  1. Actually, because I had access to the source Roland Sound Canvas MIDI files when creating my SQ5 soundtrack, you can hear bits and pieces of this, including the full intro music, and the drumkits mentioned, in my soundtrack, here: www.sierramusiccentral.com/sq5cd Some examples: "Space Bar" uses the GS drumkit "Jazz" Closing, Final Countdown, Goliath Attacks, Intercepting Transmssion, parts of the Intro, WD-40 on KU and WD-40 The Bust all use the Orchestral drumkit. Of course, in my soundtrack quite often I've mixed them alongside a MT-32 drumkit or something else, but you can compare to the original in-game recording that's on SpaceQuest.Net and hear the difference. it does have a great Orchestral feel.
  2. Hey folks, Cool new fix from NewRisingSun, the man behind the timer fixes. From the man himself: In plain English, you get stereo sound instead of mono for Adlib/Sound Blaster, and if you have General MIDI you get upgraded sound by way of less note dropouts and that one intro sound effect, and if you have a General MIDI Roland device, you get GS drumkits too, like 'Orchestra' and 'Jazz'! Get it while it's hot at: http://www.sierramusiccentral.com/assorted/sq5NRS.zip
  3. Heh, I did the same with the Guys page tonight ,not looking past about 500.. ;) I've been saying it for a while, but the campaign has always had too much text and too many options. If we could simplify much, we would have something a lot easier for the public to see and make decisions about I disagree about the 550K goal though- I like the 'easy' goal to be the translations, as it's really something the Guys would have done anyway but just wanted a placeholder goal which also gives incentive to international folk to pledge more. Smart.. Some of the others- maybe a bit haphazard and too lofty, but it is what it is. That's what they're offering, so let's run with it and see if we can't get 550K or thereabouts. That's my expectation, 600 would be a dream, but let's hit 550 first.
  4. Funnier to think of a Crow drawing Cluck :) Great work as always, Chris. Really great work. I love the big box that says "A Real Pantload"! Hilarious! My only complaints, minor as the yare, is that the list of rewards looks almost 1:1 the same as the KS page, so I wouldn't get anything new for pledging again, aside from stretch goals of course. The other being what's been said before, female protag maybe 625 or something like that. And, didn't I see a lot of the fans at the wrap party ask for an original MT-32 soundtrack mode? (OK, maybe too hard to implement, but still.. Hey, i'd convert it if given MIDI's)
  5. The genius of Space Quest 4 (and to an extent, SQ5/6) was that you could visit and revisit planets and locales, so if you missed an item or event, it could be revisited later. That in itself nixes most unwinnable positions.
  6. Excellent work, really good and funny :)
  7. Wow, this exceeds my wildest, I was expecting 490K when I got home from work, optimistically.. This is just so great. And to think a week or so ago we all were worried this might not even make it. As I said on the KS comments: Thanks to everyone, special thanks to Chris Pope, Pcj and Troels, who have been instrumental in making this happen.. i'm practically in tears here :) :D
  8. Yes indeedy, Stephen :) Let's make this happen. pledges, word on the street, whatever you can do.The more that's announced about this game, the more it feels like a cousin of Space Quest, and it has Gary owens as well as the Two Guys. I'm very confident about the quality of the project and am getting there about the funding. But we need to make it happen!! Two places to stay over the next 59 hours are: 1. SpaceQuest.Net chat, to keep SQ fans pumped up about SV: http://www.spacequest.net/index.php/page/chat.html 2. Kickstarter comments thread, to praise pledgers new and improved, and keep the impetus going, and keep it positive (of course, this only works if you're a backer): http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/spaceventure/two-guys-spaceventure-by-the-creators-of-space-que/comments
  9. It doesn't end there- they parted ways in the 90's due to creative differences, and recently reunited (only a few months before thw Two Guys) to make a new Red Dwarf season together! Crazy coincidental, given both are sci-fi parodies, and also both series started around the same time, late 80's. Red Dwarf Season X (10) will be released in late 2012 in HD on UK channel Dave, maybe over here inthe US, of course I'll pirate it anyway. I for one are super pumped about it. RD is one of my fave shows of all time, kept the quality of the scripts over the years, even season 7 and 8 are funny to some extent.
