  1. Interesting that carrying the unstable ordnance doesn't have any ill effects when plunging into the water at terminal velocity on Estros.
  2. Oh jeez, I can imagine the EVA sequence in SQ5 where you have to dock against the Goliath being a huge hassle.
  3. Space Quest does occasionally tread that triangular line between originality, parody, and rip-off sometimes, as do many other sci-fi entities. ;)
  4. From experience, there are a select few computer games out there which will refuse to run properly on any OS besides the Windows 3.1.
  5. I have actually kind of tried to emulate using a CRT monitor by applying a scan-line graphics filter in DOSBox. It's not quite the same, though.
  6. I'll tell you why we don't agree - because it was never intended to be that hard. ;) If you play SQ4 on a normal computer, Skate-o-Rama is just another action/arcade sequence. On the other hand, SQ2 is unforgivably hard the whole way through.
  7. Saturday might be better, yes.
  8. Probably not, unless you're talking about a late Denmarkian Friday evening (I have a 9-to-5 job).
  9. I'm up for it, boyos.
  10. In 1996 I think almost everyone had something more powerful than a 486, since you needed the increased processing power in order to play Quake. :P
  11. Oh, and someone make sure Troels is interested.
  12. I will not be available on Saturday if we start before 11:00am EST. I will be available otherwise, though I would definitely be chuffed if we could get a special guest in there.
  13. I do believe those are 16-bit applications, and probably wouldn't even run on Windows XP. I say it's time to break out Windows Virtual PC with a Windows 95 boot.
  14. Have we lost interest in this?
  15. Sounds like a plan, Stan.
  16. We can't possibly do this without Troels. Later would be good if we did it today, though. :) But I'm leaning towards postpone if we can't get more people.
  17. It's far too late for that, Mr. Speaker; you're on the record.
  18. For the first time in possibly my entire life, I find myself agreeing with Gareth almost completely. Yes, it's true that there is probably a great deal more to the woman on the game cover than meets the eye - but you would never know that just by looking at the game cover, because that's the nature of advertising. It's a first impression, it's telling you what you're going to be in for when you start this game up. When you slap a half-naked woman on box art, you are perceived as attempting to titillate to the young male audience, whether or not that was your actual intent. It will be an incredible game, I'm sure, and I for one will probably play it. That does not change the fact that this particular element of the box art was in poor taste given everything else, especially the current state of the gaming market nowadays - as well as evolving trends in gender studies.
  19. Edit: It's really not my place to comment.
  20. It was intended to be a redux of the last hangout - Non-SQ Sierra Adventure Games - since the previous attempt ended up being a disaster due to technical and scheduling difficulties.
  21. Me, Akril, Troels, Frede - Anyone else? Maybe we should round up LK again?
  22. Let's set February 23rd as a tentative date for the next hangout. Same time, approximately. That way we have time to gauge special guests for interest. Having Roses or LordKaT participate would be great, particularly since LordKaT is a former Subchan poster.
  23. Fair enough... Hope he's interested if we have a follow-up hangout :)
  24. Edit: Never mind.
