  1. Seeing as we've reached our goal (and surpassed it so far by over $8k!) you can now pledge via PayPal! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2112639455/mages-initiation-a-classic-sierra-style-adventure Another $1900 or so and we'll reach our first stretch goal!
  2. Ah, but it doesn't just have the NES palette. There's also Game Boy, DOS EGA, Grayscale, Hercules Monochrome, and CGA, I think. Doesn't make a lick of difference to your theory. It's just wonderful nerd-catering that I love and appreciate.
  3. Have fun, guys. Wish me luck. Tomorrow I'm moving.
  4. I'm not going to speak to the psychology of advertisement or anything. I have my own opinions about that as well. I'm just saying it wasn't a random nobody character on the box.
  5. The lone female appears that way in game...for a plot-centric reason. It's not just random art for the cover. Indeed, all of the characters have a place in the plot.
  6. Hey, guys! Just wanted to share with you the news that a game I've been composing music for for the past while, Mage's Initiation: Reign of the Elements by Himalaya Studios (aka AGD Interactive), makers of Al Emmo and the KQ and QFG2 remakes, is now a project up live on Kickstarter! Mage's Initiation is a classic-style RPG/Adventure game with hi-res graphics. Also, Daniel Stacey wrote and designed it. There are tons of rewards and stretch goals with loads of content and swag. I was surprised at the amount of physical rewards, actually! Take a gander. There's lots of sample content to gawk at as well as some preview tracks from the game. Please check it out and spread the word if it's up your alley. See more at: Mage's Initiation: Reign of the Elements Kickstarter http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=isHYeocsOj8
  7. (even though both look like the same corridor from different angles, yes)
  8. Simply gorgeous. The first shot reminds me of the Eureka from SQ5 and the second is totally the pipe tube from SQ3 in the garbage freighter.
  9. And voted. Good luck everybody!
  10. Congrats to everyone who got a nomination!
  11. I'll give this to Phantom Menace, it had the best, most exciting, and most impressive lightsabre duel of all 6 films.
  12. Well, seeing as this game was made by Brian Provinciano, yes the very same Brian who created SCI Studio, Locker Gnome Quest, and oogles of SCI and AGI tools for the community (along with AGI256), I'd say it's a pretty legitimate homage.
  13. LordKat's fans? I don't know... Maybe we should disable comments for the hangout YouTube links?
  14. Sorry, Sunday's out for me.
  15. Agh. Forgot I was going out of town to visit family this weekend. Probably won't be there as a result.
  16. Mayhaps. Seriously, I'll try. Maybe if I spend enough time with my wife and family Friday night she'll let me hang with you guys Sat afternoon.
  17. I'm interested in Conquests of Camelot or KQ5. And no Sierra games are abandonware. Actually, abandonware doens't exist. At best games can turn freeware. None of that has happened to Sierra IP games, though. So it's technically illegal, yes.
  18. Finally, I'm releasing the tracks I made for the SQ2 remake by Infamous Adventures. Along with some bonus tracks that weren't included in the game! I'm calling it Soundtrack A because it's not the entire soundtrack. There were two other very capable composers who also composed for the game. I did most of the space sections of the game. Some (not all) of James Mulvale's themes can be found on his Space Quest SoundCloud along with some unreleased SQ3 material he made. Isaac Lundgren's SQ2 score is available at his website for streaming. Since I lost many of the original masters, many of these are lossy versions only (possibly compressed a couple times over, I can't remember). They are all MP3 and some of theme are still in their loopable states. Space Quest II Remake - Soundtrack A (MediaFire) 47.7MB ZIP 25 Tracks in all. Here's the tracklist: Introduction (Space Quest II Theme) Opening (Life Sucks...Again) Sweeping the Deck Xenon Orbital Station 4 Ambushed! Dark Lord of the Sloth (Vohaul's Theme) SQ Sports Vohaul's Asteroid (Theme A) Do What You Love, Love What You Do (Cleaning Bot) Holodeck Unwanted Affection (Alien Chase) Ape Kaptain Vohaul's Asteroid (Theme B) Monolith Burger Entrance Acid Pit Roger Shrunk Escape Countdown BONUS - Cleaning Bot (Droid Speaker Version) BONUS - A Greatly Exaggerated Tale of Adventure (SQ4 Metal Medley) BONUS - SQ3 Garbage Freighter UNUSED - Dark Tunnels of Labion UNUSED - Glowing Cave UNUSED - Glowing Cave (Danger) UNUSED - Ancient Statue UNUSED - Vohaul's Asteroid This post has been promoted to an article
  19. Totally. Would love to talk about the other reasons why I loved Sierra, beyond Space Quest (which, of course, was first and foremost).
  20. And per my comment early on in the video, this small patch will cause Space Quest IV to be even more glorious than it already is. Unzip and plop in your SQ4 folder. (only works for the floppy versions) sq4_epicpatch.zip
  21. Nice. So apparently the on air died just after Troels' riveting commentary on the attention to detail that composers who are also drummers give to rhythm. Causing Scott to have the best closing words for the video.
  22. Where's the link to the YouTube? Does that take a while to go up? I'd like to hear how my audio quality was with this webcam. Good times! We'll always have bagpipes, a certain controversial Phantasmagoria scene, and flushing babies.
  23. Might be able to do that.
