BlockMaster Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 I found these lines in the source code of Space Quest III : "Looks like this bird's in good shape.", "So, how do you like the game so far? Was it worth $59.95?" "Hey, we're hungry. We haven't eaten anything but jello for the last few weeks." "I hafta go to the bathroom." "Can't you make this crate go any faster?" "Just between you and me, I think ol' Wilco's been in space too long." What does that means? There is no bird in Space Quest III, and they mention the game's price. I wonder if you know something about this. Quote

There is no bird in Space Quest III. I wonder if you know something about this. Best guess: it refers to the Aluminum Mallard in the garbage freighter; "bird" being slang for airborne vessel. Quote
Troels Pleimert Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 The price thing: I think one of the Two Guys says that if you leave the game alone for too long after springing them from the jello. Or maybe if you talk to them. Sure, I could check, but I'm lazy. ;) Quote
Spikey Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 I think I've seen the 59.95 one, and the jello one refers to the Guys after their jello prison. The crate one and the faster one I think are in-game too.. Quote
MusicallyInspired Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 All of those are lines from the Two Guys when you're sitting in the Aluminum Mallard after rescuing them. Quote
Dat Engineer Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 The "bird" line is specifically referring to what the narrator says when you view the status monitor in the Aluminum Mallard, and all the parts are completely functional. MusicallyInspired 1 Quote
BlockMaster Posted October 28, 2013 Author Report Posted October 28, 2013 I also found this line : "You've been getting some mighty strange ideas from playing 'KQ II', haven't you? You loose 5 points." Quote
BlockMaster Posted October 28, 2013 Author Report Posted October 28, 2013 And this : " The quakes started by the detonator have broken open a huge crack in the planet surface, which you and everything else in the vicinity have fallen into. The super-heated magma does a quick work of boiling you alive." Strange, because I don't remember that you have a limited time to escape Ortega after you blow up the generator. Quote

MusicallyInspired Posted November 17, 2013 Report Posted November 17, 2013 That's the security drone at Scumsoft that jellies you if you get caught. Quote
Troels Pleimert Posted November 17, 2013 Report Posted November 17, 2013 Strange, because I don't remember that you have a limited time to escape Ortega after you blow up the generator. I've gotten myself killed here tons of times, mainly because I usually crank the game speed (I'm impatient) and that also cranks the in-game timer. Sometimes I don't even make it out of the shield generator's ground floor before getting my ass blown to bits. Quote

A bit late, but yes, if you do take too long to escape Ortega, (skip to 2:30 in this video). I also found this line : "You've been getting some mighty strange ideas from playing 'KQ II', haven't you? You loose 5 points." That's from the code from the scene with the snake. I'd think typing "bridle snake" would trigger it, but I haven't been able to make that happen in the game. Quote

Troels Pleimert Posted November 19, 2013 Report Posted November 19, 2013 I'm glad to know that the Two Guys share my disdain for that particular puzzle from KQ2. I am blissfully unaware of what you're all talking about, and I wish to stay that way. Quote
Dat Engineer Posted November 20, 2013 Report Posted November 20, 2013 That's from the code from the scene with the snake. I'd think typing "bridle snake" would trigger it, but I haven't been able to make that happen in the game. I think the trigger phrase is "bridle cruncher". Why they call it a cruncher, I have no idea. The synonyms "crusher", "grinder", and "shredder" also work. Quote
