Other kickstarters that need help

I thought with the space quest community being what we are, that it might be nice for us to reach out and help other kickstarters in need. With that in mind, I present Unforgotten Quest, a 2D side scrolling action RPG with a heavy focus on humour an d4th wall breaking (really its right up the alley of space quest fans) You can check out the kick starter here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/urealms/unforgotten-quest

from what I understand, after talking to some people about it, linux would be a stretch goal. The guy making this is pretty much making the game single handedly, so he needs to plan his time and finances carefully. I use linux too and I can safely say that programming a game for a linux system is....challenging, and the large majority of people don't use it, because its not as "user frienly" as windows and mac, so he would need extra incentive to do a linux port.

It depends on whether the dev starts out thinking cross-platform or not. If you pick the wrong libraries, every new platform can be a major pain with plenty of platform-specific code, but done right most of the work in adding a new platform is testing with some amount of debugging thrown in. Take Minecraft as a good example of an Indie game that is cross-platform with the help of solid libraries that handle the details.

thats fine if you are kickstartered out, the idea of this topic was to post kick starters that need more attention. If you know someone who might be interested in whatever gets posted here, or if you find kickstarters YOu want to bring more attention to, post em here and hopefully we good space quest fans will spread the word as far as we can :)

I like it. :) The thought of giving other Kickstarters some attention, that is. Despite Kickstarter Fatigue now being a very real thing indeed, we in the Keronian Underground spent a lot of time trolling other game forums during the SpaceVenture Kickstarter and it's only fair that other noble ventures do the same with ours. ;)

I also want to know why i haven't heard of these guys. :)

How many of the nerdcore bands who got invited to Nerdapalooza have you heard of? As a non-musically-oriented geek I only recognized one of them (not counting Duane and BrandO from this kickstarter thread), and I'm sure you can guess which one

On an unrelated note, I see they have a fan at the ever-entertaining tropes site:

Terezar, for me native games are way better -- wine is a last resort, often with annoying glitches and occasionally fails to work altogether (especially on less popular games, such as adventure games that I want to play). Loki native ports I used to play were flawless, and the Jack Keane port by Runesoft was also perfect. From early reports it sounds like Unity 4 Linux port was well done so there is going to be a bunch of solid native games coming out soon, thus there is little motivation to bother with any windows games that I don't already own.

Also maybe you misread what I was trying to say? I wasn't saying that it lacked a native port, rather that the plot is unlikely to hold my interest. Maybe that was a delayed reaction to my earlier complaint about Unforgotten Quest though.

This one isn't in peril, but I thought you guys might be interested about it. Basically you'll get a digital pack of short stories and a couple of books by Bradley Beaulieu with 5 bucks. Not a bad deal, despite I haven't read any of his works yet.

Newish author, so probably most people haven't read any of them yet...

first 15 chapters of one of his books available as pdf:

The Red Queen of Oz is currently in-progress as a graphic novel, but this project is for expanding the story into an adventure game, which the project creator has been hoping for all along.

Those who don't like any combat will be happy to know it's completely optional, and those who just don't like the twitchy stuff will be happy to know that combat is turn-based if you don't skip it.

Supported platforms: Linux, Mac, Windows (mobile will probably be a stretch goal, if stretch goals become relevant)

What do you get when you take a traditional point-and-click adventure game and add a liberal dose of Boggle to the mix? You get Spellirium, a fun looking blend of story and spelling game. Now, it's not on Kickstarter or Indigogo, but they instead created their own funding page. Head on over to http://spellirium.com/ and check it out.
