  1. This is also something to keep in mind; nobody will ever remake an entire game (or create an entire fan-game) that was created by Paul Trowe. No one, out of pure love and admiration, will dedicate so much time and effort into such a thing. Something for which no compensation was required; just the sheer joy of doing it and sharing it with others. He'll never have that. He can flap his mouth now, and boast about any successes, financial gook, whatever - but he'll never, ever, ever have that admiration and love. Ever. You can't buy that, you can't swindle that, and you can't fake your way to that. He can claim to want to be "Sierra 2.0" but it'll never happen; he doesn't have the charisma to pull it off. Sure, Sierra was a business, we all know that. And inherent in that are lots of things that can be at conflict with the passions of the heart - but when that fades, and we're here - 20+ years later, still loving these games that made their financial "nut" a long time ago, and yet the love, dedication and devotion remains. We'll still remember and love Scott Murphy and Mark Crowe long after we've all forgotten the name Paul Trowe. In the end, that will be his legacy. Nothing. There will be no legacy. That is kind of sad, if you can think about it from an outside perspective. But we all chose our own paths and we reap what we sow. You can shuffle off this mortal coil so easily - you have to ask yourself "What is it, really, that you want to leave behind? What kind of impression can I make on my fellow man?" I often asked myself this when I was on dialysis, as it seemed like I could be gone any second, and though I've not always been perfect - I have tried my best not to cast a shadow of darkness (Hah!). I don't care what Paul Trowe has done with Leisure Suit Larry; it's honestly irrelevant to SpaceVenture. I don't know if it was really a "success", I don't know how it did financially. If people enjoyed the production of it, and got the joy of making a game, at least it could be a success on that level. However, I don't know if it was a great process making it. Whatever the case, I know there were lots of decent people who did work on that game - and worked hard. But, again, their "sucess" or lack of it has nothing to do with SpaceVenture. SpaceVenture is its own project - and it has it's own needs, its own timeline and its own challenges. Maybe Paul is jealous that they didn't join "Sierra 2.0" but now it's obvious that he was never the right person for that job. So, my friends and colleagues, I don't damn Paul Trowe or Replay Games; the noose of his hanging was fashioned by his own hands, and I don't want to take any joy in someone's bad/self-destructive behavior. I do, however, celebrate The Two Guys From Andromeda (And one Space Pope!) who have become friends and brothers-in-arms over the past few years, and continue my support of them, and I know they'll make a great game, full of adventure, fun, laughs and maybe even a gruesome death or two!! Bt
  2. Haha, I know, I know. It's all hugs, kisses and death metal. Bt
  3. I got everyone's back here. Troels can vouch - I weep like a girl when I get nostalgic about my Adventure Games, and when my friends are down. Aside from one persons pointless attacks, everyone here has been very, vert cool and amazingly supportive to each other - both fans and developers. That to me is what is important here. I see all kinds of people posting in here, and I know almost everyone - personally. We're in good company, and the Two Guys are in good company. I personally know how difficult development can be, and getting of the ground as a functioning entity is. But we have support - we are in this together. So, much love to The Two Guys and The Space Pope, and much love to all the supportive peeps who not only give their love, time, and support to projects like SpaceVenture, but to all kinds of Adventure Game projects all over the place. I am proud to be a part of the community, and I'm also the fortunate recipient of a lot of support myself. I never take that for granted. Some people just don't know what they have. Bt
  4. This is so true. YOU JUST GET ME, TROELS! Bt
  5. I'm not looking for Space Quest in SpaceVenture. I'm looking for SpaceVenture to be it's own thing. Style wise, it has to be different. Besides, Roger - 100% serious? Come on. We're introduced to the dude via his nap in a closet during an alien raid on his ship! Heh. Bt
  6. Gotta say - I'm definitely more psyched to play an Ace Hardway game right now. I'm just more interested in something new at the moment.... a SQ7 in the future would be cool, though, if Scott and Mark are able to do it. Bt
  7. You know, it's really funny - to the average person it looks like a slump, but as a fellow game designer and creator, I just know how much work is going on right now. This lull will be temporary - the next few months will probably progress like this, and the die-hards will be all in, as normal - but after that, BAM, a lot of excitement is going to come.... heh. I've got nothing but time, and I can't wait for that time. I know it will come. You know, us adventure fans had a crazy exciting summer. I mean, look at all that happened in the scene - so many great projects dominated Kickstarter! It was amazing - I personally connected with a whole bunch of new friends and fans, and I rekindled some old relationships. Honestly, as far as my adventure game love goes - the summer of 2012 was The New Summer Of Love! Bt
