Hey folks, Just a quick post asking if anyone has the downloaded soundtrack from the SQ4.5 fangame website. The original website has a dead link, and I recently got told about it- it has a number of good SQ remixes/orchestral enhancements in it, especially 4/5 tracks.

Thanks Troels. @ Pcj: Compatibility mode doesn't work, and I'm running XP, so I can't use IE9. Surely there's a workaround for such a small problem?

Birthday was Sept 8th, so last weekend. :) I was busy with the family sort of stuff (mainly taking phone calls from 9000 miles away!). It starts Tulsa time 1:00pm, so hopefully I can make it. Just gotta figure out how to make a 'Hangout' work. (BTW, I have this issue on this forum where when i write a post, my text doesn't show up, so I have to highlight to read what I wrote.. any suggestions? I'm using IE8.)

Dude, more photos requested :)

Sounds good, Torls. :) Danke. Sam: Any chance of being in OK?

Sorry guys, was my birthday weekend. Maybe next weekend? I'm working mostly every day on SQ4, finishing the overdue beta.

"I don't get it ... Ooooh, NOW I get it!"
Spikey replied to Troels Pleimert's topic in Starcon Academy
Recently playing SQ4 I found all kinds of things; most notably on Estros where almost every click event is a sexual innuendo. I have even more respect for Mark and Scott than I ever did ;) And I love the "Scrump off," line! Just a classic case of someone being nasty to Roger. Especially the delivery from Gary. I didn't realise that was a noun, I figured it was a madeup word. Well, I shan't be Googling it, due to Johno's response. -
Danny Bloks, wow. What a pleasure. I spoke with Kain on MSN the other day, he works for NASA or something! You and I need to talk, my friend.
-
I mean, you could do it that way, and I used to, but I like having the modules separate rather than 'daisy chained' , for one thing, you'll have less hiss and less devices powered on unnecessarily. Flipside, you have to have multiple USB->MIDI connections. Of course you can daisy chain the MIDI and keep the audio separate.. but anyway. All of the above will work.

I'm playing Heroes of Ruin for 3DS(which was also watered down for casual gamers :( ), Mario games on DS and SNES, oh, an a little game you all might have heard of called Diablo III (yes, I still haven't beaten Normal).

Brandon: Laura Bow 2 is not a great SC-55 game, it was composed for the MT-32. The SC support is not good, it's just the MT files run through a converter (as was often the case). I don't understand why games of that era that got a CD release didn't get better GM support.. or at least a retooled soundtrack. Other greats I left out are KQ7, Krondor, Eco Quest 2, Larry 6, and the old Incredible Machine games. That's more of a complete list of 'excellent Sierra SC games'. Of course others exist that are still good :)
-
May I recommend playing SQ5 or 6 :) Both excellent SC-55 games. QFG 3 and 4 are both gold as well. And who could forget GK1 or KQ6..

Point n lick! I love it! Hmm, this is a hard one. The Stowaway sequence in SQ4, or maybe the Shuttle Bay or Space scene in SQ6.. SQ5 where Rog graduates, SQ2 at Vohaul's fortress, SQ3 the closing scenes with the 2 Guys, or Phleebhut, SQ1 the opening scene, or really anything in the game at all.
-
I like it, man! Great job. Good job capturing the spirit of Rog's image too.

The z makes it hard.. but it definitely would fit. I tend to think it's a generic spacey sort of name, but it's definitely possible..

BLusk and Vonster! OMG! Great to see you two awesome chaps :D

Replay Games drop Adventure Mob For Fusion Interactive
Spikey replied to Monolith_Pig's topic in The Rocket Bar
Yeah, I post on Facebook calling myself "Josh Mandel's biggest fan", as opposed to Sierra's, or anyone else's ;) In no way was I trying to disparage or question his good name. I just think the affair was handled poorly, because if it was as simple as AM taking too long, for god's sake JUST SAY IT and we can move on. Saying words along the line of "we had to dissolve the partnership because of issues" sounds just odd. Anyway. I'm a KS pledger for LSL1. I don't regret it,and I'm not bringing Paul Trowe back into the mix, although I'm sure I legitimately could.. But the 'dream team' of Josh and Al working on a game should be worth pledging, whether it's Larry 8, Larry 1 remake remake, or anything else, really. On a different note, I like the early bits of Larry 2, but not much else. A very negative and punishing game. How many of us died trying to escape the USS Love Tub, or whatever it was called. Oh wait, I got the toupee, but not the Gulp drink, so I died! Better restart the whole game.. ;) LSL3 is my favourite of the series. Excited and worried both about that remake. LSL5-7 have to be improvements over the original, especially LSL5's puzzles and LSL6's plot development. I guess I felt like LSl games were a bell curve, with raking in this order: C->B->A->A->B->C (although to be more technical LSL2 and 7 are more like a C in my eyes, and LSL1VGA and 5 are more like B's). -

