Deleted stuff in Space Quest I VGA
Troels Pleimert replied to BlockMaster's topic in Starcon Academy
Same here. :) Well, as many as possible, anyway. Great! :D Hah! :) You do any voice you want. Hell, if you wanted to distort your voice, Sludge Vohaul-style, that's entirely up to you. Go nuts. Again, go nuts and we'll figure it out in the edit. I have no "maximum" running time for the podcast. Don't feel constrained. :)- 54 replies

SpaceVenture Update #82 (Split from Criticism thread)
Troels Pleimert replied to billybob476's topic in Andromedan Spaceport
The SpacePope did an interview recently where he said they were shooting for a 2014 release, but that he isn't comfortable committing to a firm release date until the programming department is sorted out. The game will be out for desktop and mobile devices. Nothing's changed here. The UI is still being worked on (the finished game might not even have the Sierra-style interface you saw in the demo), but I do believe labeled hotspots will be part of it. Not sure if they'll just show up when you hover the mouse over them, or if you have to "inspect" the object to find out what it is. That stuff is still being decided. -
Deleted stuff in Space Quest I VGA
Troels Pleimert replied to BlockMaster's topic in Starcon Academy
That being said, I don't want to cause any problems by constantly bringing up my podcast -- which I do realize I do too often, but there's just so much good stuff out there that would be perfect for it. Feel free to branch this thread off into a separate thread, if you want to, MI. For the record, though, I don't care if people know what the podcast is about or what's going to be in it. I consider it a teaser. It's not like forum readers are going to be reading our scripts or hearing our voices ahead of time. And, frankly, much of the stuff on the podcast is already public knowledge and "old news," so it's really the humor and presentation of the facts itself that I'm interested in. And also, like MI said, reaching beyond the confines of the SQ community (although I'm not kidding myself; I realize we're primarily preaching to the converted here). It's all in good fun. :)- 54 replies

Isn't the "you've been most entertaining" line from if you wander around the Keronian desert for too long? I can't find a screenshot right now (at work), but the death image is the blue mortician with two coffins surrounding him. Hey, Akril. BlockMaster DM'ed me yesterday to ask about what he should talk about. I suggested he get in touch with you, so you can divide up your efforts. You've both got excellent lists of things to talk about, but there is some overlap you might want to work out. I don't want to get in there and dictate what you have to say, but ... well, I could, if you wanted to. As far as time limit, nah, go on for as long as you want. If you go for too long, I might split it up into several bits (like I did with Blackthorne). Intendant_S handed in a 7 minute mp3, which is probably where I'd cut off a segment, unless it's so scintillatingly interesting that I can't stop listening to it. Sexy voices help here. (And this is coming from a guy who was railing viciously against misogyny earlier today ... yes, I am a man of many facets.)- 54 replies

Mass Collaborative Tribute Video *COMPLETE!!*
Troels Pleimert replied to MusicallyInspired's topic in Andromedan Spaceport
Good call. We'll leave the name alone. I have also created a thread in World-o-Wonders relating to our new YouTube-channel where people can post links to videos we should add. :) -
Thanks to Frederik Olsen, SpaceQuest.net now has its own YouTube-channel. It's paired up with the Google+ page (http://gplus.to/rogerwilco), so the title of the channel is the same as the Google+ page -- but we make it clear that it's not the official Two Guys channel. Check it out here: http://www.youtube.c...sFromAndromeda/ We're busy adding Space Quest stuff to the playlists (http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCuAPnFIPHdy-T_0cm6RgbBA/videos?view=1), so if there's any videos you feel should be a part of it, let 'er rip in this thread.

Mass Collaborative Tribute Video *COMPLETE!!*
Troels Pleimert replied to MusicallyInspired's topic in Andromedan Spaceport
Nizzle! This could turn out spectacularly. Question is: since the YouTube profile's name is copied from Google+ and cannot be changed, maybe we should change the name of the Google+ page to "Two Guys From Andromeda Fans" or something similar? Right now, the "about" tab clearly states that this is not the official 2GFA YouTube and includes a link to the official one. So maybe it's not important at all. -

I've actually found that my use of the word has been curtailed dramatically since Fred pointed it out. The two incidents are not wholly unrelated. ;) -

Not entirely off-topic, Fred is talking about making a YouTube channel for SpaceQuest.net. This could be going interesting places. :) -

A recording would definitely be best, if you're up for it. I have this idea that people get sick of hearing me talking after a while. ;)- 54 replies

Troels Pleimert replied to BlockMaster's topic in Starcon Academy
Thanks; that sounds great! Just FYI, the podcast going out on the Dec 11 is the one that has a submission deadline of Dec 6. The podcast following that comes out Dec 25 and has a submission deadline of Dec 20. Awesome; thanks! Again, the above deadlines apply. If you can't make the Dec 6 deadline, you can have until Dec 20 to get your stuff in. Aw, you guys are great. :)- 54 replies

