  1. I finally decided to start at the $25 while I play through the previous games. Most likely I'll up it a bit before the project ends.
  2. I've just about finished BS1 for the first time and have enjoyed it. I won't pledge right away and play a little through the second game first before deciding.
  3. While I loved the Star Trek spoof of SQ5, it just didn't gel very well with the rest of the series. StarCon seemed out of place, especially with Roger as a captain...even if it WAS a garbage scow. SQ6 kinda brought it back to the series' roots, but I feel that the series really ended after SQ4.
  4. I've been spending my spare time playing through my backlog of adventure games. I just finished Emeral City Confidential and, despite being a rather easy game, I enjoyed it. I loved the noirish feel to the characters and story. Puts an interesting spin on the land of Oz.
  5. To use a Larry phrase, I've already blown my load. I can't give any more than I already have.
  6. Give 'em hell...Roger Wilco style.
  7. Hey, not bad. I kinda like it.
  8. I think that the garbage freighter in SQ3 was certainly a defining moment, as was the Arcada in SQ1. However, if there's one segment that sums up how much of a "loser" (in a good way) Roger is would have to be at the end of SQ3 when not even Ken Williams would take him on as a janitor. I felt it symbolized that, while he got lucky several times and saved Xenon on multiple occassions, he's still a janitor.
  9. I couldn't agree more. LSL1, LSL3, and LSL6 (I haven't played LSL7, so I can't comment on that one) all had that "free-roaming" experience that made them so much fun to play. I absolutely hated LSL5 due to its convoluted plot and LSL2 (while I still consider a favorite) was way too punishing of a game to fully enjoy to the extent of the other three.
  10. LSL2 and LSL3 were my favorites, too. I particularly enjoyed the third game. As both Roy (and Al) stated, number two needs a major overhaul. Still, I enjoyed it.
  11. They've stated that the plan is to remake all of the Larry games (1-7) and then start coming out with new projects. That is, assuming LSL1:Reloaded is a success, of course.
  12. I THOUGHT the name sounded familiar. I loved The Lost Chapter.
  13. From my understanding based on Josh's explanation, AM was taking too long to develop some assets or somesuch. At least that's what I got from the thread over at Replay's forums.
  14. While it sucks that they dropped AA, it is kinda understandable, especially with Josh Mandel's explanation for doing so. Personally, as long as they do the franchise justice, I don't really mind. I pledged for a game writted by Josh and Al, not one being developed by any specific company.
  15. Serena here. You might remember me from the SpaceVenture Kickstarter. I've been an adventure game addict ever since the early days of Zork and its IF brethren on my Atari ST.
  16. Steam just announced its Greenlight service, scheduled to launch at the end of August. As it currently stands, all games that have been submitted to Steam goes through an internal process of review. With Greenlight, users can have a say in what gets published on their digital distribution platform. I think that it would be a great way to get SpaceVenture some attention by having the Two Guys submit this project for review. I know that I'd do my best to get it upvoted. http://steamcommunity.com/greenlight/
  17. I wrote up an article on the Kickstarter phenomenon as it relates to adventure gaming a little over a week ago and have included links to every one that I backed. I haven't gotten around to adding the new one that just started, but I plan on doing so soon. If you want to take a look, you can find it here: http://www.gameinformer.com/blogs/members/b/btenille_blog/archive/2012/06/18/kickstarting-adventure-gaming.aspx
  18. I'm with Decaffeinated Jedi. I've been spending a lot of my free time replaying old adventure games, particularly the old Sierra games. With all of these awesome KS campaigns going on I've been waxing nostalgic lately. I'm also still watching Quest for Infamy, HeXit, Lilly Looking Through, Reincarnation, and Sam Suede...all of which I've backed and if you haven't already I highly recommend that you check them out.
  19. Kickstarter allows a one-time survey where they can ask for things like shirt sizes and shipping address. I would assume that they would send e-mails to those who paid via PayPal, too.
  20. Didn't somebody once say something about there only being about seven original ideas and that everything else is some variation of one or more of them?
  21. I personally still think that the female playable character should be lower on the list. $650K is too high of a stretch goal for that one, IMHO. I really want to see that one happening. If all we get is Ace, Cluck, and Rooter, though, I would have absolutely no problem with it because it's still going to be a game from the freaking TWO GUYS FROM ANDROMEDA!
  22. I personally have no problem with people using ripped game assets...as long as the game itself is good. A good story and characters always trump things like graphics in my opinion. Maybe it's because I started out with Zork and the other IF games.
  23. Awesome article. Great read and just what I was looking for. Thanks.
  24. Until recently, I've only known about two Space Quest fan games: Space Quest 0 (prequel) and The Lost Chapter (set between SQ2 and SQ3). Coming here from the SV Kickstarter campaign, I also found out about the SQ2 remake, Vohaul Strikes Back, and Incinerations (or whatever it's called). I'd like to know if there are any others out there, links to download them, and where they fit in the Space Quest universe chronologically. I like to play each series in order and I tend to shove fan-made games into my playthroughs in the order of events. And I am looking to do a Space Quest marathon soon, which includes these hidden gems.
  25. Awesome. Thanks. I'll check it out later when I get the chance.
