  1. Yep, Chris Pope has been the classiest of classy in Sierra Kickstarters so far, I couldn't be 1/3rd the diplomat he is! Onto the video: Music was the highlight for me (duh ;) ), but I really liked the animation too. Kinda reminded me of an updated SQ6-look. Very promising, will be interested in seeing a town or colony and seeing what SV's "street life" (one of my favourite things from SQ6) is like. I'm hoping for a more populated world and less empty, ala SQ1-3. The update- Chris nails it, every time. Great job. I think he was honest about both shortcomings and positives, and you really know where you stand with the guy. And can't help but feel loved and optimistic as a fan after reading his words. :) Kudos team SV and we await future developments with bated breath! BTW- do we know yet if this game will have Sierra-style icons, like look, talk, etc?
  2. I view this as simply a pebble over the river in terms of Jane/Robert getting back into the groove of GK and making GK4. It will be awesome to see GK:HD, but I honestly doubt with the graphical style and digitized music that I'll enjoy it on par with the original. But I guess I'm a hard guy to please ;) Anyway, this is very important, as tomimt said, seeing people granted IP usage and it does pave the way for others. Most of the major series now have been revived to a degree, or are one hit game away from the opportunity.
  3. He's done enough Trowe-lling for Sierra IP, that's for sure.. I'm done being serious on this topic. Time to either move on and focus on the 2Guys announcement, or look on the funny side of this. Only so many times we can rehash this story, I think the main exercise, getting kudos to the burned Replay volunteers and exposing Paul, is accomplished. Great job to all involved (except you-know-who).
  4. I just don't think it's worth it for Al going forward to associate himself with Paul Trowe. As I wrote on the Replay forums, Al already has the money, he has the critical acclaim, the point of continuing with Larry is partially to continue that, but more for himself and to finalize his legacy. Paul Trowe is death by association, presumably one of the reasons Josh left, and why would Al want his name saddled to that oaf long-term. Sooner or later he'll need to break the chain, and then we'll really know where we're at. I also think it's worth reiterating that Josh Mandel had a lot to do with the success, and quality of, LSL1:R. I would wager over 50% of the new text was written by him.
  5. The point is that things can be made well at Replay. Paul's not an idiot and the people there, Al, Josh, and the fans like you, Irishmile, were capable of quality output. As someone else said (Tom?), the problem is that Paul is not good at having power and being a spokesperson. Sadly Paul didn't heed his best employee's advice, Josh Mandel, who *countlessly* warned him against "dick moves" and tried to keep him in his box. And anything would be better than the original Larry Casino game (aside from the cousin Larry games). What a crock!
  6. Josh left I'm sure in no small part due to Paul's "idiocity", so no worries there. Just on that, that's a pretty big shift- coming on as CCO, then quitting 6 months later.. There's a story there too. Although, it probably ends like we already know, Paul's an obsequious troll who doesn't deserve the talents of Josho.
  7. While I agree with the pointlessness of remaking the VGA Larry games (and that Replay needed new games, including Larry 8, rather than remaking every Al Lowe game), it's not like Josho was a Scumsoft employee under the tyrannical reign of Elmo Pug. It was (is?) a mutually beneficial relationship. This may or may not be common knowledge, but Josh was going to be leveraging his position being close to the CEO Trowe, and making his own games and using Replay as a springboard. Hence, his promotion to CCO, he would have had high output and creative control at Replay. Fester Mudd had contributions from Josh and while this is a totally off-the-record comment, Josh mentioned to me on IM sometime last year that he was working on a new game that would be under the Replay Games banner (that's all I can say about that, probably too much even so). Finally, to close, the last thing I heard from Josho in May, included this bit (which we knew already, but in current context seems oddly fitting and eerily foreshadowing): "I can’t muzzle Paul any more." EDIT: From Facebook, I posted this: "Not saying Josh did the wrong thing or that Paul caused him to delete his FB account, just saying it's sad to see both Paul doing what he's doing and Josho going MIA at the same point. I would be very sad (and others I assume) if this final Trowe move spelled the end for Josho's involvement in the Sierra community or the adventure game community." On a much lighter note, Sam, I miss your old handle(s). I like the new one because I love SQ6 and Josh, but still I miss Waffler and the other couple you had. Now what were they.. Serena: Kudos for fitting Kielbasa's "Thank you" speech into your thankyous. You win an IOU netting you the free space cocktail of your choice next time you are in Oklahoma. :y: (Except a Uvula Spritzer, I really hate how those are made..) EDIT 2: I still had an account on the Replay forums, so I had a little silly rant. I feel somewhat better now. :P Serena, Irishmile, and everyone else, I hope you are too.