  8. I think after such a fervor, this kind of repose is natural. I know I skim the forums at least weekly, but I've been so busy with our project. There's always the loyal few that stick around, and then there's others that drift in and out. The waiting for the actual game is the worst - and the early stages of production are pretty boring, actually, to those who aren't involved. I know there's lots of us that are fascinated by all aspects of the creation, design and implementation of the game, but the vast majority of people just want to play something. Bt
  9. YES. You should! Bt
  10. Whoomp, there it is! Bt
  11. 474,616 as of this post. Just over $25k - 26 hours to go. Exciting times! Holy cow, what an amazing month this has been.... Bt
  12. Right on. I'm very excited about this. I think the Gary Owens interview just might push it over the top! Bt
  13. You know this is all totally loving homage to Lori and Corey. Hero's Quest (Quest For Glory) is such a cherished memory for me.... I still play that game multiple times a year. Bt
  14. Hey There Guys, I know I've been following the Two Guys Kickstarter for Space Venture with an active eye. Someting tells me that you guys around here haven't heard about it yet - www.tgakick.com if you haven't seen it! Heh - just kidding! But seriously - it's the big push now. The final days. I'm very excited about it, and things seem to keep climbing. This game getting funded is so important to me. I know it's important to all of us. I figured a thread where we could watch, talk about and support the final push was in order. I'm so impressed with how hard everyone here has worked to support this. I've seen all your names all over the Kickstarter, Twitter, here, there everywhere..... I love being a part of this community. I'm glad that people like you care about adventure games, and that you care about Space Quest. I know there's been some lumps in this campaign, and some extremely shifty things have gone down. Let's save the savagry about that for later. Scott and Mark.... they're like old friends. To some of you, they ARE old friends! And I want to see my friends rise again to do what they do best. Mark, Scott and Chris Pope are working so hard on all of this. We're going to do this. And someday, in the future, I wanna have a Google hangout where we're all playing Space Venture together. Because it's gonna happen. Bt
  15. Yeah, Spikey - if we meet our goal early, and we start over funding, we can afford some more tiers, like Physical Copies and Boxes.... other suggestions are welcome! Thanks for the compliments - check out the demo, you can actually play the whole first part of the game. There's three seperate paths to go down, multiple puzzle solutions and stuff.... Bt
  16. LOVE THE GAME GUYS. I even used caps lock. Bravo, though. Wicked cool - and awesome for the Two Guys. Bt
  17. Thanks, guys! I know this project isn't everyone's bag - some peeps just don't like the fantasy games, but I do appreciate the support! We've got 30 days, so if you come into some funds by the end - $10 bucks will get you the full game, so hey - why not? Heh... any questions, feel free to ask. Bt
  18. Indieagogo is another crowdfunding platform in which you collect ALL money donated, regardless if the goal is met. If the goal is met, however, indieagogo's cut is reduced. IF, god forbid, it doesn't make it - running it on Indieagogo is a good idea. Bt
  19. Designing by comittee sucks. Someone just has to do it. Bt
  20. The whole browser debacle just reminds me how fickle, dumb and reactionary people are. Still, we're relying on fickle, dumb and reactionary people to fund this sucker. I do hope the next demo is much more exciting. Though I enjoyed the last demo, it comes from being a developer myself. I can see the potential in projects, and I can feel the excitement and possibility of an early test. Most people can't, though. Bt
  21. Chariots of Fire and..... PUNCH TO THE FACE. Heh heh. Bt
  22. Save early, save often. I still believe in this creed. Bt
  23. Eh, people just love to be negative on the internet in some places. I think the Two Guys are going to do just fine without a few negative detractors from the 'Adventure Gamers' website. Bt
  24. True, but honestly - this was little more than an interactive concept sketch. Neat, but hardly indictative of ANY kind of game at all. I mean, we all expect some kind of adventure game - so having a background to move on, and things to interact with are a given. There was no real surprise in there. The best thing about the demo was the audio portions with Scott and Mark talking about where they want to go, and possibly getting the SQ IP. As a real "demo".... it was more promo than demo. Bt