+1. Exactly what I've been thinking this week. People keep saying Adventure Mob had red flags.. as much as I love Josho infinity plus, this doesn't make sense. If the developer is risky why was the partnership even announced and they did prelim work for them. Plus, they helped with the KS campaign and threw in personal funds too! And as Pcj touched on, don't forget the big promotional Tel Aviv meeting last month or so. Something doesn't quite add up, although I'm not sure what. -
Nice post, Rachel! :) I'm an Australian who married his online sweetheart (met via Sierra game music of all things!) and now resides in Tulsa, Oklahoma. 25, works as an optician selling glasses. Played Sierra games as a kid, the 'edutainment' titles, about 10 years ago got into the Quests and haven't looked back since. Started the second-largest Sierra game music website, http://www.sierramusiccentral.com (Sierra Music Central), in 2002 with MusicallyInspired, who since then has thankfully (for his sake!) moved onto bigger and brighter things.. ;) I totally identify with the above comments about not having gaming devices and that being a blessing, so I could enjoy all the retro PC titles that a kid could want, especially from Sierra and Apogee. Of course ironically I now spend most of my time on a DS/3DS, but they, they can play DOS (and Win 3.1) now! ;) http://dsx86.patrickaalto.com/

Space Quest IV: Soundtrack 10th/20th anniversary announced on SMC
Spikey replied to Spikey's topic in World O' Fan Wonders
Not so, asking doesn't mean that at all! You're welcome to be a part. Beta test means beta test the 'first draft' of my enhanced SQ4 soundtrack, before I enter round 2 and chop and change things a little. Now 95% of what I make will be the same, but I may need to tweak bass up or down a little, drumkits, or anything else. I may decide I hate what I did to a piece and start over. I may think it's OK but responses from beta testers are bad for a certain piece or whatever. It's just always good to look twice at it and gets folks' opinions before you release a soundtrack for the masses, you know? :) Let me know, happy to have you onboard. -
The game is way too easy on Normal, agreed. I'm about halfway through Act 2 and it's very fun though. I like how it's a more fleshed out game than D2, with random events when you return somewhere and things like that. Stellar, you might want to edit your spoiler in that post, too :)

Space Quest IV: Soundtrack 10th/20th anniversary announced on SMC
Spikey replied to Spikey's topic in World O' Fan Wonders
OK, more than overdue for an update.. x-posted from the SMC forums: OK, updates. I'm working on a few things as far as messing with earlier tracks in the score, but on face value, I'm about 33 out of 41 done as far as the soundtrack's beta goes. Since percentage is my latest buzzword, I'm about 80% done with the soundtrack beta. SMC's 10th anniversary is drawing ever closer, 31st August for those who've forgotten, so I definitely need it done this month! I have mixed feelings about the project. Some tracks are very strong, some not so strong. My goal was to take Tom of QS's SQ4CD and improve upon it, I think some will be better, some worse. most will be like that anyway, but I had big expectations. Unfortunately the MT-32 soundtrack for this game does not always translate so easily to other modules, and I'm having problems getting the exact sound I want without spending DAYS on a single track, like I used to before I worked, which isn't feasible now. Anyway. It will be done soon, and I want you guys to help me with beta testing as always :) (Above line aimed at SMC regulars, but people here are welcome to help me too!) -
Would this mean anything in aquiring Space Quest IP?
Spikey replied to DeepFriedOrat's topic in Andromedan Spaceport
What it hopefully could mean is that voices get to talk into a new ear, and we can talk to them and get the old IP licenced for fangames like SQ7, as one example. Hopefully it'll also be easier for the Guys to get a deal in licencing the SQ IP/Jane for GK, Coles for QFG etc. I wonder what this means for projects who had an agreement with Acti, like LSL1 remake, and "Guys From Andromeda" LLC. -
May I recommend Space Quest IV ;) ("Calling Brandon Blume...") Might give you, uh, inspiration for something ;) Actually, being serious, I think I might have to crank out SQ1VGA sometime soon.. That music rocks.
-
Billybob- excited to hear about your MT-32. I remember SQ1VGA was the first game I tried it with, and is a great one too, as is SQ3 and 4- with the orchestral and cool sounding opening tunes. Anything you need, I'm happy to help out too, I run the other Sierra music website.
