  1. No problem, BigD. Can't wait to see your submission!
  2. I think deep down we all want to see an SQ3 remake, not to mention more SQ fangames!
  3. Nov 1st, people. Deadline is Nov 1st! Plenty of time! :)
  4. Yeah, you know this thread has run its course anyway, I think. I'm going to lock it now because everything that can be said has been said and anything more is just going to turn down dark corners we don't need to take. We don't usually lock threads or delete posts in this forum, but in this rare case I think it's warranted. Here's the thread for the latest SpaceVenture update! http://www.spaceques...iticism-thread/
  5. Ok, I'm going to make a executive decision here and stop this before it goes any further. I think Paul has dug enough of his own grave. I don't believe this needs to go any further and I'm sure many of you agree with me. I don't want this place turning into Paul Trowe bashing central and I don't want this to be the place where worse news potentially breaks. I moreso like the higher road we've taken thus far and don't want to start resorting to slander. Mostly because its unnecessary. So I'm deleting posts associated with....that. Let's keep this in good form, guys. No hard feelings and nothing personal, I just don't think this forum needs THAT kind of attention. Please don't bring *that* topic up again here. If you want to talk about it please find somewhere else to do so. I don't feel right about this place being the place that people.....discover things. Especially seeing as this doubles (for the moment) as the Two Guys' official forum for SpaceVenture and their company.
  6. For a while IA was working on SQ3, there was even a plan to make this first section of SQ3 playable when you beat SQ2 as an easter egg if you beat it with full points or something. Instead we just put in the trailer sequence. It takes a long time to do a remake and it's a lot of work especially if you're not being paid. And now that all of these adventure Kickstarters have become so successful, it was deemed unnecessary and not worth it to do whole remakes like that. For one thing, ActiVision could take more notice of these things now that they're in the public eye more. IA managed to slip by under the radar without getting the same license that AGDI and POS got (and that SQ7 was offered), so we figured we'd better not push it. Also, after doing someone else's games for years it's about time to start doing something original. Who wants to be doing remakes forever? It's too bad SQ3 never got remade (or KQ4 either, for that matter). It'd be nice to have all the EGA games get the VGA treatment, but I think IA made a good decision to bow out when they did. For years groups like AGDI and IA kept adventures alive with great remakes, and now the genre has finally made a comeback. Remakes aren't needed anymore, really.
  7. Deadline is Nov 1st, you're definitely on time!
  8. I made a new thread for this topic as I don't think it's necessary to associate it with the other criticism thread any further at this point. Carry on!
  9. I've actually found a solution. Thank you for your offer, though!
  10. Update just went up! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/spaceventure/two-guys-spaceventure-by-the-creators-of-space-que/posts
  11. It also seems like Handbrake only converts to MP4 and MKV, unless I'm missing something. Movie Maker will only accept WMV or AVI. And for some reason Ultimate Video Converter (another open source transcoder) is failing to convert MP4 files.
  12. Yeah, I have VirtualDub but, but it seemed like just a simple capture program and dint have any editing features that I could see. If it does it has even less than Live Movie Maker. I've got the older movie maker, though, so that should suffice.
  13. Gah!! Why do people do these dumb things??? It's like that FTP program Filezilla which has major security issues. After using it, three of the websites I manage were hacked by malware. Drives me up the wall. I wonder if there's a good open source video editor...thanjs for the head's up in any case! I still have the other option.
  14. In lieu of being reminded upon its use that Windows Live Movie Maker is a piece of cancer-laced roach-infested constipated-yet-surprisingly-moist giraffe turd, I promptly dismissed it as a viable tool for this video. However, I discovered that Windows Movie Maker 2.6 (the version that came with Vista that still retains all the old features) was available. I have that now, but it only imports MPG, AVI, and Microsoft's own ridiculously worthless codecs. So I went hunting for a decent high quality video converter so I could make everything AVI before importing them into Movie Maker. Found a couple nice ones......that all add watermarks to the output video unless you buy them. So I looked for an open source converter instead. Found one. Works pretty well. It was about that time I discovered that I ran into this problem a while back....and found a free-for-non-commercial-use video editor alternative to Movie Maker altogether called VideoPad Video Editor which is basically everything that old Movie Maker used to be....with the added feature of being able to import any video format into the project! So no converting! All that work....for nothing. Oh well. Just felt like sharing that. I'm not sure what it did for you....but you're welcome. You may now continue on with your lives enriched by my dazzlingly inspiring story. You can do anything!
  15. They never imagined they'd get that far anyway. I believe I remember one oe both of them saying they treated each game like it was the last one. However, I don't think they would have limited themselves to having to do something like that. They'd probably have just ignored them.
  16. Paul just must have not believed that he needed the community to succeed. What a wake up call this must have been. Or if he's still deluded enough to think otherwise, he'll find out soon enough. It's true, this really is too niche of a market and without community support to make it happen (and we could have made it happen) you're doomed to failure. You can't just treat your fanbase like crap and expect to make a profit or even break even if you're not a AAA developer.
  17. I'm going to say Nov 1st as a tentative deadline. I've also added it to the OP. 3 weeks or so seems like plenty of time.
  18. That's fine. I think we can safely assume that this won't make it before the update. Take your time, people! Don't strain yourselves! Frede, your video was great! Exactly once again the kind of thing I was invisioning.
  19. Sounds perfect for this type of thing!
  20. Yeah, I just visited their new "forums" yesterday for the first time since I left in March and couldn't believe the mess I saw. And against all feedback from the community and moderators alike. Alienating fanbases must be the popular trend lately. ...except here with the 2 Guys! Yikes! I hope he's not done permanently. I'd rather he not be under Paul's tyrannical rein, but this is an unfortunate circumstance all around. Why couldn't Paul just keep his mouth shut? Totally unfair.
  21. I've never seen a forum die so quickly in my life.
  22. Happy Birthday indeed!
  23. Your presence would be most favourable and honouring if you did submit, Serena! Especially considering the circunstances! Don't worry you'll fit in with the rest of us nicely! Or at least me, at any rate. I don't like a lot of visual focus being on me either very much. Especially when trying to "act". Irishmile, no real deadline. Like I said, if we could get it all done before the 16th somehow that'd be pretty neat. If people need more time to contribute that's not really a problem. I'd like to keep it from spinning relatively out into the waiting room galaxy, so maybe within a month from now? I really don't think it should take that long and its probably overkill, but I guess all things need a deadline so that they actually get finished. I don't expect we'll have to wait that long, though.
  24. Very nice! Keeping my eye on this!
