  1. My pleasure! It was great having you on! Mind if I ask what country of origin you have? I seriously wasn't expecting you to have an accent. :)
  2. Oh god, the fucking sandwiches again ... look, it's bread against bread with bits in the middle. How is this so hard for men to make on their own? Sorry, broke character there. ;)
  3. The Incinerations one is kick-ass! :D The sequence in the game itself is kick-ass, too. Probably the most heartpoundingly kick-ass action sequence in any Space Quest game ever.
  4. Thanks! How do I get in touch with this fabulous Joe character?
  5. You cheeky devil you. :P Actually, you made me consider something I had neglected to think of ... you know, me being a rampant chauvinist and all. A female reading voice would be just as effective! So, uh, scratch the "deep" part. A fittingly emotive, cool and professional sounding voice. That's the ticket!
  6. For an upcoming podcast episode, I wanted to highlight some of the fan fiction that has come out of the Space Quest community. For that, I really wanted someone with a cool, deep, emotive, professional sounding voice to read some passages from some of the stories and novels that have been created over the years. Pretty much someone with a voice completely antithetical to my own. ;) Applicants are welcome. Please submit a short sample of your voice reading, well, whatever you feel like. Just so I can get an impression of how you sound. You would also need to have some halfway decent recording equipment, just so there isn't too much distracting background noise and so we can hear your inflections clearly. Any takers?
  7. Sorry, the PC speaker sound isn't that essy to capture. Except ... hmm, doesn't ScummVM emulate PC speaker sound through the sound card? You could try running Audacity next to it whilst playing and record the game audio through the sound card. I'm sorry I can't give you any detailed instructions; the procedure varies depending on your sound card.
  8. Oh, but yes, you can! DosBox has a built-in capture facility. And if you're using ScummVM, there's always Fraps -- it's free and easy to use.
  9. Yeah, and that whole power of speech and independant thought. Such a nuisance.
  10. Priapic Mountain should totally option the rights from Activision.
  11. Haha, fantastic. Does it make that creepy-ass pc speaker sound as well?
  12. Oh, poopy. Well, here's where I got it from: http://www.angelfire.com/scifi/planetrog/pr_download_music.html That's okay; I wouldn't want you to show off something you weren't satisfied with. :) Well, as far as it not being in the Christmas episode for the 25th, there really is no time frame. I would just feature it whenever you were done and dusted with it.
  13. Brandon: You mean this one? :) I did a search for "Format Countdown" and it was the only one that came up. I know there was at least three versions I did in tracker format (.MOD/.S3M), which, granted, all sucked, but I'd love to somehow get those back. Curse my inability to keep track of backups.
  14. The 5th episode is out, featuring BlockMaster, Akril, RogerWilcoFan2015 (Alan Luckachina), as well as those fine gentlemen of rock, MusicallyInspired (Brandon Blume) and Ken Allen. http://traffic.libsyn.com/techjives/2013-12-11-SQ_Historian_Episode5Below_the_SurfacePtI.mp3 Also, only moments ago, I created a website for the podcast where you can always find the latest episode and, er, other stuff. Yep -- http://spacequesthistorian.com is a reality.
  15. Do you think it would be possible to present a sneak preview of your medley containing the Format Countdown on the podcast? Could be a teaser for your big medley.
  16. If you get a script going on Google Docs and invite me, I'd be happy to look it over and punch it up once you've got a first draft going.
  17. I like to pretend I was the one who came up with the title "Format Countdown," which has since become sorta the accepted title for that track. I know that's not the title Ken Allen gave it. I may be wrong about making it up, of course. But I like to think I did. ;)
  18. PCJ is right (as usual). This is the track I mean: http://www.spacequest.net/archives/sq4/soundtrack/SQ4_31-%20Format%20Countdown.mp3
  19. Yeah. He and Mark were told, late in the process, "Hey, if you have any comments, please let us know!" And so they did, only to be told, "Well, we can't change that. Anything else?" Scott hates SQ1VGA with a passion.
  20. Hey there, music archivists! The next episode of the Space Quest Historian podcast (coming out on Dec 25) is going to prominently feature my all-time favorite tune from the Space Quest series, the Format Countdown. I know there have been a bunch of remixes and reworkings of this tune over the many years -- I know I did a few myself, which I have sadly lost. I managed to find my old "rock'n'roll remix" MIDI on an old Angelfire site, but I know there are many more somewhere out there. Can anyone hook me up with any cool versions of this kick-ass tune? The more, the merrier!
  21. Oh, no contest. But what if Sammy has a scheduling conflict?
  22. Weird, yes, but nonetheless interesting, because the file is usually never allowed to finish playing in the game (it's meant to be cut off once the Sequel Policeman reaches Roger's table). So it's actually really interesting to listen to uninterrupted. If you isolate that bit and bump it even further down to 11khz 8 bit mono, it should play as intended. Or you can just boot up SQ4, watch the intro and hit the space bar while Roger's talking. The game will pause and bring up the "wanna skip?" box, but Roger will keep talking.
  23. I'd love to do a voice for Incinerations, but I think Datadog said during the commentary that he didn't have time to organize a talkie project. Of course, he could always bounce the script and let the fan community sort that out. Something tells me a huge fight would erupt over who gets to play Doomtron. ;)
