  1. I'm not brand-oriented. I buy whatever works.
  2. That makes me laugh for obvious reasons.
  3. You could squeeze the track in between Monochrome Boys and Vohaul's Fortress, Part II, since the player would have a logical reason to go back to the streets by that point (forgot the PocketPal or the jar of acid maybe?) before trying to enter the laser tunnel. I've just never heard the track in anything other than AdLib, hence my dogged insistence. I apologize. :P
  4. Admiral Toolman plays a larger role in the text adventure game that I've been working on.
  5. As far as actual storytelling goes, my guess is that the death of Captain Quirk (and Beatrice's apparent affair with Roger) was such a huge scandal for StarCon that Admiral Toolman was called in to do damage control - and part of that involved decommissioning Roger and stationing him on some backwater vessel to make sure he wouldn't get in the way any further. There's some hint that Toolman's a bit corrupt, considering the trouble he puts the Deepship's crew through to get Roger Wilco to Delta Burksilon, with the intent of finding Sharpei a host body for Project Immortality. As for the line, I think it's as Troels said; that at the time it was more of an attack against Mark Crowe than Roger Wilco.
  6. So I take it you're not including the music tracks for riding the patrol craft back to the streets of Xenon?
  7. Many of the soundtracks tend to match the style and atmosphere of the games they were made for. Police Quest 2 has a major 70s vibe to it, for instance, while Sid & Al's Incredible Toons' soundtrack is outright psychotic. The adventure game soundtracks stand well enough on their own as, at the very least, decent soundtracks. Robert Holmes' Gabriel Knight soundtrack, however, is in my opinion the best score of any of the Sierra games.
  8. You can pledge as much money as you want without needing to select a reward.
  9. Is it just me or did this prototype backfire bigtime?
  10. Doubtless this thread is helpful for Ken Allen, but I'm finding it a great help as well. I've become weary of using the GenMidi instrument bank, and while I've had satisfactory results with the Synth1 VST, I would quite like having a few others in my repertoire. Thanks all!
  11. A voice parser would be a nice little novelty, but I certainly would not like it to be the only option, for two reasons: 1. It requires a microphone peripheral. 2. Reliability - If I have to repeat the command repeatedly in order for it to register, or say it a certain way, it defeats the purpose of having it in the first place.
  12. I'm going to do a marathon this Saturday evening after work. Maybe a mini-marathon of sorts along the lines that someone else suggested; run through the games without burning a single savegame, or perhaps having only one savegame per game. Or I could play that dark horse of the Space Quest fangames - The Lost Chapter. I heard that one was tougher than Orat hide.
  13. Oh, let me know the next time you do something like this, I'm interested too.
  14. How old is Troels anyway?
  15. Someone on this message forum has a copy. Edit: Not me, I mean. But someone did bring up something in a previous topic about the SQ4 beta having an alternate ending. The only way they could know that...
  16. If I wasn't so busy, I'd do one too on that same day and have a race against him.
  17. Ironically, the SQ5 Beta is far, far easier to find than the SQ4 Beta.
  18. I'm imagining six instances of the Skate-O-Rama theme all playing at the same time, with the intermittent "Restore, Restart, Quit" stingers.
  19. That's assuming Windows 8 doesn't turn out to be a marketing flop.
  20. Sadly, I don't think today's average web-surfin' gamer is going to give a flying flip about Space Quest. If Google Hangout has a multi video-feed system, that would be quite cool as then we could have simultaneous playthroughs of adventure games.
  21. To some extent, purchasing classic games on GOG.com may be superfluous for many of us since we already have original or working copies of the games on the website. However, I know that in my case there are some games that I have lost over the years, or simply have not played. So, I encourage all of you to post your GOG.com collections, and show the games that you have purchased since the website went online. In no particular order, here's mine: The Incredible Machine (Mega Pack) Syndicate Fallout 1 Ultima IV Myst - Masterpiece Edition RealMYST Uru: Complete Chronicles Gabriel Knight: Sins Of The Fathers Jagged Alliance: Deadly Games One Unit Whole Blood Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition
  22. Supposedly there's voice acting and digitized sound in the game, though I've never played a version that contains either of these.
  23. As opposed to "no other characters, no conflict, no puzzles, no chance of dying, and no interface"!
  24. QFG5 is a great game but very much different from the rest of the series, and the 3D view (especially during combat) takes a while to get used to. It's a far better post-Sierra game than King's Quest 8, though, and it does a relatively good job of tying up loose ends in the QFG series.
  25. It's a great game in spite of its flaws. Worth playing through at least once.
