  1. I don't know if I'd like a 1:1 conversion of Freddy. Overlapping it over the original game would mean the return of those tedious pharmaceutical copyright puzzles. Of course, if they could remove those puzzles in the first place, I might be up for it. I can't imagine that the production budget that would go into a 2D remake of a 2D game would be that high compared to all the high-roller 3D games. In fact, it strikes me that it should be easier to remake these games in HD than it would to have made them in the first place given all the modern tools we use. The scope of remaking Freddy Pharkas seems like about less than a quarter of the work I've put into my own games, so if the new HD Larry is a success, we might be looking at a whole new slew of Sierra remakes.
  2. I thought he was confusing "Trial by Plunger" for SQ2+ myself, but... he really did just upload the AGS demo as a prank.
  3. It's just the default AGS demo with SQ music and a background that has IA's address on it. Did you make that?
  4. Nice. An SQ community member (AmayirotAkago) did all six as well and he also does a good job of narrating. On the KQ side of things, Pawdugan over at thatguywiththeglasses.com has been putting out "Let's Play" after "Let's Play" of assorted KQ games along with a retrospective on the series. He's tackling QFG after he's done, but I imagine himself or one of his friends will do the Space Quest series soon enough.
  5. Ah-ha-ha-ha! That one I like!
  6. Awesome stuff, Nige! I really like the song, and the way you presented it in the video. Superb stuff!
  7. It's not sniveling. You're being picky. Let it slide.
  8. Ouch, man. 17 hours? You have double my processor power, and yet I could probably render something like this in 10 minutes. Check your render settings. For the purposes of this animation, a 640x480 render (or less) at 24 fps would suffice. Otherwise, I like the model. Now I'm considering using some of Gary's work for my own reel when the time comes. The animation looks automated, though. I'm guessing you just drop the voice file in and the program does the rest procedurally?
  9. It might be worth locking/moving/deleting this thread and starting the topic over again if we're trying for a fresh start.
  10. I'm not entirely sold on Xenon being a Superman or Periodic Table reference. I'm convinced Xenon was a fictional side-character portrayed in Shakespeare's lost play, "The History of Cardenio" who was once portrayed as having a planet-sized ego and anti-social tenancies which would later become his tragic character flaws when during Act III, Scene II, he would die from drinking dirty bath water just to avoid going to dinner with his mother-in-law. Alas, poor Xenon, we knew him poorly. It's a reference to Dr. Bellows on the show "I Dream of Jeannie." :P
  11. Or a bad place to earn. Hence, "Earn none." :D
  12. ...The SQ community appreciates your enthusiasm. (Say, any chance we can just delete this thread?)
  13. I think the voice actor sounds fine.
  14. Be sure to make a save game in the wooden room, just in case you hit the same bug I did.
  15. Akril's new game is out! "Adventure: All in the Game" is a follow-up to her previous Adventure that takes the player behind the scenes of the adventure game world. I highly recommend this new one because the work she's put into it is phenomenal. The story is solid and full of twists, the characters are great, and her hand-drawn animation is incredible. This is one of the most professional-looking things I've seen come out of AGS and extremely well worth a look. Oh, yes - and there's Space Quest references a-plenty in this one. Go play it now!
  16. This forum tends to have an over-abundance of disturbing immature fan-art. Wouldn't it be great if someone posted a nice clean painting or sketch every now and then? That would be wonderful.
  17. The OBJ works fine for me when I open it in Maya. I've been able to do a few things with it already. The model itself is fairly low res, but that makes it easier to customize if you want to make a higher res model out of it.
  18. Awesome! I've been watching LordKat's videos for the last year or so - I had no idea he was the same guy from the SubChan.
  19. Don't you already make something like that, Sledgy?
  20. Listening to that podcast was very surreal. It was interesting to hear from Akril, though.
  21. As a follow-up to an April Fool's joke, Infamous Adventures has just released a short fan-game in anticipation for the SQ2 Remake's release. Go here to play it!
  22. TSL Episode 3 is finished?! Bloody heck! One would think they'd notify their own team. My inbox is chock-full of Episode 3 bug reports, but nothing about the game actually being finished. I am so out of the loop. Also, if Telltale's "King's Quest" flies, it's very likely either "Space Quest" or "Leisure Suit Larry" will be next. Probably LSL, but this is a good kick-in-the-pants to get all SQ fan-games finished before Telltale starts on theirs.
  23. For a poll I started, I can't come up with a good answer. If there's one thing the Space Quest is, it's consistently challenging. I'd have to go with the lesser of all evils in this case. So... Space Quest 3 it is then. It has it's fair share of frustration, but there's an emphasis on the "fair." I honestly have no problem beating any of the arcade sequences, Arnoid's always easy, the decoder ring message takes more time than effort, and for some reason, I can always get out of the garbage freighter without a walk-through. Something about the flow of it all just seems natural. SQ5 was also pretty fair, but I'll give it to SQ3 just because it's a parser game - and most parser games can be downright cruel.
  24. Because I'm a wild and crazy guy, here's a poll that goes against everything that last poll stands for. This time, we discuss which game was the easiest for you! So which one required fewest hints? Which one made you lose the least hair? Which one was the cheapest date? Discuss here.
  25. Since SQ4 is the only game in the series that really drove me to the brink of madness before I discovered online walk-throughs, I'll go with that one based on the following five points: 1. Sierra always tells us to "pick up everything that isn't nailed down." Yet one of the first things you can do in this game is pick up an explosive shell that will kill you when you hop into the sewer. They even gave me points of picking it up! For months, I thought that sewer was booby-trapped, and I spent ages exploring the same nine screens and dodging cyborgs and droids. 2. On Estros, how the heck am I supposed to know the exact order of screens I have to visit before the bird grabs me? There's so many places to explore on this planet, and it's all red herrings designed to keep me busy until the Sequel Police arrive. 3. While the mall kept me consistently busy, it was waiting for the Sequel Police that drove me nuts. There's no clue that I have to stand in that exact spot in the arcade before they appear - especially when I don't even know they're supposed to appear. I'd rather pixel-hunt than make Roger stand in every obscure corner of the mall. 4. Skate-O-Rama. Faster machines. You know the deal. Even with a walkthrough, this can be a pain. 5. Then there's the laser puzzle. I still haven't figured out the logic on that one yet. I just enter random digits until everything lines up.
