Intendant S got a reaction from Finn-R in List of Space Quest Fan GamesI personally have no problem with people using ripped game assets...as long as the game itself is good. A good story and characters always trump things like graphics in my opinion. Maybe it's because I started out with Zork and the other IF games.

Intendant S got a reaction from Troels Pleimert in What are you playing? For that style of game, I'm rather partial towards Gone Home. That one really resonated with me. For obvious reasons.

Intendant S got a reaction from MusicallyInspired in Mass Collaborative Tribute Video *COMPLETE!!*It took me a couple takes, but I ended up just going with what I did on the last one. No editing involved as I kinda suck at that sort of thing. All in all, a couple minutes of me stumbling through my lines.

Intendant S got a reaction from MusicallyInspired in Paul Trowe criticism on Kickstarter updateSo it appears speaking your mind gets punished by being kicked out of the club. Not only have I been asked to leave the team because I wouldn't take back what I've said here but I've been locked out of the Replay forums completely. I can't even read what's posted. All the time and effort I've put forth to help Larry get released was rewarded with a great big "Fuck you!" Thanks for showing your true colors, Paul. If you're still monitoring this thread then I want you to know I'm not supporting any future Larry games as long as you're at the helm.

Intendant S got a reaction from suejak in Least Favorite Space QuestOne of my favorite lines in SQV was the homage to Trouble With Tribbles. "But, captain. He called the ship a garbage scow." "Cliffy, it IS a garbage scow." Or something to that effect. That line cracks me up every time.

Intendant S got a reaction from Sir Procestuous in Al Lowe retires (again), probably due to issues with Paul TrowePersonally, I feel that there already IS a "Sierra 2.0" going on right now. If not in name, then certainly in spirit. Between Al and Josh teaming up for LSL:R, Jane and Robert with Moebius and GK20, the Coles with Hero-U, Scott and Mark with SpaceVenture, and even Ken Allen's Under the Half Dome album a lot of the Sierra alums already have returned. Hell, I'd even lump the IQ and Himalaya guys with Quest for Infamy and Mage's Initiation (respectively) in this list.
And I actually prefer to see my dev teams spread out instead of under one roof. The Kickstarter regulars know that I've backed dozens of adventure game projects and aside from having to keep track of multiple forums for projects I like it this way. It gives more creative freedom to the people working on these games. Having one person, especially "he-who-shall-not-be-named", in charge kinda ruins the magic we've been seeing over the past couple of years.

Intendant S got a reaction from penguinfan in SpaceVenture: Episodic or Full-Game release?I'd be fine with a split down the middle like Broken Age or Broken Sword (talk about broken games. :P).

Intendant S got a reaction from MusicallyInspired in SpaceVenture: Episodic or Full-Game release?I was seriously surprised by how well Lilly Looking Through and Detective Grimoire were and they got a so little money from their Kickstarters. And I've been testing Quest for Infamy and it's shaping up to be a great game, too. And each of these titles only took in five digits each. It's hard for me to see how much Double Fine got and still had money issues, plus releasing IMHO a mediocre game.

Intendant S got a reaction from MusicallyInspired in Kickstart Ventures Games Library Updated!Okay so today is the day! We're ready to release the game library to the public! The game library is an index of crowd funded adventure and RPG games we've come across since KickstartVentures started. We hope this allows you to either discover something new or get updates on a project you may have backed or known about anyway.
The listing of games gives you the option to filter via release status and genre as well as searching for a specific game. Each game includes release platforms, screenshots, release dates, trailers and more. You'll be sure to discover something new looking through our database.
So check out the link below and let us know what you think. And as always we welcome all feedback, suggestions and more. Like any newly released product, we will intend to improve and enhance it as time goes by and we already have some great ideas in the pipeline. If you think we're missing a game too we have a submit page you can check out to let us know.
Hope you find this useful. If you could share this to as many people as you can we would appreciate that a lot.

Intendant S reacted to DrJ in SpaceVenture: Episodic or Full-Game release? It's been awhile since I wrote something here.
Here's my take.. I'd be okay with a split down the middle for SpaceVenture. What happened to Double Fine is rather annoying. They went far above & beyond their goal and still ran into financial issues. Granted - they were aiming for a smaller project initially but gosh - you cant make 1 full adventure game with 3.3 million dollars (or 2.9 if you take the 400k in rewards they had to send out)? Having seen other projects and somewhat having been involved in some - it's difficult to make a quality game with a small budget and not exceed it. So sign me up!

Intendant S reacted to Troels Pleimert in Other kickstarters that need helpAgustín Cordes, the Scratches/Asylum/Serena guy, tweeted something about Indiegogo being a horrible platform that withheld on promises and mismanaged people's funds. He did not provide a source other than citing other devs that had experienced problems, though.
Anyway, I suppose with any platform that manages so many donations - and, in the case of Purple's example, managing people with, shall we say, alternative creative ideas - is bound to run into some difficulty at one point or another. This is still a burgeoning field, and it has to do with that tender concept of money. No one's gonna get that right all the time. ;)

Intendant S reacted to drdrslashvohaul in Something that DOES worry me...And given that LSL was always tongue in cheek (and in other places too), engaging with it might have uncovered some of the great humour in the series. It is worth noting the article was written by a Brit (I'm assuming you guys across the pond/Channel have zero clue who Rory McGrath is), and LSL is very hyper-American. It's a piss take on the US porn culture and a multitude of other things, most of which I'm not sure most of us Commie Limeys really "get". That said, a lot of the jokes the author makes in that article are pretty funny - and probably mean nothing to people younger than 25 living outside of England! :D
That said, I think the general criticism that the humour and gameplay mechanics were still stuck in the late-80s is somewhat fair, if clumsily made.
Anyway, back to the topic: this is why I hope SpaceVenture is a modernisation, not a rehash.

Intendant S reacted to Frede in Something that DOES worry me...To be fair, that Kickstopper campaign was started from within Replay Games fairly long ago. And it was so malicious, stupid and clumsy that it felt more like Curbstomper, if you ask me.
Overall, I agree with JimmyTwoBucks. Also, the Guys are trying to recapture the classic "Space Quest"-feeling, I guess. How many outright visually funny locales did SQ1 and SQ2 have? I can think of parts of Ulence Flats. The rest is pretty generic space ship/desert planet/jungle planet stuff. It's what unexpectedly transpires on in those serious-looking rooms that's funny.
Bringing in Josh Mandel isn't really fair. SQ6 had some brilliant jokes and gags and it's possibly the most outright funny game in the series. At times, it's also the least subtle, which in itself would make it very different from something penned by Scott Murphy.
I haven't lost confidence in the Guys. We just have to remember that they're carrying on from where they left in 1991 and not from where Josh left in 1995.

Even the game is split, we would still have the option individually of waiting to play anything until the whole thing is finished. It would take a lot of self-control, and I don't think I could do it. :-( I would break down and play it immediately.
Basically, I just want whatever would lead to the best game possible and the best chance for it to be a lasting success. My own enjoyment and any personal inconvenience of having to take a break in the middle isn't really something I'm too concerned about. The game is going to be around for a long time, and if they choose to release it in stages in order to deliver the best product possible, then I would totally support them.
I have a feeling this game is going to hit the bull's eye and be very well-received.

Intendant S reacted to JimmyTwoBucks in Something that DOES worry me...Yes! It could be everyone's favorite corridors from all the SQ games linked together, and you've basically just got
to run away from the slime from SQ4 and the robot from SQ2...
And at the very end of all the corridors is the SQ4 skate-o-rama where you have to dodge the sequel police and the
slime and the SQ2 robot all at the same time.
