Yes, he is working on repairing the damaged database there.

Just looked at the linked article. There have been a number of articles on this. The writer of the Gamespot article must be in his early 20s if he thinks those titles are for what Sierra is known. Most of the commenters are nearly as clueless. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/136708-Activision-Teases-the-Return-of-Sierra-Entertainment http://www.computerandvideogames.com/473467/activision-teases-the-return-of-sierra/ http://www.polygon.com/2014/8/8/5981675/activision-sierra-entertainment-gamescom http://www.kitguru.net/gaming/matthew-wilson/activision-teasing-the-return-of-sierra/ http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/08/08/gamescom-2014-activision-teases-sierra-resurrection http://gamerant.com/sierra-entertainment-return-tease-site-activision-gamescom/ http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/activision-is-planning-something-for-kings-quest-franchise-rights-reportedly-recovered-from-telltale-games/#!by6B9k

Indeed.

John Williams is Ken's brother, who was, I believe, something like the Marketing manager for Sierra. He is very much in the loop about things Sierra. He is more or less the go-to-guy for things about Sierra and its history.
-
There has been some speculation that it is part of the reason that Activision pulled the license for KQ from Telltale. As I said it has been acknowledged by John Williams, who told Sierra fans that we will like what is coming.

John Williams seems to know something about it, but can't say anything.

Shivers two Windows is a 32-bit game, but the problem is outdated APIs. For Phantasmagoria 2 Win, jafa's installer purposely requires the CDs, but my DOSBox installer concatenates the resources to eliminate the CDs, which is essential for digital distribution. Jafa has modified the interpreter enough that the mapping gets screwed if you do that with his Win version. Sometimes my DOS version of installers gives better graphics, though. The cut scenes in Lords II are much better with my DOSBox installer than his Win installer.
-
The GOG dev team was talking to me a while back about Shivers. They can't do Shivers because it is a Win only 16-bit game. The only solution for x64 users is a VM. Shivers two has too many bugs on modern systems to run properly They were trying to contact jafa for permission to use his StC installer, but he has faded from sight. He usually responds to me when I email him, but he never responded to GOG, even when I told him. As to the other titles, it is arranging for the licensing that is the problem. Activision is not the easiest company to work with when it comes to IP rights. Outside of newer titles that have API issues on modern Windows, there are few Sierra titles that I have not already solved, so technical issues aren't really the problem. GOG has access to my resources to make them work, as they have done for so many of their other Sierra releases.

Probably Slash. Slash often used left over Sierra stock and added anything missing that was needed with cheap copies.
-
Exactly. I would have probably spread this around, but that last panel blows it. It turns what could have been a good argument for a point that I have often made into a brainless misogynistic rant.

Wow, just wow. You realize that there is a pretty high chance that she is a rape victim. Women have a 20% to 25% chance of being raped. It is a danger that all women face. you should probably back off of this one.

Are those the ones on the Wiki?

I wish, however, Gold Rush was one of only a couple old Sierra properties not held by Activision. We know what happened with LSL. Not sure if Evryware has the Manhunters or not.
-
Many of you may know that I have been working with Sunlight Games to bring the original Gold Rush! to modern PCs. This work is now done and the game will be released shortly. It will be available as a digital download from Sunlight's store and Steam. There will also be a boxed copy that will be shipped worldwide.

TNG did add to the ST future history, but that is different than some kind of over arching story. And except for the two parters, no cliffhangers. Over reliance on cliffhangers make many walk away, especially if there is too much wait between episodes. It is why I eventually gave up on Bab5. -

Hence why developers can be reluctant to release too much their early work to the public. -
The best software has always come from the companies that have pay attention to user input, both negative and positive.

They had permission for one year. That year is now over. -
No, I don't think ST always has to be deep. The Trouble with Tribbles is certainly not that thought provoking, but was was still driven by the narrative and very entertaining. Not all stories have to be dramatic or serious, but still the narrative is part of what made Trek so enduring. As to Abrams, I don't dismiss him because he is a newbie, but he is still a clueless git when it comes to understanding what made it work. Let him go ruin some other franchise. Let's see how he makes Star Wars "more exciting."

One of the things that they wanted to do with The Motion Picture was to do something completely new from what they had done in the series. However, the idea of encountering an old probe that had been transformed into something more than what it was already done in The Changeling. I don't ask for Roddenberry to be the final arbiter of all things Trek, but I think it is important to stay close to his original intent of Star Trek. There is a reason that the franchise has lasted for nearly a half century. It has been based on stories and ideas that assume that the viewer is not your average moron. It often explored ideas about the human condition that were impossible to explorer in more conventional means. While Science Fiction, the technology was derived from extrapolating from what we know rather than just pure fancy, which is often a failing of your average "Sci Fi". While action sequences were no stranger to Star Trek, they were not all that common and not used gratuitously. If all you want from a "Sci Fi" show or movie is a bunch of brainless action, there are plenty of other ones out there. Adding it to Trek destroys what has made it so enduring. This is why Abrams fails so miserably with his "reboot". Either he is an idiot or doesn't give a flying f*ck. He has turned it into empty mind candy for idiots that get bored if they have to be bothered with an idea or they don't get to see a chase scene, explosion or a fight every five minutes.
