Don't know if anyone's interested about this anymone, but I recently purchased highly tweaked version of DosBox called DosBox Turbo for my Android tablet and I have to say it's thus far tthe best Android port of Dosbox out there. You can use absolute mouse positioning, though still experimental, on it, which makes playing point and click games pretty fun. I even managed to get Gabriel Knight working on it. In comparision to other Dosbox ports for Android Turbo works very fast. Here's a Youtube video showing speed difference between different ports using Doom: It's still not as easy to set up as ScummVM, so be prepared to tweaking autoexec files manually. It's a hassle, but it you've been looking for acutally working, good port of DosBox, then Turbo is pretty much the best choice. This post has been promoted to an article

Powerslide is actually surprisingly good looking game, though it might have something to do with the fact that it mostly seems to have vehicle models, which are much more forgiving for sharp edges than organic models. And the texturing looks like a top notch job.

I konw my view might be unfair, but that's always been my view of old 3D. When it came came popular in games back in the 90's I always could appreciate the technicality of it, but I rarely did appreciate the aesthetics of it. Many games were, IMO, artisticly butchered because of forced use of 3D (Simon 3D, anyone?) when there just wasn't any particular need for it. From a technical stand, I am well aware the limitations of the 90's, I am a 3D hobbyist myself, and IMO 3D has only recently (meaning during the mid 2000's) turned into a tool that will stand test of time better. Most efforts before that, while some tehcnically necessary, I find unappealing visually.

This one isn't in peril, but I thought you guys might be interested about it. Basically you'll get a digital pack of short stories and a couple of books by Bradley Beaulieu with 5 bucks. Not a bad deal, despite I haven't read any of his works yet. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2119763779/lest-our-passage-be-forgotten-and-other-stories

Yeah, Shadows has issues, but after the bug fixes it's perfectly playable, with good story and the artwork and soundtrack are just stunning. Dragon Fire on the other hand is in every aspect inferior to all the other games in the series. And then there's the old 3D, which was ugly the day it was made and hasn't turned any prettier. Though I've always been critical towards old real time 3D.

I could have been more lenient on the art if the other aspects of the game had been good. It was a terrible letdown after Shadows of Darkness, which is easily my favourite on the series.
-
Dragon Fire has terrible art style. Though low resolution 3D is mostly to blame for that.

I had no doubt about it passing the goal, there's a lot of enthustiastic people around it.

I said it on some other forum, but at this moment I'm not that interested about junior adventurers quest for herodom. It's a bit hard to explain, really, as the game will most likely be good on it's own right, but it just doesn't appeal to me at this time.

That was well made and funny to boot. Very SpaceQuestey.

Dosbox doesn't run that well on Android thought. And the key settings for older games might be a nightmare. ScummVM really is the best choice at the moment, as the game it support run fairly well.

I don't have anything against the game style itself. It does remind me of Zelda as well and I do like Zelda. But it just hasn't grabbed my full attnetion either yet, it doesn't feel like a must have game, at least for now. But maybe some future update will fix that. It took me quite a while to pledge on Jane Jensen's project as well.

From some reason not really an instant back for me. Something about the pitch video just didn't do it for me, so I'll be lurking the project for updates before I make my final decision.

Pledge Quest II: Noodle Shop of Horrors has arrived!

While I doubt there's that many new pledges coming towards SV anymore this was still pretty brilliant. I just loved Vohaul the cat. -
Have you checked your spam folder? I didn't get the e-mail either, but the "forgotten password" worked for me.

What if Space Quest 6 went in the OTHER direction?
tomimt replied to Sir Procestuous's topic in Starcon Academy
I never was a huge fan of SQ6. It's a odd collection of good looking graphics and poorly fitting animation with a mess of a plot that didn't manage to hold my interest. I don't know, I would have propably had the first half of the game as Roger being a captain and then messing his career up so that he ends up back to Mallard and then take it from there to Roger doing what he does best. I have mixed feelings about SQ5 as well, as I'm not a trekkie. It's an okay game, but it rarely felt like a SQ game. But then again, SQ4 was an hard act to follow. -
As far traditional adventuring goes the first two are the best on the series. The later games do lose some of their charm because of the 3D and action adventuring. But even the later parts do have enjoyable moments in them.

So, I pretty much guessed it already, but the Broken Sword has returned with a Kickstarter: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/165500047/broken-sword-the-serpents-curse-adventure It's in traditional point and click style in the vein of 1 and 2 this time and it does look pretty sweet.

It will be interestig to see if the Guys do manage to get the other stretch goals after they release the concpet art 5. It's a good thing they are taking their time with it, polishing it up, in order to get more flys to the honey.

To satisfy my need for keycards I usually pickpocket hotel guests.

So they've doing what all the cool kids are these days :D Unity seems to be quickly growing into defacto engine of indie games.

The opening set in Xenon in SQ4 has always appealed to me. You dodge danger after another, solve some puzzles and then you stumble to the time machine in true Roger style without good grasp on what you are doing. Plus there's a lot of stylish graphics there.

A one-room AGI/AGS adventure to promote SpaceVenture?
tomimt replied to Decaffeinated Jedi's topic in Andromedan Spaceport
It will be interesting to see Pledge Quest 2: Pledge Harder.
