BlockMaster
Hey guys! I'm always browsing through the code of the Space Quest games and I wonder if anyone looked in the code of the fan games like Incinerations or Vohaul Strikes Back. There might be some hidden interesting things. Not canon, but still interesting. BlockMaster
pcj
There is. :)
Troels Pleimert
If you watch the Developer's Commentary for Space Quest: Incinerations, right up at the end, you'll find an easter egg that gives you the "full points" super-awesome ending, regardless of how badly you played the game. :) But if you're referring to hidden assets and such, well ... I guess all you'd have to do is sweettalk Blackthorne, Datadog or PCJ into sending you the source code to, respectively, SQ2VGA, Incinerations and VSB. All those games were made in AGS. Datadog
VSB has quite a bit of hidden goodies that most normal people will never find. For instance, entering certain codes on the safe could return lots of interesting messages. SQInc, not so much. As Troels said, there's an easter egg near the end which grants you a full score. Other than that, the trophies, and the extra endings, all you'd find is the occasional dialogue blurb where I complain about writing dialogue at 3 in the morning. BlockMaster
Thank you for the replies. I want to look into Vohaul Strikes Back's code first, I think.
MusicallyInspired
The code and resources are encoded and not decompilable for AGS games. It's impossible to hack without the source code. Like Troels said, your best bet is to contact the developers.

Sir Procestuous
So, semi related but is a voice add-on for Incinerations still in the cards at some point? Had a blast recording my lines for VSB! And, concerning VSB...I heard there's someone who'll accept the glass shard...without spoilers, any cryptic hints? pcj
It's Vohaul.

BlockMaster
With the code, can I see stuff in a kind of format like the resource viewers? Views, pics, text, sound, vocab... etc
pcj
Yes.

Had a blast recording my lines for VSB! I'd love to do a voice for Incinerations, but I think Datadog said during the commentary that he didn't have time to organize a talkie project. Of course, he could always bounce the script and let the fan community sort that out. Something tells me a huge fight would erupt over who gets to play Doomtron. ;) BlockMaster

Troels Pleimert
It's gonna be Samuel L. Jackson. Oh, no contest. But what if Sammy has a scheduling conflict?
drdrslashvohaul
Jonathan Frakes. pcj and Troels Pleimert
BlockMaster
I used a program (I don't remember the name now) to enter SQ2VGA's code once. I searched for the word Sleep. Guess why. <_< Ahem*What a password*Ahem
MusicallyInspired
Probably a hex editor. Any one would work. Sometimes you can read strings (lines of text) riddled throughout the game data files among the gibberish.
BlockMaster
Yeah. Probably.
