Put me down as a maybe.

Don't to play all five games twice more when you're done as different classes. :) I finally got around to playing the "Half-Life" games. If I hadn't heard such good things about the sequel, I would've quit halfway through that Ravenholm segment. Just wave after wave of poisonous head crabs! Gaaaahh! I'm glad I made it to that last level, though. When the game is doing something other than inducing panic, it's fantastic. And this is just coming off playing the "Mass Effect" trilogy twice over with all the DLC (doing Adept and Engineer runs) and a full marathon of all the Sonic games. Next up on the block is "Jade Empire" after I take some time off from gaming.

We're just a step away from loading Roger into a slingshot and firing him at some piggies.

If you look at the Oscars, they never split up the Best Picture category to separately honor studio and indie films. It makes sense not to split up freeware and commercial when it comes to the best games, especially if they're trying to promote the AGS engine. The difference is that when the Academy votes, it's more political. Voters are trying to advance careers for the filmmakers and themselves. It's rare to see a clean sweep, but if Peter Jackson is scooping up all the awards, that probably means the voters want to butter him up for some future business deals. Likewise with "Argo" and "Life of Pi" this year - it's all about investing in the people. AGS Awards, on the other hand, is all about spamming votes. I should know - I tried to do the same thing. In fact, my friends and I worked out a very similar system for rigging a weekly karaoke contest, but I digress. This method is less like the Oscars and more like the MTV Movie Awards where the voters aren't familiar with all the nominees and Kristin Stewart can win Best Actress. Comparing Resonance to Twlight aside (I'm not bitter!), this is where the publicity from being a commercial game can have its advantage.

Just saw this go up on my Youtube! Gonna listen to it while I cook dinner. :) EDIT: Dinner's still going, but watched it! Loved it! I like how you're taking more of a TGWTG approach to your videos.

Late on the bandwagon too, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Until the awards happened, I wasn't actually aware of Resonance's following, or how detached I was from the rest of the community. It's hard not to take a clean sweep personally when one of presenters doesn't even bother looking up my real name. And then I get bitter and eat some chocolate and kick myself in the face for being a terrible self-promoter and even worse team leader who really needs a hug. This is what I get for shutting myself away for six years trying to hide from C&D letters. At least you guys enjoyed the game! It was meant for you, after all. You guys are awesome. But on the whole, I'm going to re-evaluate my approach to any future projects. That awards thing was rougher on me than the whole of SQInc's production put together. Explosions and robots alone do not spread word-of-mouth no matter what Michael Bay has taught me. Maybe I should go back to making Klik 'n Play games. On the bright side, I'm grateful I wasn't the one who had to awkwardly give an acceptance speech every few minutes. I did not envy Vince for that.

I'm game as well. Got Torin running. Put a bunch of oldies in my Sierra folder. Might play a little bit of Hoyle just to annoy somebody. If special guests show up, it's cool. If not, I still have fun when it's just the bunch of us. I'm surprised we haven't done a community LP yet. It'd be fun to watch one person play the game and have everybody else do voices and play backseat driver.

It's always an adventure when you're playing Hearts against a dog.

So I missed nothing? This morning I woke up at 7, turned on the computer to go to Google+, and then fell asleep at my desk until noon. So I'm totally down for anything where we start later in the day.
-
I'll try to make it in again. And not sit around playing Hoyle this time. :P

I'm already in the middle of my happy dance.

Those comments almost look like spam. Or somebody drunk-commenting. I'd say it's safe to delete anything that doesn't make sense. What really bugs me is that after the Hangout, all the games I was trying to install suddenly started working. So for future events, I highly recommend getting your games running before the Hangout starts.

If I'm awake, I'm in. If I'm not in, then I clearly partied too much on Friday night.

And I forgot to plug "Space Quest -1: Decision of the Elders" as well. That would make FIVE Space Quest-themed games in the running. Six if you count Cosmos Quest. Seven if "The Outer Edge of Earnon" travels back in time to 2012 and registers itself in the AGS database. Eight if "SpaceVenture" ends up in AGS somehow and does the same thing. I approve of Vohaul Cat as a nominee.
-
It's that time again! This year, both "Space Quest: Incinerations" and the "Space Quest 2" remake are eligible for nominations (SQ2+ was a 2011 release, but was entered into their database in 2012 if you're wondering). So you should head on over to the AGS website, log into their forums (necessary step), and fill out this year's nominations to help your favorite space janitor come out on top again! You can fill out more than one nomination per category, so you don't have to play favorites between games (but I will promote nominating Doomtron in the character categories). ;) For more Space Quest nomination goodness, you can also nominate Akril's "Pledge Quest" games which were developed by members of the SQ community. Both games center around saving Space Quest and even feature an evil cat named Vohaul so go give those games some love too!

:`D I've been finally watching TNG these last several months and I agree. There's so much potential for re-invention while keeping the style at the same time. While it's nice to hold onto an old franchise and put our heroes through so many new adventures, it's even nicer if someone like Jean-Luc Picard or, say, Ace Hardway gets a chance to give it a go.
-
The instrumental break in Slade's always reminds me of the Space Quest theme.

I've seen no reason to worry about Arndt. His scripts demonstrate some skill when it comes to writing multiple character arcs at once, and "Toy Story 3" pushed some considerably high "Star Wars"-level stakes (for toys anyway). As "Star Wars" is not only science-fiction, but also fantasy, action, comedy, thriller, and drama, I'd glad that they've hired a flexible writer who doesn't have any specific style. I hope they do the same thing with the director. I'd rather see a "Star Wars" film from a director who doesn't specialize in their own trademarks. Well, except Joss Whedon. Personally, I give Joss Whedon permission to make everything.
-
That could also be related to the fact that after making three Star Wars and Indy movies, they waited until their fanbase had become 20 years older (and crankier) before releasing new material. To my understanding, the "Indiana Jones" series was meant to be a "James Bond" thing where a new movie comes out every couple years. New locales, new treasures, new Indy girl, new sidekicks, etc. Instead, it got pegged as a trilogy after the sequels got stuck in development hell. The same kind of happened with Star Wars, since even back in the early eighties, people were convinced sequels were right around the corner.

I've been listening to a few of the EU novels at work, and I'd have mixed feelings about basing the future sequels on them. On one hand, they occasionally bring in an interesting character with an interesting movie-worthy situation. On the other hand, the novels also like to stick to the original trilogy's formula and copy it beat for beat in a very fan-servicey kind of way (I love how each novel somehow features a variation on the line "More powerful than the Death Star".) Still, I'm excited to see how this turns out.
-
You might be thinking of the wrong character. Morgan's not a guy. Also, she probably has one of the best character arcs in the series. Without giving anything away, she's an example of how an in-game fan can push the story forward without being an annoying "OMG can I have your autograph?" character. A fan character has the power to hold up a mirror to the hero and bring out either the best or worst in him. Also, Roger has Xandra in WSSQUID. :D

Pledge Quest II: Noodle Shop of Horrors has arrived!

Ah, to hear Rob Paulsen do a cameo voice for PledgeQuest would be EPIC. :) -

I finally got around to playing this! :D I'm truly astounded at the animation, artwork, and humor that went into this. It's nice when a sequel outdoes the original in the awesomest ways possible. And I especially the love the spoiler. Reminded me of ye olde "Pinky and the Brain" cartoons. I also really enjoyed the spoiler, the spoiler, and the spoiler as well. You're so good at making these "short, but sweet" games, Akril. Although a hunch tells me you've got something even bigger in the works. ;) -
Indeed! Updated the SQInc page as well! Thanks! :D
