I think there's a bigger issue being neglected here and that's one of trust. Even if he withdrew completely from the public eye and let someone else steer the ship, just the fact that he has previously dealt in some shady business practices (thinking specifically of the finagling-funds-for-Tom-King scheme here) would make it hard to accept anything coming out of a company where he is employed as kosher.
I mean, they'd basically have to make it part of the marketing campaign at this point: "Trowe only packed the boxes! No shady deals were involved in the making of this game!"

Also, only moments ago, I created a website for the podcast where you can always find the latest episode and, er, other stuff.  Yep -- http://spacequesthistorian.com is a reality.

After recording my segments for the "Thank you" vid for the Andromedan overlords & The Space Pope, as well as the upcoming podcast episode,

I recently got a semi-buzzed-induced flash of creative genius...[or insanity!]

At some point it might be fun for a bunch of us to do a retrospective on the Space Quest Series and/or Sierra games in general done in the vain of the "I love the **insert decade, holiday, or fad here** specials that VH1 used to produce ad-nauseam in the early 2000s

I want to thank everybody again who contributed to my little idea. It isn't even my idea anymore, I feel like I played such a small part in this. I said in one of the comments already on Facebook that I really didn't even feel like I knew what I was doing half the time, it just sort of developed a life of its own and that's entirely due to the content that you guys made. For my part, I know I'm not very funny and can't act to save my life, so I'm glad that I had so much great content from lots of other much funnier people than myself to hide my stuff between. I'm just glad I could stand alongside you guys.

This community really is the best. Thanks again.

It sure did, man. Watching this stirred that odd, rare, warm feeling of pride I have of being part of one of the most tight-knit, dedicated game communities ever.

As much as The Two Guys and the Space Pope rock, so do the Space Quest fans. Much love.

Just spent all day organizing and arranging all these videos together. I think I've finally got this flowing nicely. It really is something special and even more funny with everyone's excellent humour put together. The final video length is just about 25 minutes.

I'll do some fine-tuning and adding sound effects, music, and text during the week.

Yeah, if you didn't mind going through all the cool stuff in the box, that sort of copy protection was more fun. Similar to the Conquest games, whose copy protection taught a lot of the mythology or whatever with it. Anything that's more intelligent than just "what is the seventeenth word of the third line of the second paragraph?" The KQ3 spellbook was another decent way to do it.

Sir Procestuous reacted to Troels Pleimert in Style of the new game...
Did I mention it's funny? I've been peeking over Scott's shoulders on the script that's being put together for the demo. Like PCJ, I am not at liberty to disclose much (unless I want an incredibly well-shirted Pope on my back), but I can tell you that those of you Josh-Mandel-types who enjoy clicking on every object everywhere is in for a treat. They're doing something with exploring the game world that I'm not sure I've seen in any other adventure game -- on the surface it's just your standard Sierra-inspired interface, but the way it works is something altogether new. And, without giving too much away, it ties into the pioneering spirit of the first Space Quest game.

Even though it has nothing to do with graphics, the writing style still has to do with the "style" of the game ... and, from a fan perspective, I'd say SpaceVenture is shaping up to sound a lot like SQ4 with some of the whimsical "going off on tangents" SQ2-style messages thrown in. That probably makes no sense. So you're just gonna have to wait and see. I will, however, share with you one piece of direction I got from Scott while adding a few placeholder messages in the script: "Gah! Puns are forbidden, Troels! I'll spank you later and don't care that you might enjoy it."

Sir Procestuous reacted to Troels Pleimert in Star Con
Well, there are a few assumptions along the way that we've always sort of taken for granted, but which could be explained away by the very ambiguous ending to SQ4. Actually, we need to start calling the SQ4 we know "time-travel SQ4" or something, because, where the timeline is concerned, SQ4 never actually happened.

The big thing we always take for granted is that Roger was transported back to Magmetheus or Xenon in the "present" of SQ4 after the events in "time-travel SQ4" and presumably joined the StarCon Academy ... which, somehow, has come into existence, despite never being mentioned in any of the previous games.

So yeah. Alternate timeline. Because regardless of where Roger got spat back after "time-travel SQ4," it creates a paradox where there's now a Roger in the Magmethean space bar, drinking with aliens, not getting interrupted by Sequel Policemen. Meaning, the Roger that got spat back after "time-travel SQ4" occupies an alternate, redundant timeline (the one SQ5 and SQ6 takes place in), and the real Roger is still in that bar somewhere, or possibly outside, trying drunkenly to find the keys to the Mallard. Alan Luckachina figured it out first, though. ;)
