My personal favorite was "Vohaul Strikes Back". When I signed onto the project, so much groundwork had been laid down and it had one of the biggest, richest cast of characters out of any Space Quest. I also really loved "Pledge Quest 2" for what it did with the cat. I think I hurt myself smiling over that one. Least favorite? Ummm... gonna side with Frede here. Which was your favorite, Steve?

I watched some of the video - this thing is brilliant! Just watching someone else clean up is addictive.

As much as I get cranky about remake hype, it would be nice if SQ3 got its VGA remake as well. Considering the QFG series can be fully played in VGA thanks to the AGDI remake, SQ3 kind of feels like unfinished business at this point. Same with KQ4 and PQ2, but time will tell. If AGDI and IA can get some quality remakes out, there's always a chance another team might rise to the challenge. It'd be harder to do with all these licenses bouncing around, but it could still be happening.

Do you think SQ would have followed continuity?
Datadog replied to SteveHNo96's topic in Starcon Academy
Roger's future was always vague and easy to interpret in many ways. You could deviate from said future to put a twist on an old story, or you could just continue the series without ever exploring that far into the future. "Futurama" explored the future of Fry and Leela's relationship in several different ways without ever technically breaking continuity. So likewise, when you're dealing with science-fiction, parallel universes, and the seventh dimension, Space Quest could have ended up anywhere. Or, in Doctor terms, people assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly... time-y wimey... stuff. -

I want to make something, but I'll need a few days before I can record. What's the cut-off date for this? -

Paul Trowe criticism on Kickstarter update
Datadog replied to Troels Pleimert's topic in Andromedan Spaceport
I hate that Replay is suffering for this. One person should not speak for a talented team of artists and programmers, yet it seems his employees are cutting ties with people just to keep their jobs (Banning? Unfriending? I though the soap opera days of the adventure game community were over.) Let's just keep supporting SpaceVenture where it stands. If one in 10,809 backers isn't making with the support, the rest can pick up the slack. -
Paul Trowe criticism on Kickstarter update
Datadog replied to Troels Pleimert's topic in Andromedan Spaceport
Everybody is spot-on here. I haven't been following this Paul Trowe situation, but his recent comment is unnecessary and spiteful. Backed by a company or not, all these Kickstarter projects are in the same boat. Teams are working off of donations, pressed to get things out in a timely manner, and morale support from the community is important. One less programmer and a missed update is no cause for alarm given how much they've already accomplished. So I think I'll just listen to Frede and Troels on this matter since they're actually inside sources. Paul's not part of the team, his speculation doesn't get the game finished faster, and it seems like his end-goal is to say "I told you so" (which is the dickest string of words in the English language). -
There we go! Works way better now! :)

Just tried it - I think the chicken moves a little too fast. Once the wings start flapping, he flies off the screen. Then again, I haven't played SQ3 in a while. Otherwise, it looks good!

There's no complications for me on the 20th, but it'd be nice to get it done soon or to just wait until after summer.

I've penciled in this Saturday. For VSB, I take it? What's your usual start time on these?

The word "rip-off" gets thrown around a lot, but it really only applies when an idea is knowingly stolen and sold under false pretenses. Space Quest didn't do that, because it was an implied comedy from the beginning. We recognized the locations and situations from Star Wars, and the game didn't try to hide that it was poking fun at the genre. Likewise, any resemblance Star Trek had to the games is likely coincidental. Hundreds of people work on those films and there's always the chance a concept artist might invent the interior of the Aluminum Mallard by mistake. On the other hand, if Kirk and the crew started out as a cleaning crew, battled the Sorians for the Solar Generator, and wound up on the desert planet of Kareno where they fought an Octopus-Droid, then you might have a case.

I occasionally hold some tournaments over on the SHP forums. In the past, we've done Best Hero, Best Villain, Best Sidekick, Best Easter Egg and now we're doing an art tournament. We're currently on Round 2 and it would be great to see some new faces voting (not to mention there's quite a few Space Quests in this week's roster!) so come on over and cast your votes! www.sierrahelp.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3588

I've no immediate plans for July, although it will be easier to pencil in a Saturday.

I'm still available for this Saturday, depending on whether the game chronology really matters. Although it would be nice if Frede was present at least. SQInc can easily be gone through in a few hours providing we don't read all the dialogue.

And the average LP of SQInc seems to go up around eight hours at a time. I can motor through it in less than an hour, but that's no fun if we aren't all doing the voices. And if you want commentary on the videos, that's a full 47 minutes right there. Perhaps more than one hangout if it goes over four hours? Or maybe just save and open a new hangout? Maybe edit them together?

I've been wanting to do something like this, but personally, I'd rather start with VSB. It'd be nice getting the whole team together for that. As for the the "when", I'll have to keep you posted for when I spot a gap in my schedule. I wouldn't mind sitting in on commentary for the actual non-fan-games as well. I'm surprised we haven't jumped on a community "Let's Play" yet.
