Well you could always argue. that Pirates of the Caribbean = Monkey Island (and Pirates is actually based on an original MI movie script). And like Al Lowe has said, Deuce Bigalow is Larry all in but name. Oh, and then there's that Maniac Mansion TV-series.

You know what would be nice? Gabriel Knight movie.

Man, I'd watch "Murder She Wrote" set in the 1920's. Some one needs to pitch this to a studio, ASAP.

Cheese, whine and wine do sound like a nice idea.

Al Lowe retires (again), probably due to issues with Paul Trowe

I think there's a lot of bitterness there from his part. When he was talking about that Sierra 2.0 thing ages ago he propably was deadly serious about it. And then, thanks to his personality, the rug was kinda yanked under him (despite there wasn't one in first place). Before the crap hit the fan he most likely was indulging in dreams of really churning out "real" sequals to King's Quest, Space Quest and all the other Sierra classics. There's a reason he outed Telltale about King's Quest before they had a change to do it themselves. That propably just did more harm than good to him as well. -
It definetly is far more limited than Gabriel Knight 2 for an example. But god damn... I think I need to re-install it and enjoy some cheese this weekend.

Phantasmagoria is a bad game, no doubt about that, but it is relatively entertaining b-horror movie. And it even has some decent gore effects in it.

So, apparently this is happening. A low budget horror movie adaptation of Phantasmagoria. I'm all for that. http://www.horrorsociety.com/2013/07/26/black-castle-productions-first-feature-phantasmagoria-the-movie/ https://www.facebook.com/PhantasmagoriaBCP

If it's again the one who shall not be named there's no face palm big enough to handle this situation. -
Broken Age managed to succeed my expectations, the quality of the game is nothing short of astonishing and as it is, the gameplay reminded me a lot of Lucasfilm adventures, espcially those with simplified UI's. Personally I felt like the UI and gameplay were direct evolution from those simpler UI's which Lucasfilm abandoned in order to favour the clunkier UI's in Grim Fandango and MI4. Aestehtically the game is stunning. The graphics are stylish and vibrant and even the smallest side characters have quite a bit of personality. The voice acting is among the best I've heard in any game and if none of these areas aren't rewarded in at least in some game industry awards it'll be a travesty. While the first act is about 3-4 hours long, I expect the final to be around 8, it could be even longer if Schafer really keeps his word and amps up the difficulty for the final chapter. But even how the game is now, it is among the best games Schafer has done. It's well written, witty and it flows in the way that would make games 10 times more expensive jelaous. If the second act surpasses what was shown here, Broken Age might just become Schafers best game.

The review embargo was actuallya lifted, so it's free game so to say. But that won't hurt the game, as it is pretty damned good. -

Yeah, there was some big slowdowns on 2.0 everytime an achievement notification jumped up despite I hadn't even connected the game on my Facebook. It definetly felt like the testing done with it wasn't enough. -
In some cases companies might not even know all the rights they own, especially with older assets acquired through mergers and sales. Companies also like to own IP's and rights "just in case", because you never know what is going to make you money, be it some one offering ridiculous amount to get the rights or if some specific genre shows new potential. At this moment there's people at Activision looking very closely what is happening with the adventure revivals from Kickstarter. If they end up doing money Activision will most likely put more assets in active development besides Gabriel Knight. One good example is Ubisoft, which started to develope new Might and Magic RPG because of the success of old school RPG revival. Though in their case M&M series has been on the surface because of Heroes of Might and Magic series, but they aren't RPG's.

I hope those HD pics are just place holder stuff for the remade version.

Two biggest changes 2.0 brings are the point system and social media integration. Points are a nice addition, I don't know how the social media part works, as I never tried it. -

I wouldn't put it past Trowe to try his luck with LSL:R2 Kickstarter, but I do think announcing the casino game is more than likely. -

What saddens me the most here is, that there was a real promise in LSL:R, warts and all. Despite it's not a perfect game and at points it feels like a long Kickstarter joke, it still is IMO the best version of Larry 1 out there. Had Al and Josh been able to continue towards LSL:R2 I'm certain there would have been great things to come. In a perfect world Trowe could have been just the thing that was needed to get Larry as a series back to those who know and love it. But now, after all is said and done, I can only shake my head. -
There's aspects I liked about the VGA remake. The way to cheat in the slotmachine with a magnet was one of them, as I've always found the money grinding bits in the old Sierra games to be a waste ot time. But I can see why Scott is sore with the game, especially if it was made behind their backs.
-
SQ1 VGA is a bit too pulp. It really doesn't fit in well with the rest of the series. I take it it's a sore spot for Scott then? Was it made without the supervision of the guys?

This should illuminate thigs: http://www.spacequest.net/index.php/topic/656-paul-trowe-criticism-on-kickstarter-update/ https://www.facebook.com/corey.cole.792/posts/10151962049812899 But basically CEO of Replay Games has been acting like an ass.

Out of the games I've backed only one has been released thus far: Larry Reloaded. Two other projects that have delivered for me are both book related Lest Our Passages Be Forgotten and Other Stories a short story colletion by author Bradley Beaulieu Singularity & Co.which is a valiant attempt at digitizing old sci-fi books and getting them in e-book sales. Once a month they provide an old and forgotten sci-fi novel to the members. I haven't even gotten around read them all yet. And I guess Wasteland 2, not the actual W2 game though, but a pimped up version of the original Wasteland 1 was just released to backers. And that's mighty sweet of them, especially because they've made a mood soundtrack to it and implemented the original paragrpah book to the game itself. Broken Sword 5 just recently released its firts half (and it's good). -

It'll be interesting to see what kind of sin and depravity you can cook up.
