  1. With the Viewer you deal with the individual AUD resources. You can either extract the selected raw resources in its native AUD format or save it as a standard PCM WAV file. And it has no trouble with compressed resources. Just make sure that you get the version with the command line tools with no version number. Version 1 does not let you export to standard formats nor can it open AGI games.
  2. Much easier these days to simply use the Resource Viewer.
  3. It is extremely common to find resources from other games in the SCI games. No mystery about it. Sierra probably used existing contemporary games as a sort of template for new games after stripping out or replacing most of the game's resources. You also can commonly find concept or development resources left overs. It would have been a fairly easy thing to have a tool that could have checked the scripts against the resource map for unused resources to strip out of the game's archive. Akril has a number of examples of unused resources on her site. Edit, MI, I have seen that PIC in the game's resources.
  4. That makes no sense. Mark and Scott are THE Two Guys From Andromeda.
  5. Sierra's worst copy protection was CPC. It requires low level access to the floppy drive, so it fails on modern systems. At least Sierra cracked those AGI games on their collections.
  6. KQ6? I actually found the Logic cliffs rather fun, even if you did need the manual for the ancients' alphabet. But, yeah most CP does suck.
  7. I think most here would. It seems rather crass to ask for money from the developers giving the community a free game.
  8. There were several IA projects in development before any possible SQ3VGA. The two that had been announced were KQ3VGA Gold and a new KQ game based on the novel Kingdom of Sorrow. All of the IA freeware games were abandoned when IQ was formed. I don't think that there was anything about the projects themselves, simply that it was time to move on to getting paid for doing what they loved.
  9. I just noticed, Josh's Facebook page has been deactivated.
  10. Perhaps message Al or Josh on Facebook about the Replay forums?
  11. Make sure that you use a plain ASCII editor to avoid adding the formatting information that a rich text editor will.
  12. There is also the principal of fair use.
  13.
  14. You realize that there is no need for Win3x to run KQ7. That aside, you are right. Win3x runs so well in DOSBox that it is mostly the Win9x era games that hate the NT kernel that are problematic.
  15. You do not say which version of the game you have nor exactly which bug has stopped you. If it is one of the speed bugs, you are probably referring to the NewRisingSun patch. If you have not applied it or you did not apply it properly, it will be recommended that you start from the beginning after correctly applying the patch. Also, the speed bugs can be addressed by the use of DOSBox. My new installer will apply all relevant patches and automatically set the game up in DOSBox. You will be able to start the game from a regular Windows shortcut. http://sierrahelp.com/Patches-Updates/NewSierraInstallers.html#SQ
  16. How about one of the DOSBox ports?
  17. Except that it links to the same download service as the AGS link.
  18. It kept coming back, so I had to manually delete it.However, it had also disabled the extension manager. Given enough time, I would have been able to track it down, but since I had a profile backup that was only a couple of months old, I just did a restore to save myself the trouble.
  19. There were a host of issues with that release. I have a patch that fixes them http://sierrahelp.com/Patches-Updates/NewCollectionDOSBoxUpdaters.html
  20. Warning!! The link on that page takes you to a "download service" That not only makes you wait to jump through hoops to get to the "download", what you get is not the game, but a downloader disguised as a RAR that installs a browser toolbar and hijacks the home page. I killed the app before it completed what it was doing, but I am doing a full scan right now to see if I missed anything.
  21. Shouldn't amateur and commercial games have different award events or at least be two completely different categories?
  22. I am not familiar with them. If they are they DOS games you could use DOSBox. 16-bit Win games can be run in Win3x installed in DOSBox.
  23. So SNL, Monty Python or any number of non animated comedy shows or movies are not that funny? Simply adding an exaggerated cartoon art style does not automatically make something more funny. If it fits the style of the theme then fine, but many things are far funnier when they are more relatable than what is possible with cartoon graphics.
  24. Same on this side.
