Guys from Andromeda attending Tennessee convention in October
That is not a bad idea, that. If they would be up for it, of course. I can imagine it would be hard to get any sort of free time at a convention, let alone any you'd want to spend huddled in front of a webcam. Well, let's get it out in the open, then. Any suggestions for a time for a G+ convention hangout?

Space Quest at its best?
Sadly, I am hard pressed to come up with a better example of "true" Space Questery than Jess' garbage freighter. I agree, that section really EMBODIES Space Quest. I do want to highlight the Galaxy Galleria in SQ4. Everyone twitches nervously when they hear it, because of the Skate-o-Rama. But actually that whole sequence is perfectly symptomatic of SQ. Even though he's in a crowded mall, Roger is still completely and utterly alone, the threat of mortal danger constantly over his head, and he's wearing a fucking dress to boot. Also, it bears repeating that the ending of SQ2 - even if it's just one puzzle in the escape pod - is downright poetic.

Space Quest at its best?
It still exists, and Chris Geroux, the creator, is still alive and kickin' it. He also still has copies of his old Klik-n-Play games, including Eureka Trash Pickup. He's on Twitter: @dopefishlives

Introduce Yourself!
Don't worry, I'm not going to do this every time someone introduces themselves, but: Wow. Vonster! Good to see you again, sir! Man, this SpaceVenture deal is really bringing out all the old rats from the walls, isn't it? :)

Replay Games drop Adventure Mob For Fusion Interactive
Interestingly, I thought that was one of the strengths of LSL6: that it would forego the sometimes belabored plots of, say, LSL5, and just give us a giant environment to walk around and pick up chicks in. It was a return to form, much like LSL1, which also was pretty free-roaming. I will admit to loving LSL2, though. In spite of its punishing nature. Yes, it's one of those games you will curse for ages because it forces you to reload save games all the time, wondering what little nugget you missed picking up. But once you're off on that boat, crossing your fingers that Larry won't get sick, burn to death or whatever else happens to him, and you finally get to the island ... man, what an accomplishment that was! Okay, now I'm seriously derailing this thread. My apologies.

I'm not here to fuel any speculation, but it strikes me as oddly calculated that Josh would take the time to significantly downplay Trowe's involvement in the development of LSL1+. I have every confidence that Josh is speaking truth, but it seems as if even Replay knows their main figurehead's rambunctious "honesty" in the media is causing severe backlash for the company. I don't think backers of LSL1+ should regret anything -- I applaud Trowe, Replay, Josh and Al for bringing back what we all know and love. The fact that they got this show on the road in the first place is commendable. That said, I wonder what Adventure Mob's side of the story is.

Yes, the Michael Schwartz diction looks a little familiar - although calling AM "rag heads" is perhaps a tad too strong for it to be who we're thinking. The Randolph reply to Al's post is a bit suspicious as well. It does pass as legitimate concern, though.

Introduce Yourself!
Good idea. I'm Troels. I'm unemployed and I live with my parents. No, sorry, that's George Costanza. I'm 31 years old, going on 32, living with my wife in Roskilde, Denmark. In a past life, I wrote The Space Quest FAQ, the Sarien Encounter novel, and contributed several articles (of dubious quality), short stories (even more dubious) and interviews (these were alright, I guess) to the Virtual Broomcloset. I used to have a fan site, back in the old days, called Wilco's domain, but I have since traded it in for a Google+ page (http://gplus.to/rogerwilco). When The Two Guys reformed earlier this year, they asked me to organize a collective of Superfans to help promote their new SpaceVenure. This organization, dubbed The Keronian Underground, has since produced such fan gems as Pledge Quest, The Death Calendar and two special Hangout events with special guests. I do a series of really stupid videos as The Space Quest Historian on YouTube. PCJ may contest the use of present tense there. I somehow got roped into being a reward for the pledge tiers in the SpaceVenture Kickstarter.

Hardest Space Quest
I have to agree; the Stellar relationship threw me when I first played SQ6, too. In a sort of "er, I don't remember her from the previous games ... was I not paying attention?" kind of way. That said, one could argue that the SQ5 supporting cast didn't really fill any significant roles except to act as foils or deux ex machinas for Roger. Sure, Flo was married and Droole hates his bosses, but these character traits never really come into play, plot-wise. Of course, we have no idea why Roger wants to risk his life for Stellar, either, but at least the characters interact in a meaningful way. Then there's the whole argument about whether us Space Quest fans, sad husks of sarcasm that we are, really want that in a game. Jury's out on that one.

Upcoming Movies Thread
I used to tape the cartoon series as a kid. Still have the battered old VHS's somewhere. The cartoon, I thought, was hilarious. I mean, a whole episode about finding an egg beater? The fur-bearing trout and his industrial belt sander ("it's got three speeds!")? Evil the Cat summoning the world's worst demon through a sno globe? It was great! Then I read the man's blog, years and years later. Ugh. Oh well, this isn't a Doug TenNapel thread. Pardon my intrusion. Carry on. (No, I'm not looking forward to any movie right now, so I have nothing to bring to this. ;) )

Upcoming Movies Thread
I was a massive Earthworm Jim fan when I was a kid, and it saddened me greatly to learn that TenNapel was, in fact, a gun-totin', Bible-thumpin', batshit insane fundie. Kinda makes me wary of the whole "atheist with an alien" character. I hope this isn't his Battlefield Earth.

Josh would (probably) defend SQ6 saying he tried to inject some actual plot and characters into the SQ world. And he'd be right. I think SQ6 takes some undeserved bops on the head for continuing a tradition that, really, was started with SQ5. Yeah, that's true. But you gotta admit, that's one well-buried hint. ;)