  10. unconventional, sure, interesting and neat, yes :) Good job Akril. Time to bug you about working on more games, I think ;)
  11. Yeah, I could post further opinion and hearsay, but it's been said. What needs to be said.. Great post Raiden. You were posting on the AG forums, which I linked to. I agree with what you said, it was jumping the gun to post an article, although from my Sierra contacts I've heard Paul Trowe is very much in damage control over it, so it's unlikely if he is involved with any of this that there'll be incidents anytime soon (from what I hear) Only thing I'll add to mjomble's Paul Trowe motives is that he posted also on Facebook that because US Activision wasn't going to give the rights to Space Quest, whether the UK division would yield better results (or words to that effect). And that research neded to be made into that avenue. that tells us something, given he wrote that AFTER his conciliatory posts on these forums saying he was 100% behind the Two Guys and regretted his actions, and all that.
  12. Excellent, I didn't realise a demo was out there man. This looks like a Sierra game. For serious. I'm really excited about it. I would say it looks like the first oldschool QFG game since QFG2, but that would be disrespectful to Lori/Corey and they're friends of mine ;) Seriously, great work. I know it will succeed, I love Klytos, Broomie, etc. Will post if I get time to view this! I will pledge eventually anyway.
  13. Classy response from my old friend Paul. On the Wisecrack thing, I don't know how many people have followed the AdventureGamers thread: http://www.adventuregamers.com/forums/viewthread/172/P90 Steve Ince from Wisecrack has been highly professional regarding the Wisecrack/Replay thing, which cannot be said for Paul. I doubt he's invovled in any underhanded stuff. Anywho, I'm sick of reading about this. This guy needs to disappear until there's Larry news to come out. On the wives and girlfriends thing, I think Tawnis, Drslash and Frede are all 100%.. Tawmis's comment about being stuck in a man cave feels awfully familiar!
  14. Blackthorne, looked at the KS page yesterday, looks freakin' awesome I will definitely be a backer a little further into it (gotta wait for SV to cool down). Really excited, look s like a QFG gam with more of an anti-hero. Kitchen's artwork you posted looks especially Spielburgish. My only request is for additional tiers, but you guys are a smaller project, so I understand if that's not the idea.
  15. :y: to the Two Guys and Chris Pope. Great job. Visit tgakick.com for more details, download the PowerPoint or PDF (I recommend the PP) for full coverage! I'm excited about Ace Hardway and his helper Rooter, and the 'visions' of Cluck sound hilarious.. It sounds similar to but just different enough from SQ that I'm eager for it.
  16. I don't thik there's anything remotely trolling about Corey's comments. He's a good friend of mine, and a very well respected guy. I would listen to him, Ken Allen, Josh Mandel, and a few others with open ears.
  17. I dunno, all the evidence from the fans would suggest that we're pretty fanboyish and superexcited to see the Guys. that (should) make it a lot easier, especially given Scott and Mark's extrovertish kind of personalities. The Paul Trowe thing was a direct quote, but said as a joke, I wasn't serious in any way with my comment.
  18. Lots of good things are happening. Let's keep working hard, and if times are rough, we have this nugget from our man Paul Trowe:
  19. The SQ7 MIDI files are here if you want to use any of it: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1326711/Space%20Quest%207.zip
  20. I actually agree with a lot of what was said in that post, for a relative newcomer to the boards, great post :) The comment on tiers especiall I think is apt. There is certainly something missing from the upper tiers. Also, the point on the 2 Guys. Something's still not quite right in their camp. Can't quite put a finger on what it is, but there is some interesting body language. Anywho, this is it, the home stretch (or not). We'll see if it succeeds or fails, then we'll see what comes next. One way or another, the Two Guys are together, and that a least is a good thing in itself.
  21. If you want to reuse SQ music, let me know. If Troels is agreeable, we could use the SQ7 music that was never released. Do you need MIDI or digital files?
  22. Thanks for clarifying Tawmis :) Good to hear that one is over.
  23. Apparently so.. http://venturebeat.com/2012/05/30/leisure-suit-larry-creator-wants-infringing-kickstarter-campaign-taken-down-exclusive/ Thoughts? Seems like maybe it's being taken too far by Replay, but it's hard to say. I'm not sure how I feel just yet.
  24. Coolness, folks. Thanks for all contributing to it and making it a success! Sorry I couldn't participate, darn working on Friday night.
  25. Doneski, Fran's.
