  1. Yeah, as of late, I've been reduced to a lurker in the community. Still watching the boards, though. *waves hi at everybody*
  2. The SQ3 freighter is pretty great example on its own. The objectives are very self-explanatory as you explore, and puzzles logically open themselves up as you wander into different parts of the ship. It's one of my favorite SQ sequences to play. I also rather like the WD-40 sequence from SQ5. While there's only way to solve the puzzle, they have it set up so she can chase you all over the place. The freedom of movement during a chase scene is pretty great on its own. I also have a soft spot for the Inner Stellar puzzles at the end of SQ6. It's educational, and they make creative use of the body's functions for puzzle-solving. I really wish more of the game had been like that.
  3. Excellent observation. I'm sold.
  4. Aha! I knew I saw that "the" somewhere before!
  5. SQ4.5 has an IMDB page, so I can't see why VSB couldn't have one.
  6. I was about to mention Akril's series as well. Ripped graphics have their place depending on skill level or context (even I toyed around with ripped graphics ages ago.) It's a benefit of plagiarism: sometimes you have to toy around with the source material to get a feel for it before you can do something more. I don't mind as long as the intention is clear that a developer is only in "practice mode" and isn't trying to pass other people's work off as their own.
  7. Ah, but they haven't pitched a story idea either. When Al Lowe did his Kickstarter, backers knew they were getting a remake of Leisure Suit Larry. When Jane Jansen did hers, she pitched three story ideas and let the backers vote on them, so we all knew the general game ideas we were funding. I think SpaceVenture will get a lot more backers and a lot more mainstream sites will jump on promoting it once the Two Guys share their brilliant game idea with the world.
  8. I've just gone over and tripled my pledge, but I imagine at this point, a lot of potential backers are waiting for something more concrete on this game. I imagine the pledges really upped on Pinkerton Road once the plot and characters of Moebius were revealed. As of where on SpaceVenture, everything about the game is very obscure, and that browser game can be very misleading for newcomers. Tim Schafer got lucky overnight on the grounds that he was the first to begin a Kickstarter project, but street cred can only fan-fund games for so long. It would be easier for word-of-mouth to spread if the gaming sites actually had a game to talk about.
  9. It's a prototype released during the 100K mark of a 500K kickstarter, and it's already more game than Double-Fine has delivered. :) Can't wait for the 200K mark so I can go get them a towel!
  10. So not only the Two Guys and Gary Owens, but GLaDOS and Yakko Warner as well? Don't mind me, just gonna throw in a pledge here. Also, that animated opening of theirs is totally epic. I felt like my game's opening credits had just gotten served.
  11. I'm partway through "Gray Matter" right now and really enjoying it so far. Although I'm glad Jane is going a full 2D route with "Moebius". It'll much better suit her graphic novel art style. I can't wait to see this project take off.
  12. Awesome! :)
  13. I'm in Vancouver right now. Just finished school. Looking for work. Again. Also singing lots of karaoke.
  14. True enough. Until now, almost everybody has had at least two different titles under their creative minds. I want to see what else the Two Guys have been hiding.
  15. You got a special thanks credit between Rob and Team VSB. Might put you higher on the list on the next release for all the promotion you've been doing for us. :) And yes, I was joking - although I do look forward to seeing an SQ3+ from somebody eventually! And now we have "SpaceVenture", "Outer Edge of Earnon", and episode 2 of "SQ-1" to look forward to.
  16. Totally played SQ2+! Played a bit of VSB, but got stuck at the blanket. Might pass on SQInc. Can't wait for SQ3+! :)
  17. OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!! *leaps through the air, latches onto Diane, and smothers her with hugs*
  18. If I were going to throw in my favorite collection of songs assembled for a game, I'd have to go with "Brutal Legend". That game introduced me to dozens upon dozens of under-rated songs from classic metal bands and something about the experience even encouraged me to go back, explore entire discographies, buy some classic CDs, and even develop actual opinions on whether "Paranoid" or "Master of Reality" was the better album. The music was a real world-opener for me. I had no idea heavy metal was so diverse until then. I also rather like Fallout's "Galaxy New Radio", but there's just not enough songs in that game! I swear I heard the same Andrew Sisters tune about five times in one hour. "Oh, bingo, bango, bongo, I don't wanna leave the Congo, da-da-da-da-da-daaaa..." When I know all the words to a song without even trying to learn them, you know there's not enough songs in the game. As far as original game soundtracks go - I've always loved both the soundtracks to "King's Quest 6" and "Chrono Trigger". Every piece of music in those games jumps out as both memorable and catchy to me. And "Psychonauts" - pure, epic gold.
  19. I simply thought that the title "SpaceVenture" was already a play on "Space Quest" - that they would be continuing Roger's adventures under a different name. Still, if they're using Kickstarter, I'm ready to throw my money at them.
  20. Nice! My work here is done! I'll go make another so you can watch "Iron Man 2".
  21. A Dalek's worst enemy!
  22. I decided to have a little bit of fun with my game by mashing it up with "The Avengers". As a result, I think Robert Downey Jr. just became the game's first voice actor.
  23. I'm playing "Darksiders" at the moment. I was under the assumption that it'd be a quick 8-hour "God of War" style romp, but now it's quickly turning into an incredibly huge Zelda-type game. I might be on it for a while. My previous game played was "Uncharted 2". The next game I play will either be "Grey Matter" or "Dragon Age 2".