  8. Another point on Josh Mandel and why he's probably in damage control on his own end (sadly, probably in his own mind as opposed to the kind that Lawl Trowe-ll is doing): http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2012-12-04-replay-games-appoints-josh-mandel-as-cco He was going to be a big player at Replay (still is?) and I think this has really thrown a spanner in Josh's proverbial works, in terms of future game development for him and his career. Utterly tragic, yet another setback for the "3rd Guy from Andromeda" who (in my opinion) is the nicest ex-Sierra employee; one of the most talented, definitely the most funny and best at writing click messages. I hope I'm reading too much into this and that Replay isn't dead.. but it's hard to see how the ship can right itself this time, after Paul's final meltdown. (Guess you can't get that Astro Chicken timer to stop..)
  9. Hey, folks. How's everybody doing. I'm kinda late on this one, but there's just a few things I want to say: 1. YIKES 2. Serena, Irishmile, Jeroen, and so forth, sorry to hear about you guys getting shafted, you guys did a lot for the Replay community and the success of the Reloaded project, so thankyou from the bottom of my heart. I have a box in my SMC studio with larry reloaded stuff in it and i'm sure it wouldn't have happened without you guys. 3. Paul Trowe is a dickbag (more to the point, I started a thread about him during the 2Guys' Kickstarter last year and some people did not get that he was doing anything wrong.. I hope everybody is now on the same page about Paul and the potential harm he can bring to the Sierra table) 4. Josh Mandel has been the #1 important part of the LSL project and now that he is MIA, I am very worried. Any time a bad Paul thing was going down, I was talking to him about it, and while I can't really share any of that, it hurt Josh very deeply and he copped a lot of personal attacks on behalf of Replay, and misdirected anger over Paul got sent his way a lot as well. I would ask anyone and everyone, please send Josh an email at joshoATjosho.com and let him know that we're sorry he's been shafted in this way, and that we still love him for what he's done in the community and what he will do in the future. On Josh: Someone mentioned why Josh would want to be a part of Replay. Josh is a game designer, and Paul Trowe's numerous flaws aside (many of which were not necessarily obvious to Josh before these Kickstarter events), he has (had?) pulling power and was able to give Josh's projects budgets and attention. Obviously we have seen how that has ended, but there was good potential there. Sadly, Al and Josh's time, money and efforts have been ruined, for a better word, and post LSL:R, assuming Al and Josh work together in the future, they have to find another backer (although honestly, I don't see how Al would not have the money to fund it himself if he wanted to). Anyway, this is a truly sad affair, but kudos to the community for banding together like champs. Let's hope there's a silver lining (pun not intended) and that we come out of this stronger. Plus, for every Replay Games, there's a SpaceVenture, Hero-U, Moebius, and so forth.
  10. My CD is 1.1a, so I get the interpreter error. I'll see if one of my other SQ4CD's is 1.2.
  11. I think the 2 Guys would love to make another SQ, unless I've misread their enthusiasm, but they are working on making a company, Guys from Andromeda LLC. So to do that, they need IP which is theirs, not simply milking SQ and paying a large portion of any profits to Activision. I'm excited about this, I think SQ is going to be hard to continue, especially where it ended up, but I'm optimistic it will happen someday. To me, SpaceVenture sees really, really SQ ish so I'm pretty excited, and if successful I can only assume it means better chances of that long awaited SQ7 someday.
