So I did some searching for the amazing font used on the first three Space Quest box covers and I found it! FIrst of all I must mention a fantastic variation that Goatmeal created which matches the in-game titles for SQ1 and SQ2 (but which are slightly different from the box, namely the A having a flat upper side instead of a rounded point).

He also did a font for the credits text:

After some searching he found a close approximation of the text style but as a thinner font:

Turns out the font is part of a larger font family pack called Digital Sans by Elsner+Flake. Unfortunately, they're not free and the whole pack is $350. Nobody happens to own this font family pack do they? lol

    https://www.myfonts.com/fonts/ef/digital-sans-now/

They're not exactly the same, but "Digital Sans Now ML ExtraBold," "Digital Sans Now ML Black," "Digital Sans Now ML Cond ExtraBold," and "Digital Sans Now ML Cond Black" seem to be the closest variations in the pack! The differences between ML and ML Cond seem to be that ML Cond has a little more height. Besides the 'P' not being quite the same, the 'Q' has differences as well. But it's quite close! Here's an example:

I would like either someone who's imitating Gary or someone very similar in style. I can very easily imagine people being annoyed by an imitator, but I personally would be fine with it.

I came here to suggest George Lowe and blow people's minds, but now I guess I'll  just jump on that bandwagon.

Ideally I want it to be someone who can do a really good Gary Owens impression, or at least mimic the essential qualities that made Gary Owens' voice
perfect as the narrator... how he was able to switch from epic-narrator-boom to more intimate-cutting-sarcasm depending on the line.

As others have mentioned, George Lowe would be great as he is pretty much the official Gary Owens cover-voice with all his great work on
    Space Ghost Coast-to-Coast...

I think it's good to have someone imitate the voice... when Mel Blanc died, they didn't change the voices of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, etc. they
got people who could do the same character voices really well.

JimmyTwoBucks reacted to ewmailing in Space Quest was Sierra's true crown jewel
There are a lot of factual problems with this.

Space Quest got plenty of marketing and support. Anybody who remembers Sierra games almost always rattles off King’s Quest, then Space Quest (and Leisure Suit Larry).

King’s Quest was the flag ship. It sold more. It appealed to a wider base. Comedy in general is harder to get mass appeal. But this doesn’t mean Space Quest was not a money maker. Space Quest got 6 games. Aside from King’s Quest, only Leisure Suit Larry got as many. You don’t do that if the games aren’t making money. When Sierra first jumped to use professional musicians, King’s Quest 4 got William Goldstein, and Ken Williams got Supertramp drummer Bob Siebenberg for Space Quest 3. When Scott and Mark wanted Gary Owens for narrator for Space Quest 4, Sierra was on board and agreed instead of putting up a fight.

Also, most Sierra games outsold LucasArts by magnitudes. The LucasArts guys have stated their constant frustration that Sierra constantly outsold them by so much.

Ignoring the salient point that Scott and Mark could have never created Space Quest without Ken and Sierra, this could have never been a LucasArts game. The LucasArts guys have stated in interviews they hated the things Space Quest did. (They didn’t name Space Quest, but some Sierra game, but they remembered vague things about dying all the time, like picking up a piece of glass and cutting themselves and dying instantly which they hated. I think they were (mis)remembering Space Quest 3 picking up the sheet metal at the beginning. They felt that the authors were sadistic that hated the player and wanted to kill them.) This led them to things like the no-death policy. Ironically, it was probably Space Quest that help make LucasArts what they became.

Hey, I just wanted to say that I'm the admin of the We Want a New SQ group, and yeah, I was quite an asshole on SG. For that I'm sorry, but I'd hope that me as a person wouldn't, as some have suggested here, disassociate from the group due to me personally. That's why I made a number of respectable Sierra-fandom related people co-admins, I wanted to bring together a group of people who are both well-liked and well-versed in Sierra and Space Questy stuff. I really doubt anyone from the "Sierra" brand or Activision know who I am. But that's besides the point...

I made this group as yes, a vocal petition. I figured now would be the best time to try to get as many people together to say they wanted a new SQ as possible given that Sierra-related stuff is kind of in the spotlight again. I would not however want The Odd Gentlemen to design a new SQ unless they hired Scott as Creative Director and Mark as Art Director on it. Ideally, I'd want Scott to design and direct the game, Mark to co-design and lead the art team, and Josh Mandel to write a lot of the narration. I think I can speak for a great deal of SQ fans when I say an SQ game that didn't feature either all or at least Two of the Three Guys wouldn't be acceptable.

While I would ideally love a hi-res 2D, retro style SQ7, I think we all know that will sadly never happen. But I think out of all the Sierra properties, Space Quest has the best chance of working really well as an episodic series; it already had that 'old sci-fi serial' feel to it, and it was the most intelligent of Sierra's series IMO - It was their Monkey Island and a revival stands a good chance of being a success. I think if we speak loud enough and SpaceVenture does well enough, it could happen. Space Quest was a big hit for Sierra way back when and Sci-Fi is as big as it ever was, given the popularity of nuStar Trek and Doctor Who. That said, I would ideally like a theoretical SQ sequel to be, for one, a sequel rather than a "reimagining" and to have more traditional game mechanics than the new KQ game did. KQ was always a testing ground for new formulas and styles; SQ on the other hand always had a set style of gameplay which demanded a high level of interactivity, and outside of hiring a professional Sci-Fi writer or Matt Groening, no one can match Scott/Mark/Josh's humor.

And to sum this all up, once again, I apologize for having been such an asshole, the community had just gotten really divided and really ugly and there were a lot of bad vibes and I guess I was in a bad position (RL wise) where I was much more susceptible to it. Wish I could take things I said back and repair my standing with some of you but c'est la vie. I just hope you don't think of me as "Paul Trowe 2.0", and I hope some of you would be willing to join and help the effort to get a final Roger Wilco adventure out there. It's been 20 years, the guy's had enough naptime.

I liked it, I really did - but it absolutely felt like a King's Quest in Monkey Island Clothing.  Doesn't mean it's a bad game, in fact - it's quite good.  But it feels weird as a KQ game to me.  That, however, doesn't matter to the modern gaming public, so I'll just go drink my ensure, eat my prunes and pray for a bowel movement, like usual.

Nothing will ever top doing chores for the wizard, talking to Cedric, and climbing the beanstalk. Old Ken Williams knew how to get a good game done.

So the new Sierra tweeted that the new KQ game would fill over 9000 floppy disks. I pointed out to them that it has surpassed KQXLVIII (The Quest for More Disk Space) by at least 467 disks. (which means it's over 12 GB)