Troels Pleimert replied to BlockMaster's topic in Starcon Academy
You're absolutely right. I'm still working out how to attack this, but I think I'm getting a handle on it. I think it'll probably come down to who gets their stuff back to me first. ;) Let me give you a little bit of background. The template for the podcast in general is broken up into four bits: Bit 1: My "sermon" (kind of like the opening monologue on late night talkshows) Bit 2: First guest spot Bit 3: Second guest spot Bit 4: Third guest spot Bit 5: A question for the listeners; see you next time The podcast on Dec. 11, which is the one we're shooting for here, has two guest spots open. (The third is taken up with Brandon and Ken Allen talking about SQ4 music.) But I've got bits in the wing for easter eggs (myself), the debug mode (myself, with input from Collector and hopefully Scott Murphy as well), game glitches (Alan Luckachina) and hidden SQ6 music (Spikey), in addition to the resource goodies (you/BlockMaster). So this is starting to look like a two-parter very much, yes. ;) Your list sounds really good! The only one I would think of maybe omitting is Roger reading the Hz So Good items, because, uh, I'm actually going to talk about hidden voice stuff in SQ4 for next episode's sermon. And I also use those for "commercial breaks" in the podcast. So it might be redundant. On the other hand, you could just bring it up to remind people. The wildcard here is how you and BlockMaster would divide up talking about the resource goodies. I have no idea here. I'm inclined to just letting you slug it out with ol' Blocky over that. ;)- 54 replies

This is shaping up to be really cool. Might have to do a big ol' two-parter about "cool hidden stuff." :)- 54 replies

I'm pretty sure Brandon is right -- SQ4 was always meant to be a VGA game, because they wanted to do hand-painted, digitized backgrounds (like all the other Sierra games around that time). However, I know Brandon is absolutely right about the parser/P-n-C controversy surrounding SQ4. SQ4 was supposed to be a parser game, but the icons were forced on Scott and Mark.

Space Quest Lego UPDATE : Galaxy Galleria
Troels Pleimert replied to BlockMaster's topic in World O' Fan Wonders
Hahaha, those are fantastic! :D Mind if I download these and post them on the Two Guys' Tumblr? I find it a bit cumbersome to have to right-click on stuff to see the animation; Tumblr would play the animations automatically. -

That would be great! And I don't care if people are interested; I know I am, and that's good enough. ;) Would you be up for doing your bit for the same episode as Akril and Blockmaster (meaning deadline is Dec. 6)? Then we could turn the whole episode into one giant "secrets-fest". :)- 54 replies

That sounds perfect, actually, 'cos that's exactly the angle I was going for: The most important thing is the cool stuff you can find; not so much how it got there (because we can only speculate on that, anyway). Edit: Okay, I neglected something here the first time around. Time to break out the Revisionism Machine. I'm not sure how to divide it up between you and Blockmaster, because it sounds like you pretty much want to talk about the same thing. Maybe I could get a certain illustrious Sierra employee or two to talk about the debug itself. Then I could talk about the easter eggs, and you and Blockmaster could talk about the hidden resource stuff. I'd like to keep it somewhat Space Quest-centric, but that doesn't mean you can't take any detours around the Sierra library along the way. If the starting- and ending-points are somewhere in the Space Quest department, then pretty much any detour you take along the way is fine with me (even non-Sierra games). Oh, this is perfect stuff! Now I'm spoiled as to whether I should do a two-part investigation (SQ4 for the coming episode; SQ6 for another), or if I should jumble them all together. In any case: Thanks so much!- 54 replies

Blue frogs in the Time Pod NEW : Now (maybe) solved!
Troels Pleimert replied to BlockMaster's topic in Starcon Academy
Thanks so much, Akril! :D I've been there, my friend. You'll go click-crazy after a while. And there's a perfectly good chance that the message actually doesn't appear in the game at all. (Oh, that reminds me: have fun with the elevator in SQ6. That seemingly innocuous little screen is actually one of the most click-event-nuts screens in the entire series.)- 53 replies

Anyone have the "blue frogs" line lying around as a wav? I remember Dat_Engineer promising he'd find it for me, but he never did. ;) (I never explicitly asked for it, either, so ... eh, well.)- 53 replies

Deleted stuff in Space Quest I VGA
Troels Pleimert replied to BlockMaster's topic in Starcon Academy
Well, not much of a format yet. But there are three things I'd like to cover: What the jack the "debug" thing is in the first place, and what it was/can be used for. The weird stuff you can find "legally" in the game, just by messing with the debug (or easter eggs). This would include the Ortegan time code in SQ4, the "ken" easter egg in SQ1EGA, the "cheat" easter egg in SQ2, the "suicide" death in LSL1EGA, and, yes, the "cum-guzzling gutter slut" easter egg in KQ2. (I wonder how I'm gonna get that past the Pope-Censor?) The even weirder stuff that's hidden in the resource files, as you have been talking about in this thread. Stuff that you can't see unless you hack the game files or go spelunking with the resource viewer. That includes the "lawsuit room" in SQ4, the various deaths and close-ups that Akril has on her page, the Orion's Belt concept art on the KQ7 cd, etc. That's pretty much what I wanted to cover with the episode. I'm actually teasing this one out, because I'm going to talk briefly about the "hidden voice files" (Roger reading the Hz So Good items; the weird-ass "blue frogs" line, etc.) in SQ4 for the opening of the next episode, and I could perhaps use that opportunity to tease about our grand "secrets" episode.- 54 replies

Awesome! So, how do you guys wanna divide it up? I mean, I could set up some parameters, but if there's something you're dying to talk about, let me know and we'll take it from there. Not sure about ATMachine. Not someone I've come across in recent memory.- 54 replies

Or you could collaborate on the bit. No rules. :) Bit of background: Episode 5 of the podcast (release date Dec. 11) is going to be about the debug modes, easter eggs and the juicy stuff hidden away in the game resource files. I invited Blockmaster to talk about the stuff he's been digging up, and I'm going to talk in general about the debug modes in the AGI and SCI games (I'm hoping to have Scott in on this bit). Let me know what you think.- 54 replies

I have already invited Blockmaster to talk about the hidden goodies on the SQH podcast. Akril, you wanna get in on the action? Or, if you prefer, I can use your research to write a spiel of my own.- 54 replies