  12. Some of those Kickstarter rewards are a little.. unique.. I also want to know why i haven't heard of these guys. :)
  13. Harquimm, yeah, there are probably plenty of Oz fans interested, I would go on the Facebook page and try and drum up interest. I'm from Oz but I live in the States now, so this is one of those lucky things for me. Still, I don't live in California, so a bus or some sort of sharing is a definite win. I put 'Maybe' just for monetary reasons but I pretty much will be there unless lightning strikes. The Coles will show people around Yosemite, all kinds of good stuff will be going down.I know several Sierra folks from CA, there might be a Sierra band (working on that one), there's just so much potential!! As Pcj said (and this should be the motto): "Heading past epic to legendary"
  14. Wow, we talked about this on FB, but missed it here until now! Awesome job, Ken, bumping for the music pal :) EDIT: i see this got cancelled on KS.. what happened?
  15. Yeah, definitely need to hear about his motivations, why he represents these people and why it made sense to partner with the 2 Guys so he could link the two partnerships (his team of people he represents, and the Guys). Why he would get involved with Kickstarter, and most of all, what he sees going forward with the 2 Guys now that SpaceVenture is funded and will be made. Is it another SV game, will he be pursuing SQ IP, or will they move on? (Not a definite answer or anything, but just some ideas on what his goals with them are.)
  16. Likewise, I was working while it was on. :( We'll have to try to do something on a Sunday maybe. :) Great job Troels and co!
  17. Sir I am not. :) All themes contained therein will be recorded as its' own theme. Of course, for Alan I may be able to do a favour if requested..
  18. Thanks to the Two Guys who replied.. I mean, Troels and Vroom. Another fan made me realise the beta CD doesn't include track 7, which in the beta recording phase I wasn't happy with, so here's the round 2 version: http://www.sierramusiccentral.com/assorted/SQ4Track07.mp3
  19. Would love to be involved with this, and would love the Music Hangout too, kinda disappointed noone contacted me to let me know it might be going on!! :) Troels, contact me about this so we can plan it down the road a bit.
  20. Some really good posts in this thread; would love to see another interview with Chris, without wishing to place too much of the focus on his good self. Thanks to Pcj, Troels and Chris for doing such a great job behind the scenes, mainly for free/not much too..
  21. I like the idea of a puzzle where you have to rewire the dor; good one. Like a house call, kind of makes me think of SQ6 where Roger has to do a few janitorial style things like with Sharpei. Except, this would be a more friendly situation ;) I'm excited how much of a SQ-verse vibe this game has. I'm ready when you are, Guys!
  22. X-posted from SMC a week ago: (Fan feedback not required, but always appreciated. I am trying to move this project on out though, so nothing TOO detailed or nitpicky please!!) Beta soundtrack posted. http://www.sierramusiccentral.com/archives/assorted/SQ4BetaCD.zip (188 MB) It's rough, I have done some more versions since for some of these, but I wanted for you guys to listen to the score as I originally recorded, before making 'fine tuning', and give feedback. Tracks that will fade out or link together are not faded or linked, so some will end abruptly. Some have alternate versions, like SQ4Track01a and SQ4Track01b, later versions mean I usually did something alternate but wanted to keep both for the beta. Tracks are in 48kHz and are not normalized, so will be quiet. Thanks for bearing with me and let me know what you think. Hopefully I can get this out by the first week of November.
  23. At the end of the day, I like where they're going with combat, etc, but that's all window-dressing. I care about story, which the Coles will deliver in droves, and from what I've read, talked to the Coles about, etc, the focus will not be on HD art or photorealism, but rather, solid plot, RPG action, and above all, their mantra, FUN. That's what I care about, immersion and gameplay, not pretty, pointless things or pure looting or pure plot. QFG was always about balance an I feel really confident that they're following some of an old formula and a major new twist. Without wishing to diss the Guys, and I would have always pledged for SV no matter what, I feel this KS is more exciting in many ways. They're promising a lot and asking for not much. Plus, the team is very promising and Corey and Lori have been very open. They get major kudos in my book for that alone. Anyway, stay tuned. This will be a keeper.
  24. Alan, thanks so much. I Googled the heck out of this last night, but to no avail. I wonder whatever happened to the author; some of these quasi-remxes are actually decent, which is rare for any remix, let alone a fangame!
  25. No way!! I'm stoked for ya bud :y: :y: Take a photo of you and Amanda for us :)
