roundtable Hangout-idea until the 27th, when we can get the actual Two Guys in on the fun? And what theme should we go with inbetween? I'm partial to the Music Hangout, myself. ;)
  14. It was ... er, still is, I guess ... a sequel to the "A Life Worth Losing" game I did. All the reviewers from Channel Awesome/That Guy with the Glasses/Cinemassacre would be stuck in their individual hells and trying to find their way out.
  15. According to the Collection manual, for a short time in 1993, Sprint even gave copies of Space Quest 5 away to customers who switched to Sprint -- "which we thought was a class act, since they paid us for them first."
  16. I've e-mailed the Space Pope and the Two Guys about hopefully setting up a Hangout for the 27th. It's a Saturday, which is perfect. If we can get them in there, just for a couple of hours, we could really have some fun. I like the Roundtable idea very much. It would be a great opportunity for us to get all nostalgic and teary-eyed about what we loved about the Space Quest games. To generate interest for the new SpaceVenture, though, I think we should also talk about all the things we're looking forward to with the new game. Just to have some semblance of order, we could think up a list of "topics" to cover beforehand, and one of us (probably me, unless someone else wants to step up) could "host"/m.c. the event. I think that idea works best if we can get the Two Guys in on a Hangout on the 27th, though. If we have a fan-roundtable beforehand, then get 2GFA in, it could basically turn into a re-run. I'm all for "more talking, less gameplay" though. Other ideas for a 6th (really 5th) Hangout: Flash your collection of Space Quest goodies and talk at length about how cool you think you are. The Music of Space Quest: We could play our favorite tracks from the series and talk about how cool they are. The musically inclined (or MusicallyInspired!) of us could perhaps even give a live performance of some sort. Maybe we could get Ken Allen in for a guest appearance? Game development discussion: Those of you who have been involved with game development (in a Space Quest capacity) could regale us with stories about how cool they are. Pictures, in-development tidbits, what not. Getting people like Colin Davis, Blackthorne and Chris Ushko in on this would be great. (We'd have to put a cap on how much Fred could talk about VSB, though. ;) ) Akril and Jess could plug Pledge Quest II like there's no tomorrow. And I'd still like to hear Chris Geroux talk about the old days with Klik-N-Play games. :)
  17. If we could get The Two Guys in on a Roundtable Hangout, that would completely blow my mind, rock my world and all manners of other superlative descriptions of coolness. We could probably squeeze in another Hangout before the 27th, though. I will contact the Space Pope and see if we can get something together for the 27th, though.
  18. Yay! We're ON, baby. Looking forward to seeing you in two hours time! So sorry Jess couldn't be there, but I'll have a tearful shout-out to my dear old friend on-camera, live, for everyone to point their finger at and laugh at.
  19. In that case, I vote the time is SOLID. 2pm EST / 11am EDT / 8pm Denmarkian time. :)
  20. Well, Brandon (MusicallyInspired) can't make the 2pm EST/11am PDT Hangout. So we can still do DatEngineer's time, if you want. Leave a message here; if no one challenges, we'll do it at the above time, though.
  21. You know, Johnathon, I'm totally with you, and I'm glad you brought it up. I do think it's because we haven't got a lot to talk about, and information from the Two Guys -- even for those of us lucky enough to have a direct link to them -- has been a bit stagnant as of late. I know for a fact it's not because they're slagging off; in fact, they're busy as all hell. We also have to remember, back at Sierra, the Guys were used to just being holed up, doing their stuff, with no Twitter or hungry fans beating down their social media doors to hear the latest updates -- apart from the few select annoying fans who e-mailed them constantly (ahem). They were used to just sitting around at Sierra, slaving away at the games, and not really hearing any feedback on their work until the games were released. The SpaceVenture is also still in the conceptual phase with concept art being generated and technical details still being worked out. Once development kicks into high gear, I am sure this "slump" will seem like a distant memory. All we can do is poke the fire and keep it alive so that there will still be interested people around to witness the barrage of awesome that's to come.
  22. I'll be on IRC if anyone wants to fight me on this. ;) 5pm EST would mean midnight my time. I can do that, too, but I'd rather have Brandon in on the fun.
  23. When I said "same time as last, different day," I meant this: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?msg=Superfan+Hangout+No.+5+%28really+4%29+-+Other+favorite+games&iso=20120929T20&p1=69&ah=4 I still haven't figured out how to change the title of threads. ;)
  24. Maybe we should split this roll-call into a different thread, now that we're on the 5th (4th) Hangover... er, Hangout.
