  1. I shared this around the Two Guys' Tumblr and Google+ page today.
  2. At least something good came from the whole Replay debacle: I got to know Jeroen, Tom, Serena and other magnificently magical people who deserved so much better. Jeroen's a truly cool guy who loves adventure games and has fantastic facial hair. Tom is a true friend who barely sleeps but stays up making cool shit all night instead. Serena is, well ... need I say more? And, for better or worse, it totally brought the community even closer together. So there's that. ;)
  3. Yeah, Roger buffed up a LOT in that cryostasis tube! :D
  4. I will definitely second (third? fourth?) the Klorox II mood in SQ5. The music had a lot to do with it, but also the desolation and the foreboding realization that something awful happened here. And then that guy's head just silently retreats in the corner, just as you enter the greenhouse. Wow.
  5. Caldric: Hey, good point! I'll bring that up on the next show. Suejak: Heh, yeah, they do take up a lot of room. The idea was borne out of me doing "nerd talk" about old music devices after Seibert/Mulvale's SQ3 commentary. Ken just came out of nowhere and said he had an opportunity to interview Klepacki, and I thought it was kind of a scoop. I agree it's not completely, totally SQ related. But it is tech related. :)
  6. Absolutely. SQ6 has a good game hiding in it somewhere, though.
  7. I thought the Droid-o-Death also showed up randomly in the disk version as well. Zombie guy summons him in both version. Also, suejak ... Holy shit! That's ... brilliant. As Datadog said, that adds so much more creepiness to the zombie scream. Although I think, as Fred said, it's just a random Xenonian guy.
  8. I have this version of the Collection and I can tell you that the SQ4 on this CD is exactly the same as the one that came out stand-alone.
  9. Someone needs to bring up The Case of Charles Dexter Ward. Based on H.P. Lovecraft's story and created by Agustín Cordes (the dude behind Scratches and the short game Serena, which Frederik, Simo Sakari Aaltonen and yours truly helped write). Our pal Simo is on board helping with the writing, and Jenny Pattinson (Quest For Infamy) is doing some art. Agustín is perhaps the person in this world best suited to do a truthful adaptation of Lovecraft's work (hey, the dude named his adventure game engine "Dagon"!), and he's also incredibly sexy. Kickstarter is here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/agustincordes/h-p-lovecrafts-the-case-of-charles-dexter-ward And sexiness is here: https://twitter.com/AgustinCordes/status/519869173724635137
  10. I really should get around to applying that patch and actually playing through that damn thing. ;)
  11. "While we await a fully formed thought from Roger" ... I love this line. :)
  12. For the upcoming episode in a week, we're opening the can of worms "Beatrice vs. Stellar". Who was your favorite 'love interest' for Roger in the series, and why? What did you think of Bea's strong-willed albeit throroughly inactive portrayal in SQ5? Where do you think Stellar fits into the timeline? You are, of course, free to also talk about the fan game portrayals here - and I am of course thinking of the love triangle drama in Space Quest: Incinerations. :) If you preface your comment with "For the show:" I will read it out on the show.
  13. Except one of the defining traits of Space Quest is the sense of isolation. Roger's almost always on his own. Even when there's people around him, they either actively dislike him or just plain ignore him. Roger's a lone wolf. Not really conducive to multiplayer, methinks.
  14. Except TLC takes place between SQ2 and SQ3, and Roger's hair didn't change to blonde until SQ4 ...!
  15. I, uh ... haven't. :P
  16. I will second the sentiment of immersion of SQ6. Once I hit the Innard Space bit, I was glued to the screen. Maybe it was the moody music (which I'll confess I actually liked!); maybe it was all the gooeyness around me; maybe it was just the omnipresent sense of dread and isolation. I really loved this part of the game. Too bad it took for-fucking-ever to get to that part.
  17. I was 6 years old when SQ1EGA was released and didn't play all the SQ games until the 1994 Collection release. Nostalgic bias be damned. ;)
  18. You know damn well it doesn't. ;)
  19. I'm sorry to those of you who couldn't get in, and those of you who wanted to watch but didn't know where it was happening. I neglected to tweet out the YouTube link. Here was the Hangout: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vi6CsxIUzO0 Let's do another one soon. Josh Mandel sent a message saying he would've dropped in if he had known. :)
  20. It's about 5 minutes away, actually. :)
  21. Maybe Black Hole Bertha was really a wormhole. Meaning that the destinations on either side remain the same. Of course, that doesn't jive with the alternate dimension thing.
  22. Holy shit, dude! :) That's awesome!
  23. A rat stole my wire and I keep getting mashed in the conveyer gears. This game sucks! Help!
  24. I doubt it was an edit consciously done in the name of "good taste." I mean, why leave Singent's "what the phu--" line in, but not the fish? :) More likely it was an oversight brought on by bad project management.
